  1. If Theo Gillen is available at 34 I am not sure the Brewers would pass on him for a pitcher. Gillen and Smith would be really good picks in the 1st round for the Brewers. I think the Brewers could easily get another HS or JUCO pitcher in the 2nd round. To me a pick of Gillen at 34 and Smith at 17 would be a far better draft.
  2. Can we please stop putting the pool noodle arm in RF?
  3. The Brewers don't really have an every day power bat. Hoskins is the closest but he looks like he is still not fully 100% yet from his injury last year and the injury he had this year. There really is only two good options for some middle of the order power in Alonso and Walker. Alonso may not even become available as the Mets are now back in the NL WC race. So that leaves Walker from the Dbacks who are also still in the last WC spot mix. Maybe the A's will decide to trade Rooker but he is a DH only and that is where Hoskins should be playing when Yelich or Contreras are not at their normal spots. I don't think the White Sox would make Sheets available but if they did he maybe someone under the radar the Brewers could trade for. Basically just platoon him with Hoskins at DH and 1B.
  4. Good value at 17 is an understatement. He has cut his k rate down by about double this season and was only at about 12% in the Cape. If his reduction in K’s is real he should really be a top 10 pick.
  5. He probably needed the day off today. Would have started Chourio over Yelich today and had Black at DH and Bauers at 1B.
  6. Blue Jays are falling further and further out of a playoff spot. Kikuchi is the pitcher I want and he shouldn’t cost all that much to get either.
  7. Since playing the Brewers on 5/29 Imanaga has given up 5 R, 2 R, 1 R and today 10 R. In his previous 9 games he gave up a total of 7 R. Looks like the league has caught up to him and he hasn’t really made an adjustment yet.
  8. LOL Lakers hiring Redick. Obvious LeBron approved hire.
  9. Is defense really that volatile? Maybe from one year to the next but I wouldn’t expect it to be volatile in a season. Maybe from game to game but not over like 80 games.
  10. C. Moore has been flying up draft boards. I am not sure you are going to be able to get him under slot. He is probably just at or a bit above slot for 17 the way his draft hype is pushing him. He could go anywhere from 12-17 and I have even seen a mock draft with him going 10 or 11.
  11. The Mets are on a 2-3 year rebuild plan. I don’t think Burnes makes sense for them. The Giants though I fully expect them to be involved in Burnes. I think SD would like to but won’t have the resources to do so. I think it comes down to the Yankees, Giants, Braves, Orioles and Astros for Burnes in FA. I think the Cubs and Cardinals will try but will get outbid.
  12. At 17 no. There isn’t anyone worth taking at 17 at catcher IMHO. At 34 maybe but I think they go with a JUCO pitcher at that pick or one of the HS players who drop out of round 1.
  13. Sad news Willie Mays has passed away.
  14. I really thought Griffey was going to break the HR record that year. But then the strike happened. He was on pace for 57 and could have gotten to 62 or 63 that year. He was just an absolute monster in 94.
  15. From the AL the Twins and from the NL Giants. The Giants fans are like Cardinals fans just hipsters instead of whatever misery is. The Twins I just hate them because they are the Twins.
  16. Neither are on the 40-man though so someone will need to be removed as I believe the 40-man is at the maximum.
  17. Well there’s 7 days off for Contreras.
  18. Yamamoto out with a strained rotator cuff. https://sports.yahoo.com/dodgers-p-yoshinobu-yamamoto-out-for-some-time-with-strained-rotator-cuff-suffered-months-after-signing-325m-contract-232343506.html
  19. Brewers offense per situation by wRC+. Again the Brewers offense is really good this year unless against LHP. And also since some hate the #4 hitter for the Brewers: The only sore spot for the Brewers offense has been against LHP where they are below league average and are 22nd against LHP.
  20. Not really as Hoskins isn't really a 1B. He is a DH and Walker would be a clear upgrade over both Bauers and Hoskins defensively at 1B. Walker is only hitting .010 OPS higher against LHP than he is against RHP. Walker is a career .799 vs LHP and a career .789 vs RHP. So basically the same hitter against both. Walker would be a good pickup for the Brewers to play at 1B and then have Hoskins at DH when Yelich or Contreras are not at DH.
  21. Christian Walker would be significantly better than Hoskins and Bauers but that is about it. Beyond Walker the next best available would be Alonso. I hope the Cardinals and Cubs continue to suck and stay under .500 so the Cardinals trade Goldschmidt to the Yankees and that leaves really only the Brewers looking for 1B help. Could make Walker attaining Walker or Alonso easier. The only other team I can think of that would need 1B help would probably be the Twins. Alonso may not even be available because the NL Wild Card race looks like it is going to be whoever sucks the less right now for the final spot. Only the Rockies and Marlins right now look to be out of it with everyone else being 1-2 games out of the final wildcard spot. At some point some of these teams will go on a losing streak and someone will go on a winning streak. There will be some separation at some point just right now it is a cluster <insert your favorite four letter cuss word>. Right now there are only 4 teams in the NL above .500 and one team at .500. That won't stay like that for the rest of the season but usually by now you can tell who will be sellers and who will be buyers and right now there are only four buyers and two definite sellers in the NL. Everyone else in the NL are just big question marks and some of these NL teams have what everyone else wants in a trade. The AL is a little bit better off but there are only three definite sellers and at least six definite buyers. The Red Sox, Blue Jays and Tigers all could be buyers or could be a mixture of both depending on what becomes available. I could see the Blue Jays or Red Sox trading for Luzardo even if they are out of it.
  22. Not sure why the weakest arm in the OF is starting in RF.
  23. Brewers. The White Sox are making that trade before you can think how bad of an idea that is. O'Rae alone should be enough for Jimenez. Kopech probably someone in the DSL.
