  1. After this series against the Royals the Cardinals only have 3 games against teams below .500 for the month of August. That is 15 games against teams over .500. If the Cardinals want to catch the Brewers this month they have to sweep the Brewers and they can only lose at most 1 game against the Reds. This is going to be a difficult month for the Cardinals.
  2. They won’t get the #1 pick and the best pick they can get is #10.
  3. Just me or is EDLC not a good SS for how fast he is? Probably would be a better OF than a SS IMHO.
  4. Adames should get a contract similar to Baez. So I don't believe the Brewers will be able to keep him.
  5. Yuck. Other than Soto not sure there is anyone I would give a large contract to. Buehler on a 1-year would be interesting but I think he just resigns with the Dodgers and maybe Soroka as a reclamation project on a minor league contract. Kikuchi on a 2 or 3-year deal would be good also.
  6. He probably won’t opt out but there is a possibility that he does. He would need to get to above his career norms. I don’t think that will happen so he is more than likely back for next year.
  7. Probably something like a .300+ average and 30 HR’s. A 30/30 season would also work.
  8. If the Brewers win today that puts them 1 game back of the idle Dodgers for the #2 spot in the playoffs. Which could make next weeks series against the Dodgers a pivotal series for the #2 spot. Then depending on the Phillies and D-backs game tonight the Brewers could be either 3 or 4 games out of the #1 spot. The #2 spot is definitely still in play for the Brewers but the Phillies would need to go on an extended cold streak with the Brewers going on an extended hot streak at the same time. I don't think the #1 seed is in play.
  9. I think Mitchell has a lower ceiling though I think his ceiling is someone like Grady Sizemore. Which matches with the injuries.
  10. The card looks to be very rare as I don’t see any on EBay which is strange. You can find the posters online but the card looks to be very rare. Good luck in finding one. Best place to find one is probably going to be at an estate sale or at a rummage/garage/lawn sale.
  11. I don't mind baseball being played in a unique place as long as the place makes sense. A racetrack doesn't really make any sense.
  12. Baseball will be played where now? Seriously MLB at Bristol Motor Speedway? Why? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5684541/2024/08/06/braves-reds-game-bristol-motor-speedway-2025/?source=user_shared_article
  13. A really good article on Trout over at Fangraphs. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/with-another-lost-season-for-mike-trout-a-sobering-parallel-emerges/ Trout was looking like a Bonds or Mays type of a player but now he is looking more like Griffey Jr. Not the worst thing in the world but he is no longer looking like one of the all time greats anymore due to the injuries. Though being the next Griffey isn't a bad alternative to a career.
  14. Yes. No. Probably. Maybe. Could be. Probably not. Take your pick of those answers as they all could be right and wrong at the same time.
  15. Frelick is just not a regular OF. He is probably at best a 5th OF right now. Unless he can learn how to hit with more power or be more aggressive running he is just a waste of space on this team. Probably should have traded him in the off season. I just don't see Frelick being anything more than a 4th or 5th OF.
  16. Have a contact hitter up and Frelick isn’t even attempting a steal? What? This team is just not aggressive enough on the bases.
  17. But you must work the count and make the pitcher throw as many pitches as possible! A lot on this board would lose their minds if the Brewers were more aggressive at the plate. The watching of 2-0 or 3-0 pitches split the middle of the plate is just maddening. I don’t care what the count is if there is a pitch that splits the middle of the plate in the strike zone the batter should be swinging at it. You can’t wait for the next pitch just to up the count of pitches for the pitcher. You may not get a better pitch to hit in the AB. This stupid work the count and don’t swing at pitches being up 2-0 or 3-0 needs to die.
  18. They weren't. They told other GM's he wasn't available. Burnes didn't come onto the market until this past off season.
  19. Except this was a GM asking for a ton. Difference between fans making proposals and actual GM’s who have to deal with other GM’s. The ask was extremely high like Holliday, Mayo, Povich and more. That was just to start the conversation with the Tigers.
  20. Rumors for Skubal were that the Tigers were asking for a whole MLB team for him. Other MLB exec's were overly frustrated with the Tigers GM for his asking price for Skubal. Skubal was never available at a reasonable price. He probably won't be available this off season either.
  21. I think skipping AAA probably helped Chourio out more than it hurt him. There are very few MLB type pitchers in AAA. The off speed pitches you see in MLB starters is just not there in AAA. A prospect may face one MLB caliber pitcher a week in AAA and may only face one MLB caliber starting pitcher a month in AAA if they are lucky. Development wise AAA is just not a great place for a prospect. The breaking pitches are not anywhere close to MLB quality and at most you are facing #4 or #5 type starting pitchers and maybe a MLB teams 5th or 6th option out of the bullpen. AAA to me is just a holding spot for prospects teams don't have a place for or for AAAA type players. Then you also have the occasional MLB vet past their prime still playing in AAA.
  22. How many innings are the Pirates going to let Skenes throw this year? He is currently at 108 innings pitched and only pitched about 135 innings last year between college and the minors. He is only 27 innings or about 4-5 starts away from reaching the number of innings he pitched last year which should be about his last start in August or his first start in September. If it takes him 5 starts that should put his innings match in September start 1. He would then have about 3 more starts left in September and if he averages 6 innings pitched that puts him at about 150 innings pitched on the season. Do the Pirates shut him down if they make the playoffs or stick him in the bullpen?
  23. Ummmm I have been saying Wiemer has no value for awhile now.
  24. For being knocked around it looks like Montas should be able to get through 6 innings.
