  1. All else equal I'd have to go with Wrigley for a Brewers-Cubs game. When factoring in the price difference and time commitment difference, I'd prefer Miller Park.
  2. Tonight, got to the game late (parked in a surprisingly close spot on the street around 7:15) and had 3 extra tickets to unload. Gave one to some guy near the ticket window. Then, I wandered ovewr toward the resale area to see if there was anyone who'd want a free pair who wasn't a scalper. Well, a scalper asked what I had, and I told him 2 in 417. He didn't want them, but he then asked if I was by myself, handed me a ticket, and told me to go have fun. He actually gave me a ticket in section 123 row 11. Point is, there are clearly deals to be had (tonight - my 3 extras for free, plus the good one I got for free, in addition to many more). This was a single ticket at about 7:30pm, but even still I thought I'd see pigs fly before I ever received a ticket as a gift from a scalper.
  3. I liked my experience there in July. It's a pain to get to, but I really like how it's just on a block in the city (as opposed to Miller Park, which is completely separated from all other buildings). That makes Wrigley almost have a feel like Camp Randall or Lambeau (not from the stadium itself, but just the fact that there are houses/apartments right across the street). I agree that the stadium is dumpy. Support beams take away part of the view for pretty much any 200-level seat, unless you're in like the first 5 rows. Support beams also get in the way of many 500-level seats there. On the plus side, I also was treated very well there. After the game when DiFelice (?) threw the strike that was called a ball and that resulted in a walk-off walk, 2 separate people said something to me along the lines of, "Boy, you'll never see a cheaper win than that one." I sat in 3 separate areas of the stadium for the 3 games I was there, and I saw a total of one obnoxious Cubs' fan looking to start a fight.
  4. If anyone wants to just show up at a game, you could probably find someone who will just give you their tickets.... If not, they will be very cheap.... worst case you could buy from the scalpers for next to nothing..... I have my terrace season tickets but may talk to the scalpers for a couple games just to pick up some loge/field level seats for $5 each or so. On a total side note, Wisconsin Badger football tickets are also very, very cheap right now.... I picked up a pair of regular (non-student) tickets last Saturday at about 9:30 am for $10 each. Face value was $39 each. There were tickets available everywhere. With a game against Wofford this weekend, tickets might be even more readily available than they were against Fresno State.
  5. Spring Training for the Brewers in AZ will almost definitely end on Wednesday, March 31st or Thursday, April 1st in 2010 (due to the Friday and Saturday exhibition games at Miller Park).
  6. I'd like to see Gallardo, Counsell, Cameron (if back), Bush, Italian sausage, and then one other one. That other one wouldn't be a current player, at least not if they follow the pattern of previous years (4 players, 1 sausage, and one other bobble). That "other bobble" has been a nesting doll, Barrel Man, and Doug Melvin for the past 4 years.
  7. I was about 80 back in line initially, about 40 back when I got back in line at like 11:30, and about 15 back when I got in line my final time at 11:45 or so. Not including people who went through the line multiple times, maybe 150 people total.
  8. Got there at 10:15 and had time to go through the line three times to get some extra items for a friend that couldn't make it. It seemed well-organized, and they didn't allow people to go through the line a second time until around 11:30-11:40. On a side note, I also was able to go to the players' lot Tuesday afternoon as well as Wednesday afternoon after this signing. Tuesday was especially great, and between the two days I got over half the team. On Tuesday, I got Hoffman, Gallardo, Hart, Bush, Escobar, and Looper. Macha, Narveson, and Villanueva also signed some. On Wednesday, I got McClung, McGehee, Coffey, Stetter, and DiFelice in addition to Parra and Lopez at the signing. Fielder actually parked his car on Wednesday as opposed to getting dropped off like usual, but he wouldn't sign even though only 3 of us were still there (although he did sign for a kid who dropped a couple of cards down to the lower area in a bag).
  9. I want to say you might even get some of the WMLW games on FSN, provided the Bucks aren't playing on FSN or anything like that.
  10. The game is Monday, September 7th at 1:05 PM. Brewers vs. Cards. 4 tix in section 436 row 18. Would prefer to sell as a set of 4 but may consider splitting them into two sets of 2. These are tickets I got for trading in my season tickets. I was originally hoping to tailgate with some friends for this game but it's looking like that probably won't happen now. I am looking to get what I paid for the tickets, which is $6 each. (The tickets actually have a face value of $0 on them since they are from a trade-in, but I paid $5 for my season tickets plus a $1 per ticket fee for the trade-in.) Would mail the tickets or leave them at will call if you want to pay with paypal. Or, I would be willing to meet at pretty much any game next week. PM me if interested in 2 or all 4.
  11. Still glad the season is still going, but it's not like I'll be planning my life around the Brewers schedule for the next month and a half like I would be if we were in a tight race.
  12. Part of the reason for that was because it was a Thursday afternoon game.
  13. I am going to the signing but have items for both Lopez and Parra to sign already. Sorry Dmiles. Has anyone been to one of these daytime weekday signings before? I'm just wondering how crowded it might be as well as whether anyone knows if there will be separate lines for the two players or if it's all one line.
  14. I can say that once this year I was at the parking lot and Braun, when asked to sign, said no as he often does. Someone then asked him why doesn't sign out there much anymore and asked if it's because of sellers, and Braun nodded. Maybe Braun was just looking for an easy excuse, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he thought some of the people who are there just about every day (who also get his autograph at pretty much every Auto Friday and Block Party when he signs) are in it just to sell the autographs. As Barrelman19 pointed out, if anyone did take their personalizations off within mere feet of Braun where he could see it easily, that isn't going to help his view of things. (I guess it may make him stop personalizing because he might realize there's not much point to it, but it isn't going to make him want to sign more often on his own, that's for sure.) Whether people take the personalization off to sell it or to keep it, it may still just look bad to the player to do it that close to him.
  15. Wow, look at Cameron, lol. I knew he rotated songs but that is kind of ridiculous.
  16. 3 in a row after tonight.... keep it up boys....
  17. He must have stopped personalizing because he was rushing to get through all the people at the end. (The same thing happened to my brother at an Auto Friday a few weeks ago when he was roughly 50-60 back in line. People in front of him were complaining about personalizations, but Braun didn't personalize his.) Either that, or Braun thinks he should just personalize for all the "sellers" because they're the ones who get there really early, when in reality that's not the case.
  18. Wow. That is a huge lineup! I hope I am able to get Hall, Coffey, and Stetter. Do they allow pictures? I wouldn't mind getting an updated picture with Stetter Well, looks like you won't be getting Hall or Coffey. They have been removed from the lineup.
  19. This is about par for the course for Cubs fans at Wrigley. Maybe in the bleachers, but from my experience there, not at all.
  20. I was thinking I am gonna get there around 7:30 for Braun to get a jersey signed. I figure that the big lines will probably pick up around 9-9:30 for Braun and Hoffman (maybe a little later for Hoffman). I haven't been to a block party since 2007.... I'm assuming they still have all the tables set up well ahead of time with the players' names on the appropriate tables?
  21. I wanna say Monday through Thursday games there may be such a place where you can buy kiddie sized stuff for $1 or something like that. Can't tell you for sure though cuz I haven't been to many games during the week this year. My guess is that it would be on the terrace level.
  22. If they do well the rest of this month against a relatively easy slate of opponents, they have a shot. Then, with all the games in September against the Cubs & Cards as well as other teams we could be fighting with for the wildcard, we can get hot at the right time and make up a TON of ground. We are not out of it at all.
  23. I think people here are underestimating the Packers' ability to make money. I believe the Packers have made money for the past several seasons. The nationwide popularity of the Packers is really high - fans everywhere and fans that travel well. It wouldn't surprise me if the Packers actually contribute more money to revenue sharing than they take out. (This would be assuming the TV contract revenues are divied up among the 32 teams based on ratings.) I will admit that if the Packers had to have a local TV deal like MLB teams, they would be hurting in revenue, but if they were allowed to negotiate, say, a Notre Dame type national TV deal, they would do ok IMHO. Revenue sharing isn't as big of a deal in helping the Packers as it is in helping other small-market teams, if you ask me. As I once read somewhere regarding the Packers' success in such a small market, "The Packers are a team that just shouldn't be, but still is." So, I don't think the Packers are a good example to use for the benefits of revenue sharing just because they're a small market team.
  24. Just another reason not to park in the parking lots for games, with the obvious exception of tailgating events. However, while it is a higher tax, it's hard for me to argue with charging the people who actually use it. I guess I'd rather see an increase in the sales tax on the tickets (a proportional increase that depends on the value of the ticket) than a flat $1 tax on all tickets though. If ticket prices rise this year AND they charge an extra $1 per ticket, it may not seem like much but that's a 40% increase on prices for the Terrace Ticket Treat. I wonder if the Uecker seats would then cost $2 if a $1 per ticket fee was leveled?
  25. I looked at the standings today for about the second time all season and noticed that we have a good road record (27-28). Our home record is only 27-26 though. It seems to me that that is where we need to pick it up. Our September schedule has so many games against good teams that we will theoretically be fighting with for positioning that it isn't even funny. 9 against the Cards, 7 against the Cubs, 3 against Houston, 6 combined against San Fran and Colorado (wild card?). If we can win a few series against the Astros (two series), Reds, Pirates (two series), Padres, and Nats for the rest of August, we will be in decent shape. As things stand now, if we can take roughly 14 or 15 of those 22 games (which is not at all unreasonable), putting us at about 68-62 or 69-61 going into September, we will have a chance to make some hay in the big games. At this point, all we can ask for is a chance to head into September with a chance and then let the cards fall in those big games as they may. Getting hot at the right time means a potential playoff berth yet. If the Rockies from 2007 aren't proof of that, I don't know what is.
