  1. We have such a good lineup on paper. Man, I would hate pitching to that lineup. So exciting seeing it officially put together in a real game.
  2. I think Jordy has two biological sons and they adopted a baby girl a couple years ago. I think he'd be great on TV, but I have a hard time reconciling that with how much he loves being away from the spotlight on his farm. I think he'll disappear for the most part. Personally I never really bought into any QB "making" anybody. Favre "made" so many guys but he didn't make Robert Ferguson, Derrick Mayes, Terry Mickens, etc. It always seemed like such a disservice to guys who made it at that level.
  3. Grill at home and enjoy. I had tickets to this whole series, but opted to skip this one. Will be at the other 3.
  4. Nelson never seemed like a guy who was 100% football to me. I don't mean that he didn't work hard or something, just that family was bigger and there was more to his life than football. Just got that sense from interviews over the years that he really was at peace being at home and working with his foundation. I doubted he was interested in relocating again.
  5. The drugs are basically off my radar. I think he's beyond that. But he is 31, a bit of concern at the moment, and has a had problem playing anywhere but for MKE.
  6. Win-Loss Record: 90-72 Playoffs (Yes, No): Yes Highest Playoff Level Achieved: World Series win All-Star Game Representative(s): Yelich, Grandal, Cain, Hader Offensive Player of the Year: Yelich Starting Pitcher of the Year: Chacin Relief Pitcher of the Year: Hader Most Surprising Player: Arcia Most Disappointing Player: Aguilar
  7. Way too many awful games. Worst opening weekend I can remember.
  8. George Webb and the toothpaste company starting to fade away...bummer. Well, go Bucky.
  9. Stearns had an interesting answer last night about how he thinks the league has shifted its deadline and his personal theory has always been it's a deadline-driven league. He talked about how you used to have to make your big move at the winter meetings, and over time it shifted to January. Then 4-5 years ago it shifted to March and the value of having guys at ST really plummeted. Most layers kept in shape on their own and that became the norm. Weird that a guy like Kimbrel still has no club, but basically he was saying the FA "chill" is more than likely the new norm.
  10. I haven't really seen a lot of big time pessimism about Knebel. There was some if Jeffress and Knebel were out, which is justified. The overuse stuff is getting really old. It's the first words out of somebody's mouth every time there's an injury. You would think pitchers never hurt their arms before. Their elbows are all ticking time bombs
  11. Interesting not in today's email. The concession vouchers will be on a "debit-style card" rather than individual $5 vouchers. Mailed out in April.
  12. I wouldn't release him at this point either. I don't think there's any way he is retained beyond this year, but given the roster and the market I would eat the cost and hope he can play most of the season.
  13. Last night the Brewers had a SSH conference call with Stearns. One of the fans calling in was baffled as to why Grandal was signed. Pina and Kratz were two of the best players this person had ever seen behind the plate, and he seemed genuinely angry with Grandal being on the team because he saw him pass a ton of balls in the NLCS.
  14. Wasn't bashing Chase Anderson, just saying public whining isn't helpful for a middling player the way it is if you're somebody good enough to get what you want by doing it.
  15. I thought they'd win because I don't watch a whole lot of Murray State and guessed the more blue chip talent would win out, but about three minutes it, it seemed obvious this was a match up problem.
  16. I think it was fairly predictable. They looked awful down the stretch and drew a really athletic 4-loss team. It would be embarrassing if they'd been a highly touted top seed, but they fell backwards into the tournament.
  17. I'm not sure this is an embarrassment. This is a really good Murray State team. MU really gassed at the end of the year but Morant looks capable of taking this team deep.
  18. I picked NMSU and Belmont as well but had MU winning one game.
  19. Chase Anderson is a decent but not great player. He doesn't really do himself any favors by whining about not making a roster or moving to a bullpen role. Falling in line can be the difference between playing until 39 and playing until 33 for guys like that. I think that's what FV is getting at.
  20. Belmont with the worst "hold til last shot" play I've probably ever seen.
  21. I picked NMS too.
  22. Duke Tennessee UNC Michigan Did anyone really like Louisville over Minnesota? I'm in one bracket with 20 people and 1 person picked Louisville.
  23. I mean, I've never trusted what anyone says about player health. I don't think they NEED Kimbrel. I do think signing him is a much safer bet than not. But there's a waiver fodder out there that can compensate for the loss of Knebel. Even crappy Brewers teams have had a knack for that. Kimbrel is basically professional roof replacement and another option is trying to do it yourself. Possible, but a lot harder.
  24. This is what I think is actually going to happen. They won't sign him but will acquire some kind of value fill-in guy and he'll end up contributing way more than people are anticipating. A Jesse Chavez type thing.
