  1. Contract was announced as 2/24, but it's complicated, Cot's says... 21:$6.5M, 22:$9.5M player option ($6.5M buyout), 23:$12M mutual option ($8M buyout) So the rest of 21 (2+ million) plus the buyouts (14.5 million). Would imagine JBJ can't pick up his PO for 22 if he's DFA, but if he somehow can (and 6.5 + 9.5 + 8 = 24 so maybe he can?) that's another three million. TLDR DFA JBJ $$$$$ I would assume if its a player option he gets paid even if we cut him.
  2. Even if we got nothing for Adam Lind, we did well in that trade. He had a below average season at $8M cost. We paid Carter 2.5M and he had a much better year.
  3. Wouldn't an end of July trade, be more like adding $6M to the team's salary? I only bring it up, as $3M is a fairly substantial chunk of change. I'm all for Turang being used as I am a believer in Adames. But am thinking that Turang and Small would be more than I would be willing to go for Bryant - unless you guarantee me that he stays healthy.
  4. What kind of hitters are at the Arizona complex this time of year?
  5. What is the average OPS nowadays (2020-21 or just 2021 if you want), versus the historical norm, or recent historical norm. I'm under the impression there is quite a difference. So an .800 OPS in 2021, would equal an .840 OPS in 2018 - does that sound in the ballpark?
  6. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/top-prospect-performers-for-july-4-2021?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Brewers: Garrett Mitchell, OF (MLB No. 49), High-A Wisconsin Zavier Warren, C (No. 11), Low-A Carolina Hayden Cantrelle, SS (No. 16), High-A Wisconsin Both Mitchell and Cantrelle had banner nights for Wisconsin in their 16-6 rout of Beloit. Mitchell, the Brewers’ No. 1 prospect, drove in a season-high six runs on a 4-for-6 night at the plate that included two home runs (his first multihomer game) and two singles. After crushing a two-run shot as part of a four-run first, Mitchell singled to lead off the fourth inning for Wisconsin and eventually came around to smack a grand slam nine batters later as part of an eight-run inning. After a career night, Mitchell is being rewarded with a promotion to Double-A. Cantrelle, a 2020 fifth-rounder, also had his first career multihomer game, going yard in the first and the third and singling in two in the ninth to drive in a season-high five runs. Cantrelle finished the night going 3-for-6 at the plate. Warren did it all at the plate on Sunday, crushing his ninth home run of the year, doubling, drawing three walks and scoring three runs in Carolina’s 11-4 victory. The 92nd overall pick in the 2020 Draft, Warren has been an on-base machine this season, boasting a .416 OBP with 25 walks through 31 games thus far. The 22-year-old extended his hit streak to four games and has reached base safely in 16 straight games. Brewers prospect stats »
  7. Brewers 20-6 record when playing a team that is better than .500
  8. Feyereisen is porbably a little better than Richards. But Richards does have starting background, so you would think he could give you more multiple inning games and save the pen on blowouts. You have to think the Rays were looking as Rassmussen as the push for the trade, more so than expecting Feyereisen to be this good. Whether you thought Richards would suck, you would still do the trade. That he has been okay, is peaches and gravy to me.
  9. In those 5+ innings, Sanchez sure looks like a B tier guy that wants to grab the 7th inning role.
  10. So how do we get nine innings today without using anyone up? Can we get this, or is that asking too much? Ashby/Sanchez 2 Richards 3 Cousins 2 Strickland 2 Suter if the plan falls apart?...
  11. Yeah I’m fine with the way they are using him……and I have a feeling Hader would be pissed off in a major way if he was moved out of the closers role now. I wouldn't mess with him only pitching one inning. But it sure would be nice to save him for the 10th inning in some of these games.
  12. I haven't looked at the details - I assume if he is on the path to opt out, the Cardinals trade him away in July?....
  13. No, the article was more about putting together some clickbait. That they mentioned Manny Machado trade as a comparable as this trade, makes me question the knowledge of the Rockies writer.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/news/futures-game-prospects-we-want-to-see-2021?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage&partnerId=zh-20210625-429389-MLB-1-B&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20210625-429389-MLB-1-B&bt_ee=UplNY7Er7hnKa8SfFnTDS8jMAZZTskCJHQFpTaHeEVwS2M3rIjrviaQGQ1qaP%2FMa&bt_ts=1624644416964 Brewers: Garrett Mitchell, OF (No. 1/MLB No. 50) A slight left hamstring issue is the only thing that has slowed down Mitchell in his first full season, and even that is past him now. The 2019 first-rounder out of UCLA has taken flight at High-A Wisconsin, where he owns a .321/.493/.518 line with 19 walks and seven stolen bases through 18 games. Mitchell’s speed, when not hampered by the strained hamstring, has been as advertised, and the left-handed hitter has picked up where he left off at the plate following a strong spring. The Timber Rattlers aren't in a High A league are they? That's Carolina, right?
  15. I would say since he has to report to the minors, they haven't really cut bait with him. If they didn't even want him in the minors, and just released him, then they cut bait with him.
  16. Or a 3-1 split because we don't face that many lefties. On the season, 23% of the team's total at bats have been against lefties.
  17. https://theathletic.com/2653349/2021/06/16/mlb-trade-deadline-primer-buyers-sellers-and-teams-that-could-go-either-way/?source=dailyemail Milwaukee Brewers The Brewers are built to succeed in the postseason, if they can get there. They have three top-of-the-rotation starters in Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta, and two shutdown back-of-the-bullpen relievers in Josh Hader and Devin Williams. They are an elite defensive team, when healthy, with Gold Glove winners up the middle and in the corner outfield positions. But do the Brewers have enough offense to make the playoffs? At the deadline, they should be targeting Kyle Seager of the Mariners and considering reunions with former Brewers like Jesús Aguilar of the Marlins or Mike Moustakas of the Reds. Taking on bad contracts (Seager, Moustakas) is a more realistic option for Milwaukee because it has a weak farm system and little to offer in trades.
  18. Did they really technically cut bait on Lindblom? He couldn't refuse a designation to the minors could he? And we knew no one would pick up his contract. So it in essence was us sending him to the minors.
  19. You would have to think that the companies bought them up to package to visiting fans as you said. When Green Bay is on the road to Vegas, they could probably sell 35,000 tickets to Packer fans, no problem. To a lesser extent the other cities (especially northern), would said many fans to Vegas.
  20. There is no way a team picks up his contract (if that is what you meant). They would wait until he clears and then someone would pick him up to pay the prorated minimum wage on the season. There is no way that JBJ is declining his option, even if he has a great second half. At this point we keep him. I would think the trading deadline would be the point where he is released if he is still not producing, but even then with the extra bench he is probably kept.
  21. No one believes the Giants yet? Even though their record isn't just beating up on the DBacks and Rockies. The Brewers and Giants are 18-12 against better than .500 opponents. The best in the NL. After that the Cubs are the only other team with a winning record versus better than .500 opponents. Obviously, I am hoping that stat is a very good predictor.
  22. I assume Milner/Richards/Weigel for the 8th and 9th or until it blows up, right?
  23. Absolutely have to think a trade is in the works. We more or less have black holes at 1B and 3B, two power positions. If we want to compete, that must change. Ouch! At least before the injury, Stearns could go negotiating and the other teams didn't know he was desperate (they just assumed some level of it).
