Weren't we just driving up the Dodgers amount over luxury tax so that we get a little extra something something from the comptetive balance payout? They take like 25-50% of the tax and spread it to teams, right?
Has there ever been a player in creation that didn't say he was in the best shape of his life at whatever point in the offseason? Bartolo Colon maybe? Do I win anything if I'm right? You win a pie that you have to split with Bartolo.
Has there ever been a player in creation that didn't say he was in the best shape of his life at whatever point in the offseason? I made some money on my side bet with an Auburndale native. He bet that Zimmerman would be a Brewer, I could see that the match between when he was good and available and when the Brewers would be good would not match up. Bet had an end date a number of years back. So I just reminded him of the bet today - a day late and a dollar short.
I don't think it is an overpay for the player, versus what another team would also pay. It just doesn't seem like an efficient move, unless the DH is here for 2021. We are either trading Huira (after a bad season) or moving him to 1B (hurts overall defense). I guess I was hoping 1B would be available at some point for Yelich. But if Huira hits and there is no DH, we could at least trade him for value to the AL. If he doesn't hit, makes the whole issue not applicable anyways. Is age 30 really a players prime, especially if he isn't a power hitter in the first place?
Aren’t the Mets looking for an OF? They missed out on both Springer and Hand. Another CF to Mets? What and having them cry again? And maybe the player we may trade for could cry also.
Given our history with Richardson, Walla, Ray, Davis, Frederickson, Bradley, Jungmann, Covey, etc etc etc, I'm confident we got more use out of Claudio than we would have a draft pick. We did get a pick for Covey though, right?
Or maybe they actually DO find it offensive and want it to change. I have no idea. But I know personally, I would think it cool if I was from a tribe that a team named themselves after. Like the Utes or Seminoles. Indians is generic though (afaik).
I don't see giving away as much as they will have to (if you aren't eating salary, which is the point), just to trade Cain that it would be worthwhile. But if some deep pockets contender gets a CF injury in spring training, my ears would perk up.....
In his lone full season he posted a 111 wRC+ & 1.6 WAR. If he can approximate those numbers in 2021 it would be perfectly cromulent production for 1.4 million dollars. Don't really have anything to add. I just wanted to commend you on the use of the word cromulent. My question is how long has he been holding on to that word to use?...
Well technically they will sign a free agent or two I'm sure. Whether those free agents are anything more than min. wage fodder, I don't know. The article guessed the Yankees would spend their free agent money on pitching first, hence the thought process where LeMaieu is available for us. Not that we are outbidding the Yankees.
The only player that is going to negatively care that Cain is back is the bench player that loses his spot on the roster to him. Everyone else will be happy he is back. Assuming he is back.
Brett Maverick Phillips added to Rays WS roster. I'm sure everyone was guessing that when he was traded to KC. Of course they have extra room on the roster for his arm.
Made some money against a guy from Auburndale on Zimmerman. He bet he would be a Brewer by whatever date. Well you could see that the Brewers being good and his contract outs and price, were not going to line up. Now that we are past that date, and I have my money, it wouldn't hurt to sign him to as long as it isn't guaranteed.
What am I missing? Trying to save on the $1M buyout? Just looking at stats Vogelbach is nothing special. Okay seasons in the minors, but I don't think there was anything special stats-wise as it is the PCL.
