  1. Nothing the nanny won't be taking care of.
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29036701/arizona-willing-host-all-30-mlb-teams-right-governor-says "Only one decision, however, has been made with respect to the 2020 season: Major League Baseball will return to the field only when public health officials agree that it is appropriate to play and when we are convinced that our return to the field is safe for players, employees and fans,'' he wrote. "Moreover, we will never, in an effort to begin play, divert resources that are more appropriately devoted to public health initiatives and health care.'' Having some sports on the telly is in the best public health interests of our nation.
  3. At least we made the playoffs. Didn't the Expos have the best record, but didn't win either half, so they didn't get squat.
  4. Actually, I think the opposite. Depth pays over the longer haul, as injuries etc make the other teams weaker, when we have injuries we are replacing that player with a very similar in production player. A shortened season will not help the Brewers. But CC, does know how to manage to win it all as if every game is the last - which is very much needed in a 60 game season.
  5. So he'll be getting 2 million or more per year until he's 50. That's pretty awesome for him. Even if he goes all Terrell Owens, he won't go broke until at least 50 Actually, he could sell his future payments (or a good chunk at least), get money now and then burn that up. Not saying he will. Isn't JG Wentworth a Brewers commercial sponsor? Its my money and I need it now!
  6. I agree. However, I am leery - has CC ever done a strict platoon at any point in time? I'm old and maybe I am forgetting something.
  7. Heres the thing. Is Houser being projected as a full time starter? Lauer most likely is as thats been his career to date. Houser has data from being a good RP to mix with SP. Also gotta bring up that Lauer for his career is basically a 3.55 ERA SP once you remove his IP at Coors field. 4.6s ERA projections is laughable and lazy homework. Lauer: It would be logical that his ERA would be projected for more than last year. He is going from the NL West to the NL Central (and half his games in Miller). But, you also hope and project that he has hit his prime and will improve from last year.
  8. I think you’re reading that wrong......3.25 million minimum this season with a 750k buyout if the option. So 4 million minimum......plus incentives. If you go by the spotrac page and Ken R. tweet, it is $2.5M The tweet says, "One year, $3.25M. Guarantee includes $750K buyout...."
  9. Assuming Usain Bolt is in the olympics again, how about we sign him to a deal for September. He should be able to steal bases quite well. He could even drop the extra good vitamins for the month
  10. tyrone taylor is out until late april or early may as recovers from left wrist surgery. makes the club less likely to trade gamel early in the season. If I get a good deal, that isn't stopping me from trading Gamel. With Garcia able to play CF, we have plenty of insurance all around the OF.
  11. Club Option would automatically mean a buyout also.

  13. Now that they will try to eliminate this type of cheating, there goes Suter's advantage. He pitched too fast for teams to cheat on him. They weren't used to having to figure out pitches on their own.

  15. Reds 86 Cards 86 Cubs 86 Brew 80 Pirates 72
  16. I would trade him after this season if you get a fair deal. Trading him then will get you quite a bit more than waiting another year. Plus you aren't rolling the dice on his health or having multiple teams bidding the next summer. And if there are no takers, then you wait. The problem is you have the Arenado issue of him being publicly shopped - but I don't see how you keep it quiet if you put him on the block.
  17. Him and Peralta/Houser should be 2 IP guys. If they are looking at him as the long man that's a waste. I agree. The long man comes in when the starter flames out in the third inning. So we are behind. We aren't going to waste Suter on these type of innings. Now if he meant the starter got five innings in, and the game is close and they want Suter to go innings 6-8, instead of innings 6-7, that is fine. Whatever gives us the most leveraged innings with the assumption he is one of our best options in the pen.
  18. Before the Phelps signing, sure. Now we are starting to see the bullpen. Five pretty locked in: Hader, Claudio, Phelps, Peralta, Suter Three from the ready to either swim or drown: Yardley, Williams x 2, Black, Guerra, plus whatever NRIs there ends up being Almost there: Feyereisen, Wahl Probably still need seasoning: Perdomo, Supak Knebel in May for the weakest link. The problem would be if they steal Suter for a starters spot. But that wouldn't be a Strop type that would be more like a Burnes type.
  19. That would be a surprise since Erceg hasn't hit since rookie ball, has he? Grisham was in that same boat. Good first year, then scuffled... until he broke out. Grisham was always young for his league. Erceg was never young for his league.
  20. When calculating Betts surplus value, just want to double-check you accounted for what he will be paid in 2020? Is the current cost of 1.0 war = $9M?
  21. That would be a surprise since Erceg hasn't hit since rookie ball, has he?
  22. However now the AL teams have an advantage over the NL teams in that they can go after free agents that people know at their end of their contract will be DHs only. So, I would rather there be no DH in either league (as a small market team), but that isn't happening - so I am okay with the DH coming.
  23. I have that Anderson has up to $2M in incentives, right?
  24. Yeah, $850K is not much of a gamble to see if he is right. Well we can always acquire him at the deadline, right?
  25. I expect/hope that Small and Ashby both make sizable jumps this year. Both those guys have the stuff and make-up to get through the system quickly. They are going to need Zach Brown and Trey Supak to step up and prove that they can get upper level and big league hitters out as well. The lack of starting pitching depth signings so far would seem to indicate that the front office believes that a few of these guys are poised to take the next step. You are talking about two players that haven't even tasted AA yet and Brown who was evidently bad enough in 2019 that the Brewers didn't use a 40 man spot to protect him. Supak was shelled in 6 out of his 7 starts in AAA, so hard to say if he is a possibility. They may be on the list of potential guys, but if they are high on the list, it isn't good for the Brewers.
