  1. I don't see anyone taking a "militant" stance against signing a reliever. I see people not acting like the world is ending just because we haven't panicked and overpaid for one yet.
  2. No, because I'm a grown up who knows there are 2 months before pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training
  3. Personally, I think you're wrong. And the historical data showing tremendous volatility with relief pitching agrees with me. Many of you sound like spoiled 6 year olds. If this is the team the Brewers take to spring training, then you'll have a legitimate beef.
  4. It seems like it almost has to be via trade. With anywhere from 8-12 prospects that might need rule 5 protection 12 months from now, they kind of need to make some 3 or 4 for 1 deals.
  5. To put out projections when not a single significant trade has been made, nor a free agent of note has signed is beyond stupid. But that's what you can expect with ESPN at this point
  6. Anyone who thinks we have more regression candidates than breakout candidates doesn't understand normal athletic trajectory. Young players tend to get better, older players tend to decline, and players in their mid to late 20's often level out around their peak for a few years. To have Sanatana, Hader, and Phillips on a regression list is to use a nice word - pessimistic. And Shaw is 27 years old. He might even have low enough miles on him to put in the "can still improve" category. But he's in his prime years so there's every reason to believe he can approximate last season. Same goes for Anderson and Suter - in their athletic prime years and low miles. Of course any one of these players could crash and burn. But then again every older player could outdo themselves and actually have better 2018's than 2017. You just don't know. However the fundamental reason why statistical forecast models are so accurate is because they account for age, experience, and the typical trajectory of an athlete's career. Santana, Hader, and Phillips should all be projected by models to provide even more.
  7. It is possible to have a group of very talented players perform poorly because of scheme. In the postgame Stafford alluded to knowing exactly what Dom was throwing at him after so many years going against this scheme. I think it's pretty clear that the Packers are fooling no one in the entire league. It's beyond time to move on
  8. Uh, the owner is still there. If Stearns is strong enough to make his own decisions and Melvin wasn't than it's safe to call them "Doug Melvin moves"
  9. This only question this is the answer to is "how can we make the Brewers worse in 2018?".
  10. ^^^ Comically bad. It's ridiculous that it will weigh down the final numbers. Might be time to throw out the highest and lowest rankings on each player. Give me a timeout, I'll accept it. That has to be trolling, a cry for attention, or both
  11. His showing to this point has been less than ideal
  12. Living here, I almost feel like it's my responsibility to remind (point out to) the stadium group building in Summerlin know how much a draw it is when a Wisconsin team plays in Vegas. Every Badger football game played here against UNLV brings in a full house of UW fans. And I know that any Packers / Raiders game here is going to be a sea of green and gold. If this ownership group has a choice of team affiliates, I hope they know how all Wisconsin people need is a tiny excuse to come to Vegas and they'll come. I think Wisconsin visitors will add a AAA game to the agenda if the home club is the Brewers AAA team.
  13. As someone who lives in Summerlin, I'm all for it! Bring the Brewers to Vegas!
  14. I have no problem with this. I'm as high on Brinson as anyone here and think the combo of the defensive upgrade he provides and the potential return for Santana are worth the loss of Domingo's bat. I'm not desperate to move Santana but I'd sure be excited to see what I could potentially get for him. Since the Brewers can't just buy talent I think they have to stack small upgrades anywhere they can be found. And defense is a cheap upgrade.
  15. Seeing a guy as the potential best trade chip in the organization for a possible high end rotation piece is not nearly the same thing as 'writing off' a player. Yeah, and I'm saying that if people had a grasp on how good the organization thinks Brinson is going to be they wouldn't be suggesting he be used as a trade chip. That bore out with Phillips. He struggled at first then settled in and all the trade scenarios with him in them have since vanished. Now everyone has him as a keeper. Many teams came calling on Brinson and the Brewers refused to discuss him. Had he come up and set the world on fire, he wouldn't be mentioned as a disposable piece here.
  16. That's absurd. Every one of those players is immensely talented and has a high percentage chance of getting better. The question would be will any/all take a step back first. For all 5 to stagnate or regress next year would be incredibly unlucky.
  17. Seeing way too many people writing off Brinson. Whether by trade or relegating him to the wrong side of a platoon. Reminds of how not too long ago people were casting Phillips as no more than a 4th OF. Thank goodness those people aren't the Brewers GM. Rookies start slow all the time. It's an adjustment. Phillips looked bad in his first couple of stints too. R-E-L-A-X
  18. It's amazing the ways irrational fans cast blame. I actually saw a fan blame TT for not keeping enough o-linemen on the 53 man roster coming out of camp. They kept 10!
  19. Need to add batters to the lineup who will give better ABs. Team lacks players who make consistent contact and put the ball in play when necessary. Yes, there's a debate as to how costly high strikeout numbers really are, but let's not break the all-time record for a 3rd year in a row. (Sidenote: did they break last year's mark?) Strikeouts do matter when it comes to advancing runners on base. I have nothing against a player with high slugging, high strikeout rates. I do have a problem with an entire lineup of them. The Brewers record in games without a HR is atrocious.
  20. Of course it was, there shouldn't have been any doubt of that
  21. Winds up being the guy who "And That" had ranked #50 on his list. Still LOLing at the poster who was buying into Twitter talk that it was Gatewood, Freddy Peralta, or Jacob Nottingham.
  22. So a guy says hundreds of ridiculous things and now we're bumping topics to give him a pat on the back for being against a move 90% of us still agree was the right move at the time? All this does is prove that being "loud" has it's benefits. Let's not forget that many of this guy's posts have been downright trollish lately. Don't feed it
  23. That's a lot of words from someone who has no clue what was going on in that locker room with Sitton
  24. Every team affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers organization won yesterday from the majors on down to rookie ball. A nice 7-0 day!
  25. No apostrophe for the win! And what the hell, 20-8 keeps flashing in my mind, so there's that
