  1. Watching Wilken has me wonder if he May and early June was a fluke. Outside of late April through his injury in June, he has had a lot of not very good streaks at the plate. Watching Burke and Fischer have be believing that Wilken has been lapped.
  2. Burke he loves the Southern League. 9 HR now. 3 run shot to get him to 30 RBIs in Top of the 9th. Made with an infield single on a ball that got 10 ft in front of home. The Pratt Walk..
  3. So Patrick will be the spot starter tonight (makes most sense rather than a pure bullpen game since Chad could give innings if he pitches well). Hoskins returned to the Brewers as expected, now the battle for playing time between he and Vaughn. But with Yelich down that leaves a DH spot for Contreras/Bauers/Hoskins/Vaughn to compete for in addition to the 1B and C duties. Siegler will not get playing time again in Nashville, probably both at 3B and C. But Cornielle - whoa. That's surprising. I guess it is a let's see if you want to sign as a minor league FA, or become worthy of a 40 man spot??
  4. Letson - probably the only way to get him some game innings. It is interesting, as I had him on the border of repeating high A vs AA next year given the injury, his age. But this seems like he will get another start or two in AA, likely not go to the AFL as result (my guess only) and then hopefully healthy and ready to hit AA next year.
  5. Shuckers close it out and win a 4-1 game. Burke accounting for all 4 runs with his grand slam. So that is a 3-1 day for the affiliates, and the Carolina Mudcats end their franchise run on a winning note, even if it was the not the storybook ending we all craved. Nashville won in extras. And the T-Rats lose again (with the talent there they should have really dominated the last 2-3 weeks but alas). Anyway this was the last 4 team scoreboard in MiLB for the 2025 season, next April will be the next time we see this many teams in the Link Report
  6. Biloxi two on, and Pratt draws a walk to walk the bases. Then on a 1-1 pitch, Southern Man Mr. Blake Burke hits a 412 foot home run to deep right, 106 mph off the bat, for a Grand Slam. Woo Hoo!!
  7. Obviously injuries (and trades) will play a huge part in this prediction. But my first attempt would look something like this: AAA: CF. Rodriguez, Kuehner, Crow, Hunt. Possibly Wichrowski and Hardin. And Cornielle if he re-signs as a minor league FA. Of course a MLB ready pitcher (Patrick, Myers, Henderson) could start here based upon the big league pitching staff. AA: DeBerry, Birchard, JD Thompson, M. Rodriguez fee like likely core starters here. Then either Wichrowski or Hardin if they repeat. Tanner Gillis, Travis Smith, and Will Rudy are possibilities too. A+ (Wisconson): T. Smith, Sam Garcia, Letson, Meccage, M. Hernandez, Jacob Morrison and Andrew Healy could start at low A and bump up, or start here. Potentially Wande Torres and any one of the arms that I have at WIlson below. Also factor in that Josh Knoth, Yorman Galindez and Jason Woodward are all injured and if healthy could see time at high A. Chandler Welch could be here as a reliever along with B. Rivera and I guess Bjorn Johnson whose development I still don't get. A (Wilson): likely may see repeats of several of the late season debuts, so I assume Dubanewicz, Dorchies, Renz, Mercado, Mercedes. Injuries/Rehab will dictate what we see from Hostetler, Tobias, H. Robinson, Broughton, E. Cortez and D. Corniel. I would also expect that Cairone and maybe Josh Flores will be in the mix with Carlos Carra. Any of the NDFA or college arms (Health, Morrison, Owens, Episcope) could be here as starters or relievers. ACL: Cairone/Flores/Carra may debut here. In addition I suspect that likely several of the HS drafted pitchers (Vucinovich, Roupe, Bentley, Holden) along with possible DSL pitchers (Mayorquin, Galindo, Colmeranez, Pena). This will be the hardest to predict.
  8. Season ends not with a thud. But a loud crushing door slamming shut. . From the relentless Cardiac Cats of April to this. Sad end to the Mudcats. Yes two more games left but that is now it for the franchise. Zebulon you deserved better and it was so close. But that door is closed. They were always entertaining even if for wrong reasons recently.
  9. And a a walk off grand slams ends the Mudcats playoff chase. 😩😔😥
  10. Shuckers get a walk to get two, runners on. But Warren Ks. Still down 5-0. But at least they have a hit and a walk right?
  11. TRats win. Big. 9-2. Fischer with 2 hits. Nicasia stays hot with 3 hits. But Made with 3 throwing errors. - will need some video of those to see what/how.
  12. And Blake Burke obliges. Because it’s the southern league and he is the southern man. Single. No hitter over. Time to work on getting some runs.
  13. Well most won’t know this unless they careful time stamp. it was top of 6 (Biloxi is home team)when I wrote this. So it was no hit thru 5. But sadly the team would not force me to correct it as they are now no hit thru 6. And perfect game against is still intact. Maybe the 3rd time thru the order will yield something.
  14. Big inning propelling T-Rats. Peña still hitless but a sac fly.
  15. Handelfry. Makes the catch. Makes the throw. And it’s a fly out, throw ‘em out at home double play. 1-1 still
  16. Mudacts give up the lead. 1-1 game. And the most (recent) Mudcats way they have allowed runners in 2nd and 3rd via an Ortuno error. At risk of now losing the lead and possibly the game.
  17. Man the Shuckers are the Suckers tonight. No hit thru 6 😳 Perfect game even. Oh no.
  18. Also what a season of pitching for Melvin Hernandez who as long as he doesn’t have an blow up game on Sunday should win the ERA title for the Carolina League (currently at 2.00)mans he’s like 5th or 6th in Ks. For a kid who just turned 19 about 2 months ago, and still is a big as most high school sophomore/juniors in his overall build. If he adds weight and muscle he could get velo up to low or mid 90s. Going along with Dorchies, Dubanewicz and Meccage as teenage arms for low A or high A next year (assuming they all can stay healthy - please please please)
  19. I’m not sure what is more impressive : Wilken tied for first in HR with Adams tied for 11th, despite both missing half the season; or Spain tied for 3rd? And Pratt and Lara are in that 16-22nd range for OPS on the season with both 20 at the start of the year, and both playing very good defense. Both batting around .250ish and OPS over .700 in this league.
  20. They seem to go WWLL, so i’ll go 12-12 which gets them 97 wins which I think wins the division and gets #1 or #2 seed. Cubs would have had to go 19-6 which is not impossible but very unlikely. Same for Phillies and Dodgers like 20-5 or 21-4 as well
  21. I did not watch any games tonight (Wednesdays = meetings night), but boy this one was not one to miss. Carolina trying the emulate the big club build a lead and falter late, leaving men in scoring position which has been the young (and I mean really young) Mudcats MO the past month. Last night was such a treat to watch. But Biloxi and Nashville both have had good pitching and timely hitting, as the Shuckers close out the win. TRats still in rain delay. But Birchard was pitching well (I mean yes 3 walks in 3 innings sure ok), but only 1 hit. He’s allowed only 1 hit in his last 10 innings (at least). That roster will look good together next year in Appleton or Biloxi - Adams, Peña, Made, Fischer, Adamczewski and Dinges. Which means AAA could feature Wilken, Pratt, Burke, Lara and Wood. Those are solid cores to build some clubs around. Alright the Sunday into Monday doldrums are fading. Hopeful for a big Mudcat turn around the next few starts.
  22. Just a random observation - I am really starting to like Biloxi Matt Wood. Offensively better than what he did in Wisconsin, and when I watch him he is solid behind the dish. After Quero and Dinges he is most definitely the next catching prospect, and then there are the young ‘uns Corobo and K. Garcia. Nice to have some decent depth at C.
  23. Ugh. Another gut punch result. Dangit Mudcats. Needs: score when men are on base Avoids: bullpen giving up multiple run leads. See baseball is just that simple.....
  24. Welcome back @Joseph Zarr don’t worry you didn’t miss anything 😉 Hey finally my turn to write the nights play-by-play so you can catch up
  25. His last 17 appearances have been really solid. He had an ERA of over 5, and 31 K to 13 BB, since his ERA is now down to 3.31 and he has 27 K to 7 BB.
