  1. very true, but on the other hand they "graduated" a ton of MLB pitchers (Miz, Patrick, Yoho, Sproat, Henderson, Crow, Gasser) since the beginning of the 2025 season. And there are 2 solid prospects in the upper minors in Hardin and Letson. Then it is the Dorchies/Dubanewicz duo from 2024 draft, and who knows from the 2025 draft. The fact that the only pitcher to do anything from that 2025 draft so far is Braylon Owens, as several are some form of hurt/recovering/returning/rehabbing (Thompson, Episcope, Cairone, Morrison, FLores) or have been bad to underwhelming. Tough when you are currently facing a lack of any progress in a whole draft class of pitchers.
  2. Apparently today. @Ro Mueller just posted he was activated today in the transaction thread:
  3. I think they sign under the radar or projectable types and not big money (usually) for pitchers and sees who sticks. But the past 2-3 years seems a little more pitching in the top 10 bonus payments
  4. Thompson pitched a couple of rehab games with ACL last week. He oddly “pitched” in two, games last Saturday- the continuation of 7/13 game (in which he started) was completed on 7/18 - but did not actually pitch again after that game was resumed. And then he pitched in the actual game in 7/18. But on that day he had “2 starts” where he pitched the first w innings of each - if that description makes any sense.
  5. Another Missouri kid, and this one from Sedalia which is really close to my neck of the woods. The Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri baseball fields are definitely being scouting by the brewers. Not sure if it is the quite the same as well as a totally different era, but I remember the Braves historically always scouting the big areas like all teams, but they knew Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama better than most teams and had a lot of success from those regions.
  6. I think Mercedes is most definitely one to watch. The other DSL pitchers I have been tracking are Derlin Garcia, Raymond Sarmiento and Paul Hoff as the more seasoned pitchers who will likely be stateside next year, and Santiago Martinez was solid but on the IL. Aguayo is good but undersized. Carlos Galindo repeating a year and being solid but with a low K/9. The wild card is Brache, who is towering 6' 4" at 16 years old, and he has stuff (11K/9) but zero command (15.4 BB/9), but if he could harness the command that size, age and potential stuff is intriguing.
  7. If he can develop some velocity he would be a legitimate mlb prospect. But even with his pitch ability and stuff, he was topping out at 89-90 mph when I watched him last.
  8. I would imagine one of two reasons 1. with a deep system it's easy for guys to get overlooked, and minor league evaluators also need to spread out the love since they have to "sell" to all 30 teams. 2. i don't know much about hartshorn, but payne strikes out a bunch, and also may not be "helium" since he was a highly regarded prospect to begin with.
  9. Welp. Rodriguez did great and they got 3 outs from a special night.
  10. Is it back? If so I missed it. In the last JuCo was the only way you could sign via the draft and follow (or was it “DFE”?). Manny Parra and maybe Lorenzo Cain were a few the brewers signed in that process.
  11. Antunez has been one of the better bats in the ACL over the past month. Over his last 24 games (68 AB), he's hitting .338/.418/.544 with an OPS of .962. Just as notable as the batting line is what's happened to his strikeout rate — he's gone from a season-long K% of 32.0% down to 21.5% over this stretch (17 K in 79 PA), while maintaining a 13.9% walk rate. For context, his full 2026 season line across 56 games sits at .288/.386/.516 (.902 OPS) with 9 HR, 4 3B, and 26 BB — already a significant step forward from his 2025 DSL line of .215/.353/.282 (.635 OPS) in a comparable number of games. Stats (last 24 G): 68 AB, 23 H, 5 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 11 BB, 17 K, 2 SB .338 BA / .418 OBP / .544 SLG / .962 OPS / 21.5% K%
  12. Antoine Kelly? He’s pitching for Iowa Cubs. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=kelly-000ant he is apparently on the 40-man roster as well. https://www.mlb.com/cubs/roster/40-man But Devanney is on that short list with Hamilton, Kelly and maybe Paxton Schultz as players who have some mlb value in 2026 although none would be considered reliable “losses”.
  13. True that he is not one of value who got away. Hamilton probably is but since he returned, Kelly is the only other one on a 40 man roster…. So I guess he is the best of the group by default who is not currently with the Brewers.
  14. Nice catch and a nice little run by Black. @Joseph Zarr- you linked Black;s catch again in that post above - would love to see Miller CS throw.
  15. welp, T-Rats are being no hit. ANd Josh Knoth with a rare bad outing. T-Rats been just dominated by Quad Cities. Today Kendry Chourio the highly regarded stud pitching prospect for KC (an 18 year old pitcher in high A) is mowing down the T-Rats hitters. Bummer.
  16. Those are good, however the DSL offensive numbers this season are ridiculous league wide, so our guys aren’t in the top 30-50 (except for Matos) in OPS or wRC+. Matos is having a great season, and Moneys/Frontado have a lot of great skills. This seems to be a better year than last year in terms of IFA/DSL prospects but no where near the 2024 class.
  17. And Henderson also is a guy who misses time, and really limited experience. I mean I have high hopes for him, but right now if he is starter #2 in the playoffs I'm a little worried about our chances. And I hope nothing long term for Harrison, but elbow soreness also makes you worry.
  18. Agree those are the most likely to honor commitments and not sign, but these things are also unpredictable. Last year a college pitcher did not sign, and we signed two of late Hs pitchers who were deemed highly unlikely to sign. But I am hopeful the 4 college guys sign, and 3 of the HS sign (although I hope for 4-5 to sign). But the heavy HS picks in 11-20 does make me hopeful the brewers feel confident about picks 1-10, because if someone at the top doesn’t sign that limits the pool and affects the budget of all bonuses..
  19. I would say any of the HS guys. But the brewers do regularly sign about half of these picks. Although my answer made me think of the college pitcher we didn’t sign last year. I looked it up and Parker Coil did get picked by Guardians - however even later in the draft than last year. Not sure his motivation for not signing, but it didn’t help his draft stock, but he at least will be in another organization who is known for player and pitcher development.
  20. Watched Mayorquin. Impressed. He is not big, but compact and looks mature in his stature. Good command overall, but a few non-competitive pitches, but mostly in or near the zone. He has a very good curveball. Apparently a change up although this untrained eye did not notice it, so either it's really good or not very good??? His fastball has life to it and is around 92-94 mph per the announcer, so that is solid. Renz has a similar looking arsenal but his curveball moves but doesn't seem to fool as much as Mayorquin (maybe no video / scouting report on him), and he has better command of his fastball but it is 88-89. Oh and Ibarguen made a few nice plays in LF. Maybe that bat can play at LF and DH, so he could be a sleeper prospect if he can keep on hitting and add a little more power to his profile, he has the size to do so.
  21. I think we could be “sellers” in the sense we don’t really buy. The way it shapes out 2028 could be a big year for the brewers with most of this roster intact, and a plethora of prospects who could be ready. The dodgers are just so far ahead of the field and the cubs are likely to sell everything to go in, with a possible locked out season for 2027, I’d keep the trade bullets for 2028. Maybe even offload a rule 5 or minor league FA eligible players or two for some other prospects. Yeah I know “hot take” but I don’t post often in major league forum and don’t watch games too much but watching today just made me pretty mad, and the fact is the team is truly poised for ‘more bites at the apple” but 2028-2030 could be some big bites if things fall in to line. This years team has had an amazing first half (really wanted so badly to get to 60 wins), but they feel like they overachieved (again), but unsure if it’s sustainable given Harrison on IL, Sproat is a work in progress, Priester and Woody are out, and the offense is too reliant on Bauers and streak Mitchell. Turang may have slowed down. Chourio is a nice mlb regular but not the all star we hoped for. Vaughn is solid but the injury (wasn’t it hamate) is limiting his power, and Yelich is a bench player pinch hitter at this point of his career. Would love to see what Lara and Pratt can do and get some playing time for other youngsters.
  22. Here;s hoping Aidan gets a Knaak for getting Ks Grant takes the Hill for Milwaukee some day Kellan Tom-a hawks some HRs Chase hets them to chase Mora his pitches And the PDS can get Andrew some more Gaines on his velo. i got nothing for Oshinskie. End of my dumb bad/dad puns lol but seriously looking forward to see what these young men can do in their professional career.
  23. I walk away for a few minutes after Luis gets himself into an 0-2 (or was it 1-2) hole. And come back to see a grand slam. What an inning. 2 out rally with 4 walks and the HR. Nice job T-Rats!
  24. Nice patient at bat by Hall. Down 0-2 in the count looks at a close miss (but a ball) and then fouls several off and draws a walk. 5-3 good guys. Castill up next after the pitching change.
  25. What an uncomfortable position for a pitcher. Payne and Dickinson on base and Bitonti up. Double steal and Bitonti just misses the 3-0 pitch and fouls it back. Bitonti takes the walk. Good patience young man. Would love for Bitonti to get his July back to May/June production. Hall up with bases juiced.
