  1. There is likely zero percent truth to any rumors of Hardy being asked to move to 3B anytime during this season. It's been pretty obvious (to all but Macha) that Gamel would be the man there soon (and also that McGehee can hit the baseball and that we still have hopes for Tyler Green someday somewhat soon).
  2. Lopez is our third best hitter bar none since he's been here. Maybe a whole lot of teams won't but a couple teams will be willing to give their pick up for a guy that can hit over .300 with some pop and speed and flexibility to play several positions.
  3. Meh, we don't need another Looper, and being one of the worst 50% of the teams this year (cringe) means this is the year to avoid the type B's and go for a type A if any year is that year. I am hinting at Lackey and Harden of course. People that say Kelvim Escobar could be the best value are right, but that just means Boston or NYY or someone else will give him a better deal than u (kind of similar to Penny this year....he was in a similar situation and prefered to go to a team like Boston). Brett Myers is in a similar situation, probably without the upside of KE. I can live with Washburn or Davis as a #3 as well, if we can pry a #2 in a trade somehow. I think most of us probably feel one of these two are the most realistic. Off topic, did anybody see how close Felipe Lopez is to being a Type A free agent as opposed to just a Type B free agent? How would that change things?
  4. You may be right. We probably had to try and do this deal with them taking Bill Hall. Now, maybe we'd need to figure Suppan into the equation. I guess when you figure salaries would need to balance out a bit combined with being in the same division, getting Harang is unlikely. That said, I'll be quite sad when he bounces back into the #2 pitcher we desparately need next season. And I'll be thinking of what could have been had we bought low on him.
  5. I like the looks of Harang for Hardy in the off-season. I see no real need for either side to add anything. It's a slight gamble for both sides, yet both players could conceivably still play in another couple of all-star games. Maybe throw in some change-of-scenery-needing prospects on both sides to make it a bigger deal. Probably something like Hardy-Iribarren-Dillard for Harang plus.
  6. Might even help get Dave Duncan here to help our pitching staff. A longshot I know, but it could be. I know Dave was furious that his son was dealt for Lugo.
  7. Any interest in picking him up, thinking to next year moreso than this year? He was just released by Boston. I know he's been pretty bad this year, but if we dangle Hart in the off-season, Duncan could be a guy to consider in LF. He could probably be had for cheap and might really pay off. I'd bet he'd like to be in the NL and NL Central at that. Thoughts?
  8. Is there any point to bringing him up? Escobar clearly will need/deserve the PT now that we are out of it. If we really want the best hitter in (if we are dying to win a certain game) Counsell has proven all year that he's better than JJ. I don't see where JJ will/should get PT on this club. His time in Milwaukee should be completed.
  9. Agreed. I'll happily pass. Weeks is fine with me, along with offering Lopez arby, along with realizing Lawrie is probably under two years away from being ready. Let's spend our resources on pitching. If anything, I'd like a big time bat to help out Braun and Fielder, probably in the form of a right fielder. Other than that, give some of these kids more of a shot and let's just get some decent pitching in Milwaukee.
  10. I don't see why our brass would all of a sudden jump Lucroy over Salome. He may well be the better prospect, and very easily may be the better defender and game caller too. But I'll be shocked if Lucroy is in the majors and Salome is in AAA next season. In all liklihood, Lucroy is our AAA catcher. And I believe we go with Salome and Rivera in the majors this year, especially after our freefall screams that more cheap, young talent is needed in our lineup to enable us to spend on pitching.
  11. I agree Lackey is worth chasing. I also like Harden more than most. Beyond that, see what if anything less a Davis/Washburn would take to come here and add one more starter via trade (likely for Hardy plus).
  12. I wish we'd go after a guy that's been a #1 or #2 when it's a buy low situation. Millwood, Washburn, Vazquez, Harang all within the past year could have been bought pretty low player-wise due to what their contracts are. It seems guys that have been a 1/2 have a decent chance of bouncing back and making you look great in the deal. And even if they don't, you are buying low so you're still coming out ok on the deal if they pitch like a 4.
  13. What do you mean Logan.....that he has an attitude problem that will cause him to stall and never reach the majors, or that he'll wear out his welcome in the organization and be shipped away in a trade? Or am I way off?
  14. Are you telling me we couldn't have added a Harang/Arroyo/Padilla pretty easily in a deal centered around Hall and adding something minor (or salary)? I sure hope not...
  15. I am just guessing, due to wear of their pitching staff and in an effort to save their arms as much as possible given that they (as well as us) are out of contention, it'd be to their advantage to get an extra start out of a guy (Arroyo in this case) that they would in theory care less about after today. Then again, if he gets hurt the trade would obviously be off, so it goes both ways. It's all hypothetical anyway, just something I noticed and thought was a possibility I guess.
  16. Well, for King Felix, they were willing to give up the M's choice of any FIVE of the following players....Clay Buchholz, Daniel Bard, Justin Masterson, Nick Hagadone, Michael Bowden, Felix Doubront, Josh Reddick, and Yamaico Navarro. So I am not certain that including one in the V-mart trade or in a Lee trade had it been made would have been a deal breaker. Would JJ alone get us Clay, maybe not. But I don't see where he is untouchable by any means.
  17. I am just thinking Cinci will want a sweeter (of who knows how sweet) to ship us Harang in a deal for Hall. I think Arroyo is more likely (and would still praise Doug for getting a pitcher of his level for Hall). I notice Arroyo throws tonight. Maybe Cinci wants to get one more start out of his arm before dealing him to us? It'd make sense to me to get that extra start out of him if they could.
  18. We need to coax Cinci to give us Harang in a Hall plus swap. Then we have a #3 starter imho. Bush and Parra can be the 4/5. All you need to do (yeah, it's real easy) is hit on your JJ plus trade in the off-season. Hopefully Melvin can get the right young/unproven arm that can be a solid 2/3. A rotation of Gallardo/Bucholtz/Harang/Parra/Bush can be good enough to get us into the playoffs provided we hit at a good level and the bullpen is as it was before we had no starting pitching.
  19. I will take Arroyo over Suppan any day of the week. If we can bump Hall from the roster (obviously already done) and Suppan from the rotation without adding much salary, we improve a bit imho. I think adding Arroyo will place Suppan as the longman next year, which should make us a little better team.
  20. I much prefer Harang to Arroyo, as I see Harang as a 2/3 and Arroyo as a 4. Still, maybe wrongly, I never would dream of getting a starter of either caliber for Billy even if we need to throw in a (minor) sweetener.
  21. If true, maybe some of you will realize why we should avoid trying to make decent-sized deals with the Yankees (some seemed to forget how they insisted the Cameron deal had to go this past winter).
  22. Please get us Harang. I know some here are doubting him, but I again see a #2/#3 starter here easy, and we desparately need one of those.
  23. I think this is precisely why Hardy will be down in AAA for a couple days after September 1st. I think trading Hardy with two years left on his deal might get us someone like Guthrie from Baltimore. And I believe we can then add a Washburn/Davis and then stash Suppan in the long relief role/6th starter when an injury occurs.
  24. Check out Taylor Green's BA in AA. I don't know why people are thinking he's going to solidify 3B in two years for certain. I know he was hurt and is better than his numbers, but let's not pencil him in anywhere until he does well at the higher levels.
