  1. Hardy should be dealt in the off-season for pitching (probably should have been dealt earlier than this). Hart, I'd like to see get a shot at the CF job rather than paying Cam a ton of money. Hart's stats now will look a whole lot better in CF, and I still think he has a chance to get over the year-plus of more average hitting that he's stuck in right now.
  2. I like that post MNBrew. I tend to be in the same boat you are in with Cameron. I won't argue that he's very good defensively or even that he offensively is one of the better CF's. I just fail to believe he's a guy our organization should be paying ten million dollars to next season.
  3. That's fine...but I've used the same logic and said you can't pencil all these youngsters into the lineup next year and expect the team to contend, as well. I disagree if you are replacing Kendall (Salome) and Hardy's (Escobar) production, as well as adding a bat as potent as Gamel's should be. ETA - When you have Braun and Fielder (who at times are the only ones in the entire lineup producing anyway), we could make this work a lot easier than almost any team in baseball.
  4. Agreed Craig. It's a very good buylow option for us. Imagine what teams would say about Hardy if he had the same contract after looking strictly at his stats this season...
  5. Well, in the NL, where the pitcher hits, you can't have black holes like Hardy and Kendall in the lineup. I'd also like to have a guy or two hitting over .250 somewhat consistently in the second half of the lineup.
  6. I have to agree with End on this one. I believe Harang represents a huge"buy low" opportunity (in terms of talent we'd need to give up). I see a Vazquez type turnaround for the guy on his next team.
  7. I read on MLB traderumors that Boston offered those five for Felix and Seattle turned it down. Seattle got their pick out of a list of Boston's best prospects, but those five were the ones that stuck out to me. Jack turned it down I guess though.
  8. Does anyone think Seattle was dumb for NOT trading Felix for the fivesome of Bucholtz, Masterson, Bowden, Bard, and DeClarmen? I know I for one would give up Yo for those five. I am wondering if people would give up Felix for those five, as it was reported all five were offered for Felix... Edited, thanks for pointing out my mixup Invader.
  9. I guess one thing I disagree with some of you on is Suppan being in next year's rotation. I believe he'll be the longman in the bullpen and the "6th starter" that fills in when injury occurs. Yeah, he's got a huge contract. But that contract is going to look bad anyway. There's no sense in having him start all four years just because of the contract, a la how we basically handle Hall (he fills in when there's an injury otherwise he hardly plays and it'll be this way next year too if he's here). I believe Yo, Parra, and Bush are in the rotation next year. I believe the other two spots are filled in the offseason...one through a Hardy trade and one through a signing.
  10. I guess I think the opposite. I happen to feel we have two soon-to-be ready major league catchers in Salome and Lucroy. At some point, we need to be going with guys from our own system rather than filling every position with a trade or free agent signing. We seem to have a reluctance to do this for any non-allstar. We need to allow Salome a shot next year imho as one of our two catchers. If he doesn't pan out, Lucroy should be ready by June next year.
  11. Robert, I think there's a decent chance we can get that trade done in the off-season. You have got to believe that the Royals will hate Betancourt by the end of this season. Hardy is also as much of a "name" player as the Royals are going to get. I'd say this trade still could materialize. Good cal,l.
  12. That's a good point DHonks. Do you know roughly how long we'd have to keep Escobar down before calling him up for good next year to delay his free agency a year? Is it May or June sometime?
  13. End sure isn't a fan of my posts. LOL. Well, ten million would be tops for me. 15 mil is absurd. I just figure an older guy like Cam might take a ten mil over two years to stay in Milwaukee. Who knows what the market will be in free agency in the off-season. There weren't many position players getting ten million a year this past off-season, that is for sure.
  14. We could do worse than adding Davis as our free agent signing and trading Hardy for another starter. Pair these two with Yo, Parra, and Bush. Suppan pitches as the longman out of the bullpen and as our starter if injury occurs.
  15. I agree. I'd like Cam back for a one or two year deal. But the question is, is 5 mil a year enough for the guy. Or does he want/need more?
  16. It's not the end of the world to finish over .500 this year and not make the playoffs. I don't mean to sound complacent because I am not. But we're not the Yankees. We're not going to make the playoffs every year. Smart move not dealing our top prospects. Maybe I am in the minority, but life will go on when Prince leaves. The window to make the playoffs, provided we don't trade the Gamels/Escobars/Lawries, will always be there provided Doug doesn't panic and makes sound decisions. Errors, he has made, but he did not panic at the deadline and this will pay off in the near future.
  17. Wasn't Capellan also supposed to be pretty high end. Either a closer or a top two starter?
  18. How bad do you guys think Hart would be at center? I don't have an understanding for outfield defense as well as some of you. It'd be nice if he could handle it though. We could easily find a nice bat for his corner outfield spot.
  19. I would have went with Ron Rightenour myself. My favorite replacement player that doubled as a Brewers starter ever!!!
  20. I think you meant called up Angel. As in Angel Salome, who would help the staff out with his bat, but I'm not sure enough to compensate with his glove.
  21. I really came around on this guy. Too bad we couldn't get it done. If they really wanted a young MLB ready starter and another good prospect, I guess we had no shot. But if they don't have a catching prospect, I'd think we could have added something to a Salome or Lucroy to get it done.
  22. We have no AAA arms. Our best ones were the Burns, Smith, and Swindle. Yikes!!!
  23. How is KC looking for catching prospects? I am wondering if one of Salome/Lucroy and one of our promising "A" ball pitchers could get it done for Bannister. I would really like him at that price (provided the Brewers see a near MLB future for both catching prospects so that one of them is about ready to take over the reigns).
  24. Maybe with Detroit getting Washburn, somehow in a a misled way of thinking, Mark A will decide to allow a Harang for Hardy deal (if it was really a legit deal that he turned down).
  25. Yeah, there was scuttlebut about a Hardy for Harang trade at the messge board on the Brewers.com site too. I'd do it, as I am higher on Harang and lower on Hardy than most here. But I highly doubt the two division rivals will shake hands on a deal like this.
