  1. I don't think I need to respond to that. The link says Hardy was #1 last year and Cameron was #2. I will just go with that,
  2. The fact Cameron was the second most valuable last year tells me how accurate that sight is. Again, I hope Doug has memorized the cell phone number of any GM that thinks Hardy is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
  3. I would like to regularly trade with any GM that thinks Hardy was by far our best player last year. That had to have been a joke...
  4. The above also don't have a fraction of the defensive ability as Escobar. And he's hardly not hitting. He might not have a perennial all-star bat, but I think he'll match Hardy's one or two for his career. Escobar is a shade of a lesser prospect than Braun/Fielder/Weeks. Probably right with his cohorts Gamel and LaPorta and a shade better than Hardy.
  5. Nah, we'll just give you McGehee for Harden. JK. McGehee's value has gotta be getting up there though when you consider his contract and how long he's under his team's control.
  6. Include Hardy instead of Escobar if we do make an offer. It'd be a bold move, but it might be our best chance of ever getting to the promise land. I am not sure it truly happens without a bold move, but it'll be a fun (hopefully more than) few years anyway! Edited to add if Weirdos is accurate and Hardy/Parra/Salome could get it done, it would be absolutely ludicrous not to make that offer and figure out shortstop for the rest of the year on the go. If you really don't want to use Escobar there til next year, use McGeehe there and let Gamel handle third.
  7. Our only chance of getting Haren would be to give them the top pitcher in our minor league system. So they could pick whomever, including Braddock or Peralta. Keep in mind, our minor leagues current "top pitcher", whomever that may be in your opinion, is likely not as good as the top pitcher of competing teams that Arizona would insist on to get a deal for Haren done. Again, I think my proposal hardly shakes up our minor league system and think it would make us a stronger team in the playoffs for sure.
  8. Yep, I'd give them an offer of... 1) Hardy 2) Parra 3) Their pick of Salome or Lucroy 4) Their pick of any minor league pitcher in our system That offer to me would hardly bottom out our system and might even be enough for them to consider the deal.
  9. If we only have Braun and Fielder as solid, potent bats in the lineup, then Hardy and/or Hart need to be dealt now and probably should have a long time ago. I don't advocate trading for a bat if only because so many here have convinced me how great those two are.
  10. I don't see any reason why Catalanatto can't outproduce Hart or match his production the rest of the year if we can deal Corey for pitching. I am starting to see Kapler in Cat, and Kapler was better than Corey the second 2/3 of last season.
  11. Consider the hatred for JF well understood.

  13. No idea what they'd be looking at. I'd be willing to give Fracouer a shot here in a platoon role for the rest of the year to see if the change of scenery might help. I'd take him along with Vazquez if that sweetened the deal enough from Atlanta's side, but i would not be adding JF thinking that I am getting the player of three years ago. Catching might not fit for Atlanta, but I think that this trade deadline is the one where we decide who we like more...Salome or Lucroy. Deal the other one in a move for pitching. A while back, we were wondering what some of our AAA prospects might yield us. Guys like Iribarren, Heether, Katin, Dillard. Is anybody else thinking that the rumors with Arizona would maybe focus on two of the aforementioned in exchange for Doug Davis? I can see Melvin hoping to add a starter by throwing a few of those types at teams and seeing who the best pitcher they can land is.
  14. This team needs a few things. Possibly a few too many to make it worth giving up minor league talent for if at least 20 of the 25 man roster doesn't play at or above expectations. Right now, I'd say about 12/13 or half of the roster is playing at or above expecations, and that's not going to cut it no matter who is added.
  15. Vazquez has been very good this year. A legit, good #2. I'd definitely do Hart for Vazquez, especially if we can get a decent starting OF in a separate deal.
  16. I am not saying the error wasn't horrible. I am saying that worse players like Kendall/Hall/etc. would not be ragged on like BS did to Gamel. And this one just jumped out to me because he constantly will do it to rookies that are talented. Like he has a vendetta against GOOD young starting players because he wasn't one and the less talented vet should be in there.
  17. And Schroeder goes at it again ripping Gamel for the error. Why does he despise talented young players so much?
  18. Is there any chance of Cappy coming back at the tail end of this year? Wasn't he going to begin throwin in July or am I mistaken?
  19. I figured you meant in your previous post adding a 4th/5th type starter, which on our team would put whomever is added at about the same level as Suppan. I must've misread that. Sure, I'd love Washburn, who might be the best starter on the market and sure to command an overpayment by some team, possibly the Brewers.
  20. Do you think Escobar on this very day has more value than Hardy? I have no point but I will stop my question there and hope for answers...
  21. While I can be talked into agreeing with you John, getting, say, a Suppan-type, has a chance to end up with the same amount of egg on our faces as getting another Parra type. For cheap, I'll take Sanchez, but for the same price, I could be talked into a Padilla-type as well.
  22. If only JJ looked like Corey Hart, Doug would have been able to pull the trigger on this deal.
  23. If you throw both Parra and Sanchez at the wall, I am guessing one of them will find a way to stick by August. I am just saying as a buy low, it could be our best chance of getting a pitcher that can do more to help the starting staff than a Vincente Padilla type (which is all that is really going to be out there without overpaying big imho).
  24. No reason that shouldn't be here if he's close to as good as Hart and going to be much cheaper starting next season. People that want to keep guys like Hart/Hardy are going to have to realize that their cost/benefit ratio is about to not look so pretty and realize we are not a big market team. If we have competent guys that can be as effective (if not slightly less or more effective), then we're going to need to risk it at some positions. It bothers me some that people don't see a place for some of our AAA guys based on the way our everyday lineup outside of Braun/Fielder are producing.
  25. I love the thought of buying low here. He was pretty good last year and seems to have some "stuff". Kind of like Manny I guess...but if they are that sick of him, let's offer a 2-3 of our "extra" AAA guys (Heether/Katin/Iribarren/Dillard/Koshansky) and see what happens.
