The Red Sox left Urias in the minors when their current middle infielders are all OPS'ing under .700. I think that should tell us a little bit about what teams think of him.

I know next to nothing about this guy but if they feel his bat improves the major league team they need to just bring him up and stick him at DH the rest of the year. Let him focus on hitting and not worry about having to play defense.

The Cardinals once again proved what trash they are. Last night, Ian Happ hit Contreras in the back of the head on his back swing. He was bleeding pretty bad and had to come out of the game. Mikolas is on the mound and throws the next pitch at his head and misses him. Next pitch nails him in the back. Happ walks down to first and the umpires get together and decide to eject Mikolas. Obviously the right call as there was no doubt it was intentional. Miles is quite upset and you can see him trying to say that it slipped. As he's walking off the field he's jawing with the Cubs dugout looking like he's telling them to come get him. The Cubs dugout, on the other hand, is laughing at him. David Ross is visibly confused as to what is even going on. Mind you, this is all of 2 outs into the top of the 1st inning. As if the actions on the field weren't bad enough, I watched the Cardinals broadcast of the sequence of events and the announcers were literally screaming mad that Miles got tossed. Two lines that stick out to me were "the umpires have no feel for the game" and "he did it the right way, he hit him in the back". Marmol wasn't ejected right away but when he was they went on to say that "this is only going to make things worse. this game is going to get out of hand now". (spoiler alert: it didn't. nothing else happened other than the Cardinals getting spanked). It amazes me how this organization can continually be bush league and employ trash people.

I don't know or care who the article is suggesting but I wish the front office would read the headline and go, "Hey, there's an idea we haven't thought of before. Let's give it a try."

Management loves noodle bats that can stand on all kinds of different parts of the field. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Less sarcastically, I think they'll be giving Yelich a lot more DH time and let the kids play the outfield. So there really isn't a place for Huira to get PA's anyway. -
I'm wondering the same thing about Adames more and more.

That seems like a lot to give up for a pitcher who has been horrible in back to back seasons.

Ohtani will be an interesting X factor this trade deadline. Not because he might be traded but how many teams are going to avoid adding payroll beyond this season hoping to have room to sign him this winter? I think that alone might keep Arenado from getting traded. Especially to a big market team.

I don't think Hiura fixes anything but we've got a whole thread about trading for a 1B in the rumor forum talking about marginal upgrades that will cost prospects and/or money. Keston costs nothing but the roster spot of one of our current horrible hitting players. -
Every year from May through at least the end of July. I just had to fish a bunch out of the kiddie pool last week.

I'll make a bold prediction that he will not be in Nashville past the trade deadline. He will either be in Milwaukee or traded. I think they'll make every effort to acquire a hitter that improves the lineup (and when that inevitably fails because they'll never give up what it takes for that kind of hitter) they'll bite the bullet and DFA Winkler and bring Keston up to DH the rest of the year. -
A slight improvement at 1B does next to nothing to make this team better.

I'm aware of that which is why I make such an effort to recycle paper as much as I can.

I'm far from a green freak, enviro-nut but it really bothers me when people can't even do the simplest parts of recycling. The first thing I do everyday when I get to work is take all the pieces of paper out of the garbage can and put them in the recycling bin which is less than an inch away from the garbage. I'm talking large amounts of whole sheets of paper not just little scraps or postit note type things. My work had an event last weekend and on Monday I had to cleanup stuff from that which meant I broke down about 10 very large boxes most of them full of paper packing material. After I collected it all my boss helped me take it behind the building where I assumed we had a dumpster for recycling. Nope, he chucked it all in the trash and I died a little bit inside.

Until they can put an un-embarrassing offense together the manger won't matter.

The idea of "if we only we could or were willing to spend X-amount more dollars" just doesn't matter to me. Good players come at all price points. Arnold and Stearns have both pretty much focused on the all or nothing sluggers and the no bat, utility players and the results have continually been the same. When the sluggers are hot they can make up for the wet noddle bats. When they're not, every great 7IP/3R pitching performance goes to waste.

$5M buys you nothing. That'll get you maybe an above average reliever or a utility bench bat. The offense is trash and has been trash for years. The front office needs to totally overhaul how it evaluates hitters and probably totally overhaul the entire hitter group. The team is in the bottom third of the league in K%, runs per game, AVG, OBP, and SLUG. About the only thing they appear to do well statically is draw walks but when you suck in every other offensive part of the game that doesn't help all that much. The whole pitching and defense thing can only get you so far. At some point you have to actually put runs on your side of the scoreboard.

Sure enough he was. That's the first time I've seen that angle of it. Every other replay I've seen showed him sitting in the dugout so I assumed that's where it happened. That seems pretty easy to remedy by just screening off the area directly perpendicular to the hitter.
