  1. All Star break would be a good guess. Should be interesting what they do. Problem isn't his value, it is the fact a market hasn't taken shape yet. Last night's radio broadcast said Davis would be activated Monday or Tuesday.
  2. I don't think baseball fans nationally really care anymore about the Braun PED thing... At least to the extent that some on this board seem to think. Exactly. Maybe there'll be some boos because the game is in Cincinnati, but outside of St. Louis and Milwaukee I don't think anyone really cares anymore.
  3. Good lord no! Parra is in no way worth $14M and not to the 2016 Brewers. And he would be stupid to decline it too.
  4. Ya, it doesn't end up anywhere near Wrigley but it might have a stop somewhat closer.
  5. I know people don't put a whole lot of stock in to something like this, but he's on pace for 30 HR and 100 RBI on one of the worst teams in baseball. He definitely seems back to really, really good player level. Not the Hall of Fame, Superstar level he was before, but still pretty darn good. The All Star has to be him or Krod. No one else is even close.
  6. They tried that approach already. Just getting guys and sticking them wherever doesn't really work. It can work if you have a stacked rotation ala the Tigers of a few years ago. But, yes, I'm sick of the general apathy towards defense of this franchise.
  7. This is just another way for rich teams to get top talent. They've got free agency, the draft, and international free agency. Thank goodness those teams at least let Doug get a slightly above average player off the waiver wire every now and then.
  8. I would guess that makes a huge difference. Just for a quick comparison: Gallardo: Career ERA: 3.63 2015 ERA: 2.72 Career FIP: 3.69 2015 FIP: 3.45 Estrada: Career ERA: 4.15 2015 ERA: 3.58 Career FIP: 4.13 2015 FIP: 4.26 Basically both are putting up their career FIP but their regular ERA's are well under their career numbers. Luck and defense is what I'm getting from that.
  9. Rebuild? Last time I checked, the Astros are leading the AL west, halfway through the season. I wouldn't say they're in a rebuild. In fact, when it comes to prospects, they're loaded. Daz Cameron, the 37th pick in the draft, was ranked high by many scouts. They're stocked. They could give up pieces. And the Brewers need a ton of pieces. The Brewers need a trade with the Astros more than the Astros need a trade with the Brewers. They haven't won anything yet, hence, rebuild. They are on the upswing. There is no reason to start trading young guys at this point.
  10. I doubt Kranitz had anything to do with their performance in Milwaukee. Perhaps ironically, last year I spent a good amount of posts stating that Gallardo and Estrada were basically the same player based on thier numbers yet they were viewed drastically differently. Either way I hope the entire coaching staff is cleaned out this offseason.
  11. Which is why I don't understand why we have a team there...Seems like a horrible idea to put young guys in that situation. I hope we are gone from CS after that 2 year lease is up, just seems stupid. The Brewers didn't really have a choice. After Nashville hung them out to dry Colorado Springs and some other place were the only spots left.
  12. He's admitting to do it just claiming he didn't do anything illegal. Ok? I still don't see the Cardinals getting punished in any way that us Brewer fans want to see.
  13. A coat rack with a glove taped to it could play a passable LF in Minute Maid. I think Parra would be a great get for them. Gomez is going to cost more than they should be willing to give up at this point in their rebuild.
  14. 5.5 man rotation until something happens with Lohse or Garza. Save some innings on Nelson, Jungman, and Peralta. No reason to burn those guys up this year.
  15. It's tough to judge what he's done as I'm sure Moreno just told him to put a winner on the field at all costs and Scioscia probably has more pull than him in the organization anyway.
  16. The organization needs to actually care about defense first instead of just drafting bats and then shoving them in LF/RF/1B.
  17. I haven't watched it in years but anything to make it go faster is a plus. Batters take at least 3 pitches for every swing. I've always wondered why after a batter swings that the pitchers even throw the ball because the batter isn't going to swing for at least 30 seconds. Why waste your arm?
  18. Good lord, the international market is such a big mess. The signing pool helped a little bit but they need for an international draft like 20 years ago.
  19. I've had people I've met in person but had no digital/recorded contact with and no common Facebook friends show up as "people I may know" before. I don't think there is anything heinous going on there.
  20. http://m.mlb.com/video/v197393583/ladchc-tempers-flare-between-lester-homeplate-ump I hope Mr. Fletcher gets at least a fine from this but a suspension is definitely warranted. A player and manager should not have to restrain an umpire from going after a player. Especially when the player is not going after the umpire. I don't buy that Lester was just mad at himself and he most likely said some things but he never left the mound and he never even looked at Fletcher.
  21. What bugs me is that there are things like Chicago and MLA that are supposed standards but have differences. The copywriter at a place I was working at a couple years ago was in a similar situation and didn't know what to do because MLA and Chicago had conflicting standards. Our department head told her to do whatever she wanted just make sure to do it that same way all the time.
  22. I can't believe that it is coming from a major league GM. He admits that they did not "shop" Touki, so he doesn't really know what Touki's value was among other teams. If the D-Backs got rid of Touki because they didn't believe he was very good then I have no problem with that. My issue is that clearly other teams still think he has significant value so why not strive to receive the maximum value in exchange for trading him. EDIT: Fangraphs' Dave Cameron (ARTICLE LINK) does a more complete and articulate job than I am capable of in his criticisms of Dave Stewart. Dave Stewart seems very "old school minded." I can see him making decisions based on RBI's and W's.
  23. Jonathan Lucroy is never going to move to 1st by choice. He would have to be pushed there by just sucking on defense or injuries dominating him. No way the Brewers extend him just to move him to first. His bat would be of no use there. Joe Mauer. Great hitter for a catcher. Average to below average hitter as a first basemen. Please god do not let the Brewers pull a Mauer with Lucroy.
  24. If you're going to use the "gambling is against the rules and it doesn't matter if it's a disease" argument, then Josh Hamilton should have banned for life a few times already.
  25. Amazing show. I don't remember if I posted it in this thread or started one for it but the previews made it look like it would last about 3 episodes.
