  1. Someone help me here... Ramos can be traded even while on the DL, correct? I think there is a common belief that players on the DL are ineligible to be traded, but I am fairly certain that is false.
  2. The Angels traded Second Baseman Ian Kinsler to the Red Sox. From MLB Trade Rumors:
  3. [pre]Brewers Lineup Dodgers Lineup 1. Christian Yelich (L) RF 1. Joc Pederson (L) LF 2. Mike Moustakas (L) 3B 2. Manny Machado ® 3B 3. Lorenzo Cain ® CF 3. Max Muncy (L) 1B 4. Travis Shaw (L) 2B 4. Yasmani Grandal (S) C 5. Ryan Braun ® LF 5. Cody Bellinger (L) CF 6. Eric Thames (L) RF 6. Chris Taylor ® SS 7. Manny Piña ® C 7. Chase Utley (L) 2B 8. Orlando Arcia ® SS 8. Yasiel Puig ® RF 9. Freddy Peralta ® P 9. Kenta Maeda ® P[/pre]
  4. They shock the baseball world and trade for 1.5 years of Madison Bumgarner along with rental catcher Nick Hundley.
  5. Your prediction is they are going to trade for all three? Now that is a BOLD prediction!
  6. I didn’t love the move at first either, but at this point we’ve kind of spoken our piece on it. I think it’s worth seeing how things play out before deeming the move a failure (or a success).
  7. From The Athletic article by Robert Murray titled, Brewers have the capacity to add an elite starter, but their willingness to pay the price is uncertain...
  8. Alright, somehow got out of that jam. GREAT play by Mouse for the second out at home. Now make it count with some runs!
  9. Some missed opportunities today. Also, Guerra and Albers walked four batters combined, and all four scored runs.
  10. I think he was out, but not convinced they will overturn it.
  11. Would love to see this inning to get around to Mouse with a chance to get right back in it.
  12. Not an earth shattering update, but David Stearns was on MLB Network Radio this morning. He said that he still thinks Jimmy Nelson may be able to return to the mound in September. He reiterated the complexity of the injury and subsequent surgery. If the Brewers are in the midst of a pennant chase it will be interesting to see what role they would trust Nelson with if all goes well in his rehab outings. I have a hard time envisioning him getting to the point where they would let him throw 100+ pitches in an outing this year.
  13. Suarez is through 4 innings with just 47 pitches thrown. Unless the Brewers get to him at some point I would guess we are going to see him for at least 3, and maybe 4 more innings.
  14. Last night the Nationals suffered a 10th inning walkoff loss on a hit by J.T. Realmuto. After the game Bryce Harper told the media, “If that guy was on our side, that wouldn’t have happened.” Nationals lost to the Marlins again today, 5-0 this time. The Nationals are 52-53. They are third place in the NL East, 6.0 back of the Phillies and 4.5 back of the Braves. They are 5.5 back of the second Wild Card, but have the Cardinals, Pirates, Braves, and Rockies ahead of them in pursuit of unseating the Diamondbacks for that second WC spot. This is an organization that has never appeared in an NLCS (since moving to D.C.). I am fascinated to see what they do over the next 48 hours. 1) Do they just sit with what they have, maybe add a small piece, and hope things go better over the last 57 games? 2) Do they try to make a big splash addition like J.T. Realmuto to try to make a run for the playoffs in Harper’s last year of control? 3) Or do they sell what they can in order to start building towards the future?
  15. I’m all for Orlando Arcia making hard contact from here on out.
  16. Braun mashing lefties the remainder of the season would really help balance this lineup.
  17. These are Andrew Suarez platoon splits versus RH batters and LH batters. Appears to be particularly tough on lefties who are hitting for just a .488 OPS against him this season.
  18. One takeaway from the current 2B situation is that I don’t think it is a position the Brewers are nearly as concerned about defensive profile as they are offensive production. Obviously having both are ideal, but while we hear about a focus on “up the middle defense”, I don’t think second base weighs heavily into that emphasis. I think we are close to the point where service time should be the only consideration holding Hiura back from playing 2B for the MLB team next year.
  19. It is starting to seem very likely that Chris Archer gets moved over the next two days. Lots of reports that the Padres are making a serious run at him with the Yankees also in the mix.
  20. Some game notes via the Brewers’ Senior Director of Media Relations, Mike Vassallo: And from Craig Mish:
  21. [pre]Brewers Lineup Giants Lineup 1. Lorenzo Cain ® CF 1. Andrew McCutchen ® RF 2. Christian Yelich (L) RF 2. Buster Posey ® C 3. Jesús Aguilar ® 1B 3. Brandon Crawford (L) SS 4. Ryan Braun ® LF 4. Evan Longoria ® 3B 5. Mike Moustakas (L) 3B 5. Pablo Sandoval (S) 1B 6. Hernán Pérez ® 2B 6. Steven Duggar (L) CF 7. Manny Piña ® C 7. Alen Hanson (S) 2B 8. Orlando Arcia ® SS 8. Gorkys Hernandez ® LF 9. Junior Guerra ® P 9. Andrew Suarez (L) P[/pre]
  22. That was a classy move the next day. Galarraga handled the whole thing so well. I’ll have to remember to use that next time the guys on my slowpitch softball team are barking at the umpire about a call at first base in a 10-run game.
  23. Halladay was before but only by like a week. Who can name the perfect game pitcher from the White Sox in 2012? Who can name the perfect game pitcher from the As in 2010? I remember the Phil Humber one just because it seemed so out of nowhere.
