  1. Guerra is an injury waiting to happen. His jump in productivity is due to throwing pitches that are not sustainable for longterm health. They absolutely should trade him if they can get value
  2. This thread, while entertaining, is telling. We value a player like Khris Davis or Chris Carter who only gets on-base at a .325 rate or so, yet focus a lot on one of Stearns' possible mistakes. No GM is going to bat 1.000 .... this is just year one of a multi year rebuild. When Corey Ray was drafted over a pitcher I was little concerned with what seems like a preoccupation with athletic outfielders, and wondered: where is the pitching going to come from? We've since added another athletic OF in Brinson, but also added more pitching. I don't know if the Susac acquisition is a reaction to disappointment in Nottingham or not.... (*note: edited for multiple grammatical errors)
  3. He came into tonight's game hitting .283/.387/.547 at Miller Park. No explaining it but might as well roll with it
  4. Arcia is hitting .318 with a HR & 2 Doubles in his last 22 at-bats. I sense he is turning the corner and adjusting to MLB pitching. Still think he's gonna be a star (edited for spelling)
  5. I'm not going to judge a person. Simply hoping he gets things squared away and I am thankful nobody got hurt. Sometimes when we watch people on TV or read about them, we feel like we know them, but that is absolutely not the case. I'm not directing that at anyone here, just speaking/typing in general.
  6. You could tell from the way he was swinging the bat earlier in the game that he was dialed in. I suppose they might have been looking at platoon advantages, righty vs righty. I would have walked Cutch and pitched to the LH batter Polanco. Easy for me to say of course. I still don't think you should just automatically shift on McCutchen either, no matter what the metrics say. He seemed to pretty easily hit a ground ball to where the 2B usually plays. Are they going by the percentage of ground balls he hits overall or is there a metric for "late inning at-bats with less than 2 outs and the go ahead run on 3rd"? Asking that seriously. At some point some old school Baseball IQ has to come into play here. The greats of the game can hit ground balls to 2B all day long, especially off of a pitcher who tops out at 92-93 mph!
  7. I don't get that sense from him at all (not caring). He works incredibly hard at the game. He is still a work in progress and has much to learn, like many young players, but I see in Santana someone who is all in during the game
  8. Fun game to watch. The Brewers are getting better. Not sure about pitching to McCutchen with 2 outs and a man in scoring position. Also not at all sure about using a shift against McCutchen either (I'm sure the metrics support it though)
  9. Martin is throwing out 30% of base stealers this year and league average is 27% .... doesn't seem worth it to sacrifice strikes for pop time, but are we sure that is what is going on?
  10. Broxton has made adjustments, but MLB pitchers will adjust back on him soon. It is too early to start planning his participation in future outfields, but the last month has been very encouraging. His athleticism is fantastic
  11. Broxton has hit .347/.453/.653 in the last 24 games. So good to see his development
  12. I steadfastly remain a Ned Yost fan, as always
  13. Manny Pina going yard was great to see. I realize he is 29 years old but maybe he can stick in MLB for awhile. He hit .329 in AAA this year, .305 the year before....
  14. The Brewers play a grand total of 9 of their last 29 games at home. That will likely have a heavy effect on the Win-Loss record at season's end.
  15. Chad Moeller is coaching/training both youth & adults in AZ at Chad Moeller Baseball. He was training Tebow recently http://www.chadmoellerbaseball.com/
  16. People want the 2014 Gomez back. I understand that. The Astros were hoping they were getting the 2014 Gomez, too, when they traded for him. The 2014 Gomez is in the past and today's Gomez might never play like that again. He has definitely been one of my favorite Brewers ever, and I hope he returns to glory, but it wouldn't make sense to bring him back. The young CF's need reps to show what they can do
  17. It is all just a small sample but I like that he's taking some walks and isn't just a free swinger. 7 out of the 11 times he's gotten on base he's scored, too. He has great speed. I think he's going to be just fine. His defense is elite
  18. Since I like to brag when I'm right, I will admit I was wrong for criticizing Doug Melvin at the time for not breaking the bank and paying Prince. It is funny as I have since come full circle in philosophy, sticking with the youth movement At any rate, I will really miss Prince, he was an easy guy to root for
  19. I think it is Brinson's job for 5.5-6 years once he's at the MLB level. Kid looks like the real deal to me
  20. "The no-trade protection in Ryan Braun’s contract allows the star outfielder to block a deal to every team besides the Angels, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Giants, Marlins and Padres, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports" http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/05/update-on-ryan-brauns-no-trade-list.html
  21. According to Fangraphs, Scooter is the 19th best 2B in MLB right now in WAR, 18th best in wRC+, 16th in SLG, 15th in OBP, among qualified players. If you put the minimum plate appearances at 100, he's only ranked 29th in WAR That ain't good http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=2b&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  22. Trevor Story out for remainder of season w/ a thumb injury. Since he's a Rockies player I thought I'd look up his Home/Road splits. Looks like the Coors Field factor is in full effect: Home Stats: .313/.393 /.693 Away Stats: .235 /.292/.454 Wow!
  23. I don't expect big moves for the rest of the season. Biggest moves will be Winter Meetings trades of Braun, Gennett, maybe Thornburg, maybe Nelson, maybe Guerra. And then the 2017 Draft will be interesting as always.
  24. very very happy to read that so good to see..... I like that the talent level is spread out from Rookie Ball through AAA, so we will start to see some of these guys (Brinson in particular) as soon as next year
  25. From what I can tell, Davies is the real deal. He gets tremendous movement on his pitches and I like the way he battles. I hope the Brewers are very conservative with pitch counts and innings pitched with him for the rest of the year and in 2017. If he can stay healthy he can be a big part of our run in 2018/2019
