  1. When the Yankees or Dodgers invetably unload their minor leagues and snap him up, it will only further cement the disparity of this system. When all baseball knows the Brewers are in position and needing him most and we want to see someone else with a crack at the title, but it still doesnt make sense as a small market team...
  2. I think fans can reasonably expect a lateral move for a rookie. at least then it makes some sense. The question is who has the most value to the team right now through the rest of the year and I would bet Pratt and the FO made the bet him for the future already.
  3. I think we have to throw in Harrison and that gets it done for sure
  4. right and when you consider players like Letson, Hardin, Fischer, Ebel, Burke, Dinges, and Quero, there is a good chance we will continue to reload as these guys graduate, like we just saw with Henderson/Payne
  5. BA added Payne (96) after adding Adamczewski last time
  6. almost feel sorry for Harrison. in a normal year, he would be the toast of Wisconsin right now. Now we almost have to explain who he is
  7. Payne led all hitters in April. Report is he's dealing with lower body stuff so it makes sense
  8. hopefully true but one good game against a pitcher who the entire lineup was crushing doesnt really show a trend yet
  9. yes, i think the move for Skubal makes as much sense for the Brewers as anyone. A third true "1" probably stacks us up quite well against the Dodgers in the postseason. That said, nobody on your list is considered a top 100 prospect, and that seems unlikely. The Dodgers and Brewers both have a healthy number of top 100 guys, and I expect any deal to require 1-2 of those types. A Lara, Williams, Fischer, Payne, Letson.. maybe even a Pena. The argument against by the FO is that the Brewers is still rising in talent and youth, so why sacrifice the future? But you'd certainly like to see this window of Miz/Contreras/Harrison/Turang/Chourio be used well.
  10. there's no incentive for him to take a 1-year deal. he's played himself into a real contract somewhere if he keeps it up
  11. I dont think we've had a roster quite this "feast or famine" before. last year, it was a bunch of pretty good pitchers and pretty good hitters. this year its great/poor hitters and great/poor pitchers. I would expect moves.
  12. Im not seeing it. We have weak pieces in the OF right now, and Bauers isnt one. He is the kind of pickup we might be interested in acquiring at the deadline if he wasnt already on the team right now. We are in the playoff hunt and you'd deal away one of the few bright spots in the lineup? What, to unload a cheap player while there is some value and make a competitor stronger? doesnt make sense to me.
  13. Who is the Chris Hook of batters? Maybe we need THAT guy...
  14. Gotta disagree completley on this. Last year we had a bunch of decent pitchers (2-4s) without a dependable, solid ace. This year we have two 1s and several 4-5s. Last year we had a bunch of 700 OPS guys and not much above or below. This year, we have guys above and guys far below. The aces are likley to see more playing time in the playoffs. The 5s can drop off. It would be nice to get at least a #2, whether that is Woody or QP or someone else. The bottom hitters are replaceable, probably in the org already. Or they can test the trade waters this year. Having a top-heavy rotation and replaceable hitters means this team is in good shape for postseason.
  15. been to T Rats games, but not for autographs. Just doesnt seem to be as much hype relative to other prospects and not listed in top 10 but has as good as many bigger names in the org
  16. no word, the other thread is checking on it. Pena reaches 5th time
  17. Pena is a very patient hitter. Fouls everything off until the walks come. Reached all 4 times tonight (3BB)
  18. Of all the hitters that are impressing on the Brewers farm, I think the Braylon Payne is quietly putting up one of the most impressive seasons of anyone. It's easy to forget about him, given that he's on a team with Fischer, Adamczewski, Dinges, Bitonti and Pena. He is supposed be a defensive CF like Lara. But he (age 19) has 10 HR already and is not far off Fischer (22) and Adamczewski (21) in OPS on the T-Rats. Think he might deserve some bigger attention soon.
  19. if this holds, brewers are going to make out like crazy. they already have the best FO in baseball, and now they get to add enough cash to compete with the Dodgers. Payroll diference would drop from 3x to 2x. Golden years of Brewers baseball about to take off like a rocket.
  20. Dodgers annual media contract is $334m. Brewers netted like $16m after taking it in house, i think.
  21. "go for broke" moves rarely work out and its just not necessary. There could still legitimately be a time to cash your chips in and go for it, but I dont think we are there yet. The time to revisit that conversation really is when Miz is near end of his contract and we dont have other aces waiting in the wings. Right now the brewers are still on the upswing, so its kind of stupid to piss away whats been built.
  22. With his size (his listed height of 5'11 might be generous) and speed (no steals), im not sure what position he is supposed to play at other than C. We've already moved Adamczewski to OF. Lara and Payne. One of Williams/Pena/Made/Fischer will need an OF spot. Chourio is a lock, Frelick & Lockridge are pre-arb. DH can always wait and we have a bunch of first/second round guys who are pulling the ball at the corners. We already have a platoon going with Vaughn/Bauers and the occasional aging vet (Yelich). Not like you plan for grooming a DH. Brewers are most susceptible at C of any position. Contreras might be gone soon. Quero still has questions, and not much else going on.
  23. the 4 starting pitchers the Brewers lost to in the playoffs faced the Brewers less than 7 innings during the regular season. yes, their hitters got to see our pitchers but ours didnt really get to see theirs. I also wonder if this is why Miz and Harrison didnt face the Dodgers this past week.
  24. im not talking about that. im talking about the fact that the brewers went 9-0 during the regular season last year against their B squad players and then got crushed in the playoffs.. again. its a joke. not saying the occasional miracle teams wont come along when all the stars properly align, but its not great for fans.
