  1. i just cant see Dodgers being that much better having been swept 6-0. Which is crazy itself and should give the Brewers some swagger relative to previous years. Some of our pitchers made them look silly. Dodgers have to prove they are worth the money and anything less than the WS win is a fail given the disparity. Brewers played the good teams well and had an incredible run differential after the Yankees Series. Brewers are sneaky talented. No reason to believe they shouldnt win this, but they are so far above expectations that it shouldnt be as much pressure.
  2. yeah i loved the idea of upgrading a bat before the deadline but not in the offseason, unless its a club-friendly trade. Just not necessary. 2026 is a year they could save a ton in salary and still expect to be highly competitive. Then be in position for any midseason adjustment that require money. They just have a lot of very good arms and bats at several positions that are close to the majors. No need to block them but if a good deal at SS or 3B comes our way, sure. If they save on salary, they will be in better position to adjust down the road.
  3. They played the long game here and it paid off and now they are sitting pretty for the postseason. Miz looked like a non factor to end the year and couldn’t be trusted. but with woody out, they felt they needed one more guy for an extended run. They know more on his progress in the simulations than we do and they felt this was a place they could roll the dice and see if he can help us That move also pulled Busch. I’m sure Pat knows how CC thinks. Others have covered the benefit of QP at Wrigley Our entire arsenal of pitchers including Peralta is available game 3.
  4. It’s only 5 games but the early returns for Chourio are pretty crazy. 10 hits including 3 HR
  5. I say put him in for 2 and if the brewers start the game with another 9 spot, you move to quintana or someone else. One can hope :) But seriously, its a solid strategy. They want to give Ashby the work regardless, so he gets to face the heart of the order at a critical juncture. Having some mystery around the actual starting pitcher perhaps forces Cubs to play the lineup card straight. Gives the Brewers options in case of crooked numbers in either direction, but also kinds of goes for the jugular in Game 2.
  6. i have also seen a much less aggressive approach at CF since his return and figured that was an intentional staff decision. We already saw and heard Frelick was changing his approach after coming back in order to protect his health for the playoff run. So i figured they told Chourio the same.
  7. ahh the virtue of obsessing over anything and everything that can divide us in hopes of some moral high ground
  8. Not understanding Perkins here with Contreras and Hoskins and Monte on the bench and RISP
  9. any chance they offload Yeli's contract? He's a solid member of the roster but the largest chunk of salary for a player who doesnt have a position. He becomes somewhat redundant and blocking other talented upcoming players going forward. That would give the team flexibility to lower payroll and allow them to capitalize on other opportunities they find to "go big", especially anything in-season.
  10. Head to head with Skenes and Kershaw and the allstar controversy in the first month-plus during the heat of the playoff battle. He didnt need the lead to dominate.
  11. I think in a season where mgmt seemed to make all the right moves, their kid gloves approach to the starters has taken a toll on the bullpen which is why we find ourselves "unlucky" with bullpen injuries right now. As for Miz being soft and needing to pitch with a lead, im not buying it. This kid was put in many high pressure situations and handled it well. The staff tried to find ways to cut innings to prep him for postseason so the IL stint was convenient. When he came back, he hasnt found his dominance but also didnt pitch long enough to find his groove. I would attribute much of today to not just the lead, but rather, to the time he was given to find his groove. Expecting to see more of this going forward and the Brewers lengthening his starts again in prep for postseason play.
  12. I was at the prior game he pitched vs Quad Cities and granted im not as tuned like you guys, but I was underwhelmed by his stuff. 20 years old. Fastball sat around 85-87 on the stadium gun most of the time i checked (3rd through 5th innings). The opponents were squaring up everything and making HARD contact but mostly foul. Yeah he got 6 Ks in less than 5 innings but that was a head scratcher to me.
  13. i cant see Collins as a backup after the season he's had, nor penciling in Mitchell as CF. Probably should flip one if you can add younger prospects.
  14. +163 run differential and maybe a 7.5 game lead on the rest of MLB since the opening series
  15. its more than a rest at this point. seigler has had some productive plays at third, but he seems to make every play an adventure somehow
  16. Been thinking the same. I can't believe how bad our opponents defenses have looked this year. Seems like high school at times
  17. Nobody is going to hand Williams a high leverage role this next year. Williams best bet is to find a staff that will help him rediscover his skills. And right now, there might not be a better place for that to happen than Milwaukee.
  18. I wonder when the last time a player had that dramatic of a shift, going from literally, the dead last worst hitter in baseball to one of the very best in the same season
  19. Demanding more value from the vaugn trade apparently
  20. Brewers braintrust figuring out how to get 1.000 OPS out of Lockridge and Jansen
  21. salary dump to make room for waiver wire
