  1. yeah, I've never had problems with Audacity so one of your setting must not have been correct.
  2. Wow, I've got to find a copy of that. Never heard of it until now. I'm sure it'll be a good read.
  3. Welcome back. I'm glad that you have seen the light.
  4. Congrats, hawing! I love that Claudell Washington was the starting RF for the Angels that game. Funny that I knew every single one of those guys without blinking twice.
  5. all I know is that if I'm going to be forced to learn a "password" or forced to do something funny/embarrassing just to get into the restaurant, then that food better be one of the very best meals I have ever tasted. Gimmick restaurants are fine but it better make memories that last for a long time and make me want to come back again.
  6. nice win! No, really! As for the kid, yes, I immediately thought of Borat when I saw that shirt. And then, as a music teacher, his singing was atrocious. He was trying to sing in his low voice on purpose, as if he was just imitating some adult or an album he had memorized. And then he just butchered the final note. If you're going to go for the big ending to "God Bless America" (i.e. going for the high-note ending rather than just going down to the lower notes) in public, you gosh darn better nail it. He didn't. And the only people not laughing were likely his parents.
  7. yeah, but is it like The Great Outdoors and you have to eat the whole thing? Fat and gristle included?
  8. Here's some pics from the big event. This is the cocktail. You pick your liquor (must be 80 proof or higher) and buy it at the bar, then bring your glass over to the table. The guy drops in the toe, says the proclamation for all in the bar to hear that you are about to join the club, and you drink it. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/DSC00591.jpg The Toe must touch your lips for it to count. Some people put the toe in their teeth or all the way into their mouths! http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/DSC00592.jpg You get a certificate for completing the task. Usually a round of applause, too. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/DSC00593.jpg
  9. nothing for being the closest? I didn't enter so I don't care, just wondering.
  10. it's the same toe over and over. But they do have other toes on hand in case you want to do the "sour foot cocktail" (all five toes at once). Of course, they joke (I think) that if you swallow the toe, you owe a toe. And they also say that many people in the Dawson City area have willed their toes to the cause.
  11. I did this 3 weeks ago when I was in Dawson City. It was pretty cool. I'll post a picture when I can find it off one of our CDs.
  12. I can't believe there wasn't a single, "I can't believe I stayed up for THIS!" post in 133 of them. So Cal, please allow the guy to have his opinion; your last post was rather condescending. Everybody sees the game differently and nobody is right or wrong in their own view of the game.
  13. Wow, I thought something like this would not happen, since they're rivals. Rosenthal just sent in to MLB Network that Gonzalez could be going to LA for maybe James Loney and others, perhaps Heath Bell in a blockbuster. I'm kind of stunned by this development.
  14. I think this is a very good deal for the Twins on the short term. Alexi Casilla (.474 OPS) is hitting with a toothpick at the plate, so Cabrera takes over at shortstop and Brenden Harris/Nick Punto take over at 2nd. The Twins did something to improve their infield. Bravo! With the Twins only 2 games out, they had to make a move like this. I think it's all good. Push-them-over-the-top good? Perhaps, since Cabrera had been swinging a hot stick lately (.900 OPS in July)
  15. I think you stated this incorrectly. For Hart to catch him by the end of the season, that implies that Counsell will stand pat and Hart will heat up immensely and catch him (Lopez is already there). I think it's more likely that Counsell drops down to Hart's output. Although Hart has had a "decent" July (.821 OPS) so I suppose he could catch Counsell.
  16. boy, this keeps getting better and better. Wonder how much he gets to play with the big club. I gotta think he's starting in the minors, right?
  17. I am almost positive that he wrote back in January that he'd be attending the HOF ceremonies for Henderson. So that takes care of where he was during the weekend. Perhaps, he's taking his time back to Wisconsin.
  18. I think Macha and the Brewers need to do this to get this club going. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/9111554098d9a9c1ef488a2cd53f4553e50f91f.jpg Then, put one up in the concourses, too, for the fans to marvel at. It's a win-win situation. Seriously, I can't get to any more games so my ticket buying is a non-issue. However, I would think that a lot more of the casual fan might get turned off to going to games once school starts up again (assuming things have not improved, that is.) Regardless of how many fans are actually in the ballpark, though, the Brewers will still end up with around 3 million fans in attendance, which is great. The Brewers will likely be standing-pat on the trade front and I don't think that will make much of a difference. It's the play of the team for the next 4 weeks or so that will.
  19. A few afternoon games on today on the West Coast. Matt Cain and the Giants are tied 0-0 going to the 10th inning against the Pirates. And Ryan Rowland-Smith is pitching very well in Seattle for 6 innings thus far. . . .
  20. Rice was voted in by the writers in his final year of eligibility, not by his peers.
  21. okay, I posted last night and then posted one more time and left it at that, thinking it was done. Boy, was I wrong. Been gone all day and this is the first opportunity I've had to read this. I'm kind of shocked. This was a prediction thread. I made a prediction. I thought the whole "sixth sense" thing would have been viewed as such. Apparently not. Thank you, peavey, for defending me, although I never, ever, would have thought that a prediction comment would be taken so literally. So I apologize that you had to defend me while I was enjoying myself at the lake. Otherwise, I am at a loss of words. Apparently, I need to use the blue font a WHOLE heck of a lot more than I do now, because things are not getting across to other members. JJ, I apologize if you actually thought that I believed that I had some sixth sense. I was just working my inner Carnac and I thought most posters would have understood the jest. That said, I stand by my original call. edit: I don't understand any "moderator" stuff that was said, as if I'm greater than the common man/woman of brewerfan.net. I absolutely know that I am not.
  22. well, I guess we'll just see, won't we. Robidoux had the sweetest swing too; was supposed to be the next Cecil Cooper for the team. Gamel has a good swing but he hasn't shown me a good eye in his short MLB stint, as in he didn't adapt to the MLB pitchers. It looked to me like he assumed everything would be just as easy as it was in the minors. When he found that it wasn't, he pressed. He had some success, to be sure. But not enough, in my eyes, to warrant that top prospect billing. Is he a good player? Sure as heck he is. But unless he makes some adjustments (and I'm hoping that he does) I just don't see it. My opinion was asked in the lead post and I gave it. I didn't question anybody's else's thoughts.
  23. what's the deal with McClung keeping his mug in his glove as he walks off the field? Is he cussing his way back to the clubhouse? Is he crying? I can understand doing it on the mound but as he walks off the field?
  24. Mark my words. Mat Gamel will be a third base equivalent of Billy Joe Robidouz/Joey Meyer minus the weight gain. Highly touted and won't do much in the majors. Why, you ask? I'm sure many of you will state statistical marks about how this is impossible. This is just my feeling. I have a 6th sense for this type of thing and am very often correct. Granted, I hope that I am wrong. That said, I think LaPorta will end up a serviceable outfielder/DH for a good 8-10 year career. A Jason Michaels, if you will. I do like Wallace, however, and think that he will end with a type of career similar to a Carney Lansford--very good but not great.
