  1. yeah, I would have added the bunt single to this list, too, but I was on the phone when it happened and I forgot about it until now.
  2. yeah, it looked pretty incidental to me. Nice of BA to mention CC's pitching thru five. He's not afraid to say it, if you believe in that stuff.
  3. hope the strike zone doesn't completely shrink when we're on the mound now after that ejection. Yikes.
  4. you just saw it on Braun's triple. Hustling out of the box from the start. All-out-running around those bases. Nice to see.
  5. Hey, at least it's the LCS that more people will watch. Not sure what TBS' ratings even were last year but I'd venture it was worse than FOX's abysmal ratings.
  6. the brewers are at +250? Really? I better go back to Vegas with my wife next week (she has to pick some stuff up) and place some wagers.
  7. this almost needs to be a separate topic. Anybody else agree? Great conversation, though.
  8. I, too, am enjoying Vin Scully and the Dodger/Rockie broadcast. Didn't realize there were so many day games today. nice.
  9. I know that you didn't write this headline so I'm not picking on you. But in Houston's defense, the Devil Rays last year traded for Dan Wheeler "for no good reason" and now he's a very important part of their bullpen. Yes, I know Wolf will be a FA at the end of the year but maybe he'll be inclined to re-sign and go nuts next season.
  10. I've been playing my Sega Saturn all summer. World Series Baseball, Madden 97, Soviet Strike, NBA Action, some hockey games. Virtua Cop. Awesome stuff. Hooked up my laptop to the system to record audio files and make "Soundtrack" albums for a bunch of my games. I'm a nerd.
  11. I would guess that playing the wrong way would involve a lack of hustle and a lack of respect for opponents, umpires, fans, media, and teammates. Basically making baseball all about you and not caring at all about anything else. Being extremely happy and showing it off even though you're on a 50-112 team would do the trick, I'm sure.
  12. boy, sure would be nice to get a fat 10-2 victory tonight.
  13. heh, I took a cat nap in the Laz-e-boy after the 6th inning to bring the team some luck. I joked with my wife that I was going to close my eyes to bring the team some luck. Next thing I know, I awoke to hear BA saying, "We head to the ninth with the big guy leading off." I missed the tying runs, had to go back on the tivo to see what happened. Apparently, my wife was yelling and cheering for Weeks' double to drop in there and she was very surprised that I didn't move a muscle. Glad I woke up when I did though. WOW!
  14. I forgot the speeding thing. I hate cars that will just tailgate my rear bumper on a single lane highway for an eternity and then, when they finally do pass, they do it about 1 mph faster than you are. Since they, apparently, like to parade in front of me (that's how fast they seem to be passing--the speed of a parade), I usually roll down my window and salute them (full military salute) because they must be really special people if they have to pass me only a parade-speed faster than I am doing. I usually salute impatient drivers who are going a good 20 mph over the speed limit on the freeways, too, but I doubt they even see it. Ten miles later, it sure is funny when you see those bozos on the side of the road with "rollers" having pulled them over. I always want to honk my horn and laugh but the cop might not like that.
  15. yeah, my wife got her master's degree about 8 years ago and (a) it hampered her job search when we wanted to leave; and (b) it really didn't improve her salary much in our district. She makes about $1500 more per year than I do (pre-tax) and I have a Bachelor's. But as a result, her master's degree was a waste of money. Not saying this is the case in all districts but is in ours. Arizona, at one time, required a master's degree before you could get recertified but they got rid of it because school districts all over the state complained that they couldn't keep their teachers.
  16. billscott's is similar to mine. I hate making left turns in a multi-laned left-turn area (two left-turn lanes side-by-side). It always seems that the vehicle next to me can not seem to stay in his turn lane, even though there are little white dashed lines out in the intersection to help keep you in your turn lane. Just bugs me. Turn signals x11. It is the most basic thing next to . . . . Seat belts. I still can't believe how many people are dumb enough not to wear a seatbelt while they drive. I don't care if I'm just driving to get the mail a block and a half away; I wear the seatbelt. Four-way stops and knowing the right-of-way. It's called RIGHT of way for a reason. Arizona drivers seconded. In case you guys don't know, AZ doesn't require you to renew your license every few years. For example, my license does not expire until 2034. So you've got thousands of people driving in the state who probably would flunk the test in any other state. Speaking of which, I've yet to see a driver's ed vehicle on the road here. i don't think they have it. They very well may just have to take "classroom" and then can go take the "road" test (it's at the DMV here, so you don't actually drive with real traffic). Ridiculous! No wonder my car insurance is so high in this state!
  17. I'm still waiting to see a slab of ribs in the grocery store that is comparable in size to the ones that Fred Flintstone gets a the drive-in on the old cartoon show. Mmmm, those look good.
  18. Come one dude we know you are still watching plus if you leave who is going to keep me from swearing in the IGT? Well, sure, I watched the rest of the game. But I logged off brewerfan.net for the rest of the night. I just needed to step away from it and concentrate my energies toward the television and the Brewers. Okay, I also didn't want to smash up my laptop in anger. That was a key to the decision.
  19. blown save vs. bottom of the order. nice. the more things change, the more they stay the same. edit: I'm done. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
  20. It's the Atlanta heat game all over again. Torres didn't have it in Atlanta where it was warm and muggy and he doesn't appear to have it tonight. Nice K there, while I'm typing, though. Maybe I should keep typing.
  21. jeepers, four racks of ribs? What army are you feeding? Reminds me of Thanksgiving when my mom makes WAY too much mashed potatoes. Looked good though.
  22. we just really need to rip off a 12 or 13 game win streak. Or win 5 out of every 6 games for about a month. Then I won't have to be nervous at all (mostly) about the season. This Brewers/Cards series and next week's series with the Cubs will really shed some light on this Brewers club, as well as the other two teams and where they stand.
  23. Trenni's smile makes me think that she's trying to smile while stepping on glass. Painful-looking smile if I've ever seen one. I do appreciate you posting to this thread, though. It helps to remind me that I STILL haven't ordered any shirts this year.
  24. neither Giants nor Brewers broadcasts are on.
  25. Oops, you know what, I was using that to compare to Weeks, since I tend to view Theriot more as a second baseman than a shortstop, but I guess he's only played SS this season so there you go. However, take away JJ's hot streak and Theriot is better. But I can see your side of the argument. I still like Theriot as a player--not as a Cub, however.
