  1. a couple more extra inning games will also help the effort (not that I want extra inning games, of course)
  2. DO NOT GET AN ALIENWARE! That's all that I'll say on that front.
  3. well said, JimH5, well said! I'm glad I don't pay attention to any of that garbage in the entertainment world.
  4. which means Kip Wells is due for a win and Zambrano is due for a meltdown
  5. yeah, but the last few times we've had the "forfeit" lineup out there, the Crew has scored something like 8-9 runs (maybe more). It's like when our pitchers relax when they see a weak opponent lineup and end up giving up a ton of runs (alright, I know our pitchers don't really "relax" on the mound)
  6. Is this going to turn into another "Can Bill Hall Pitch?"-type threads?
  7. eh, now this confirms that NBA basketball is just entertainment--like wrestling. I mean, it MUST be if it's fixed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. and this, folks, is why Estrada ended up being hated by his teammates in Arizona.
  9. well, with Pence out for 4-6 weeks, Braun will definitely have the chance to catch up to him in ABs and thrust himself into the ROY lead in the media, especially if he keeps doing what he's been doing and the Brewers stay in first/in the race. There's no way the media could ignore him any more as they won't have any other NL rookie to really look at anymore (not that they were ignoring him at all, but you get what I mean)
  10. I haven't read the thread yet and I don't know if they showed it on FSN-WI but, in Estrada's defense (I guess), he kinda had to duck the throw from first to home. Okay, he didn't "have" to. He coulda just took one in the melon/gut/leg/wherever to stay out of the DP. But, I'll agree that once the ball was past him on it's way to the plate he coulda kicked it up a notch. Miller is due for a start anyhow, right?
  11. stein, I've never heard of that. Not saying it's not out there somewhere, though.
  12. I don't view Costas as arrogant or know-it-all. It's confidence. He displays outward confidence in himself and what he's talking about. People do that. I can't tell you how many times that other teachers and administrators think that I am cocky and arrogant and have had to call them out to tell them that it only appears that way because I am confident in the way I teach and am not afraid of anybody or anything when it comes to teaching.
  13. haven't seen it online at all, but the current ESPN the magazine has a one pager about the "8 Things You Don't Know About the Brewers" by Ben Sheets.
  14. I saw all three of those shows (or are there 4?) back in the day when they premiered on HBO some 10-15 years ago (maybe longer?) You are correct. They are awesome! I loved the color film of some of these guys that I had never seen before in color. I believe alot of the footage was home movies, but I don't remember.
  15. I don't know if they exist anymore, but you could also look into one of those Disney Cruises. It's like Walt Disney World on a boat (from what my folks and brother have talked about). Plus they got to swim with dolphins and some other stuff. Could be another option for one of the sides of the family. Plus, it's unique.
  16. I say be happy that your girlfriend knows what she believes in when it comes to baseball. Sounds like she knows what she's talking about (even if she's wrong). If you can carry on baseball conversations regularly without arguing, she's a keeper. Otherwise, it'd be like marrying a Cubs/Bears fan. As for her argument, yes, the Twins are in a very tough division. Detroit and Cleveland are going to be in the fight all season. The Twins will only be viable if they can win games while DET and CLE beat each other up. As for the Twins being a playoff team in the NL Central? I don't know about that. The division is weak but . . . which NL Central team would get the boot to keep it a 6-team division? Or does she consider playing all 6 teams and still being the best?
  17. sundown kid, thanks for the tip. I only knew he was in the booth in the middle innings. Back to the archive for me later on!
  18. Yeah, we listened on TV and then had to go back to the radio archive later on to hear everything with Costas. He's such a good announcer and a perfect voice for it, alot like Uecker and Scully. Too bad he doesn't have a job and instead is doing the HBO show. I was disappointed that his time in the box with Uecker wasn't as funny as I thought it might be, but it was still enjoyable. He was going to tell a story from the 95 series about Uecker but the inning ran out. I have to dig out my 95 series tapes!
  19. sorry, but that Pete Ladd photo is hilarious. Looks like his pants are pulled up over his belly button, not to mention the look on his face!
  20. well, it's beginning to be safe to say that benching Weeks was the best thing Yost could have done. Rickie's focus seems to be there a bit more, he's more aggressive (2 collisions to break up plays in the last 3 days) and less afraid to make mistakes, and he's taking some (not all) of those pitches that he was routinely swinging-and-missing at a few weeks ago. Good to see, in my opinion, and I hope it continues.
  21. statistically, sure, I understand that Dunn is "better" than Jenkins. To me, though, Dunn is a one-trick pony--he hits homers. okay, two tricks--he also walks. All right, three tricks--he strikes out . . . .alot. Just my opinion on this of course.
  22. yep, I agree that Week's "deserves" a trip back to the top of the lineup. He's been more selective at the plate and actually, *gulp*, hit one hard the other day. Not to mention that Corey Hart appears to be pressing since his hit streak ended.
  23. wha? I don't get it.
  24. I still don't get the "trade Jenkins" crowd right now. The guy has suffered for so many years on this club with all the losing and the injuries and now we're successful and you want to just trade the guy for something "better" in Dunn. Trade Jenkins in the off-season? Yes definitely Melvin should try. Trade Jenkins at this year's deadline? No way. Give the guy the pennant race that he deserves.
  25. hmmm, let's see. A bunch of young athletes + South Beach and other related clubs/bars/restaurants within easy striking distance + a lot of down time = Dontrelle arrested last year, Olsen arrested, etc. etc. Gee, I wonder what the problem is. No wonder there is still no pro team in Vegas yet. Every player on a team would be arrested within a month or two.
