  1. don't mean to bump this, but I've noticed that the last few home day games, the roof has been open all the way (at least it looks that way on TV). Today, for instance, the shadows are just now creeping over the pitcher's mound in the 5th inning whereas before they made sure that it was in shadow at time of first pitch. Anybody know any details on this? Did MLB dictate they must keep the roof fully open after the Giants complained?
  2. If Ozzie Smith got in with similar (or even worse) numbers, Vizquel should be there, too. He's had an outstanding career.
  3. just watch, he'll get claimed by somebody and go on and hit .280 for them with a 5-10 dingers. Probably St. Louis. Drat.
  4. and back-to-back 1-hitters. Real nice.
  5. semi-interesting to note that his brother, Jemile, is struggling almost as badly with Oakland this year. Maybe there's a "family" issue that we're all unaware of. Okay, I'm really reaching . . . .
  6. A couple of films I watched recently. First off, I finally watched the Blu-rays of the Star Wars legacy. It was nice to see it all in crystal clearness and with great DTS sound. But some of the changes were laughable. Ben Kenobi's howl when he scares away the sandpeople in episode IV? Ludicrous. Vader saying, "No!!!!" before he picks up the Emperor and throws him down the chute in episode VI? Insulting. It was almost like Lucas thought too many people didn't understand why Vader did what he did so he had to add the voice over. Next, I finally got to Inception this weekend. I really enjoyed it. I heard many people tell me that I would need to watch it at least two or even three times to understand what is even happening. I thought they were completely wrong. I completely understood the premise of the film, and the whole dream-in-a-dream-in-a-dream-in-a-dream scenario was hardly confusing at all. The only reason I would watch it again is because it was quite entertaining and very interesting, not because I was all "huh?" Finally, I saw Cedar Rapids this evening. Funny on some levels but not uproariously funny, I enjoyed it. Ed Helms' schtick, however, is getting old (the lonely, needy guy.) I hope they stop that (although he plays it well.) It's hard to describe what I liked about it. It had the midwestern "charm" to it that I miss out here in Arizona, I guess.
  7. that. is. AWESOME!
  8. The Pacific started real slow and had storylines that were "different" from Band of Brothers. It wasn't near constant battles with small 3-4 minutes parts of story interspersed. Instead, it was 40 minutes of story with a couple of 3-4 minute battles. That's why The Pacific wasn't as good, to me. In the end, I'm glad that I watched the whole thing, as it did get better toward the end. Still, it was a 5.5 on a 10-point scale compared to Band of Brothers' 9.5 score.
  9. it's 3:46, no . . . correction, 3:47 AM and I can't sleep.
  10. thankfully, the game ended around 11:00 local time so it wasn't all that bad for me. It certainly was a fun one. I think it was one of the first IGTs that I really participated in.
  11. it's that climb of Kilamanjaro he did over the off-season. If he can do that, he can do anything. Throwing a baseball is peanuts compared to that. (okay, so that should be in blue or something.) Good for him, I say. His book that he wrote was excellent and really gives the reader a look into his life and what he's put up with. Bravo to R.A.!
  12. I think he did a really good job in his role, actually. I never said he didn't. The original poster expressed some concern so I eased his concern. I never said that he played his role poorly.
  13. I watch this every year around this time of year (June 6, naturally). Love it every time. In fact, gets better each time. I still have the original set, not the blu-ray. Not sure how much of an upgrade it really would be, as it looks fantastic now! Don't worry about Schwimmer, either. He's a bit player in only a couple other episodes.
  14. Very cool to read about, indeed. By the way, every time I see the thread title in the list of topics, "Hey, A Movie!" from "The Great Muppet Caper instantly pops into my head.
  15. yes, I saw this trailer for Watch Dogs earlier today. I must say it looks really good! Of course, it's also "Person of Interest--The Video Game" (for those of you familiar with the TV show.)
  16. I really don't think it matters, when it comes to Braun. If he's smart, and I think he is, he will accept the vote-in as a starter but probably sit out the game and HR Derby, just as he did a couple of years ago. Or did they changed the rules that vote-in players must play? I thought I read about that once, or maybe it was just a rumor.
  17. wow, Pujols hardly has any votes compared to Prince! (small standing O for that!)
  18. of course, Jeter had the luxury of using the modern ballplayer's fielding glove, while Wagner used the old old old 5 finger version that was barely bigger than your hand. So I'd probably say they're even, regardless of what the statistics say.
  19. yep, 35000 fans and it was a quiet ballpark. It'll happen when Gallardo shuts them down. We were in the LF bleachers and they were giving Braun the business most of the night. But it was harmless, annoying stuff mostly. Nothing vulgar or unnecessary. Just the usual rigamarole. RF bleachers for us tomorrow night. C'mon Zach!
  20. Maybe he'll have a Brandon Inge-esque resurgence against his former team this weekend. . . . when I'm there to see it.
  21. I loved the name Shooty Babbit when I was a kid.
  22. That will always be my favorite, but for some reason I always had to laugh at Quinton McCracken. To me, he is always Quinton McCrackenmyass
  23. Dick Pole
  24. a THIRD tour of duty from this guy??? We must be desperate. Pitch in triple-A and I'm fine with it. Pitch in the majors and we've got a problem.
