  1. It's games like today and yesterday that go to show you how Wang hurts this team. Now pitching for the 3rd straight day KRod. only one of them a Save situation. And mind you this genius situation comes with Gennett, Davis, and Reynolds to bat the 10th.
  2. would you intentionally walk both Lucroy and Gomez to face Lefty/lefty then vs. Gennett?
  3. Yeah I couldn't believe there was only myself commenting on Khris Davis' HR to make it 5-0. Good news is this game wont end w/o Braun getting another AB.
  4. Wait I'm confused. Did we just use two pinch hitters there? Subbing Falu for Schafer when both are lefties facing a LHP? Drugs. RRR has to be on Drugs.
  5. No run on contact? A line out and the runner isn't doubled off 3b? Whoa. Just makes yesterday's game result even more infuriating.
  6. I agree that Garza should have been pulled earlier. That 10 pitch AB by Delmon Young should have been your sign right there. Garza's pitches were no longer fooling hitters. Then he walks(Cough squeezed) Cruz to start the 7th on 5pitches. which then puts Garza's pitch count at 96. If you can make the double switch move getting your RP to bat 9th coming up then why did you wait? That had to be his plan going in to the inning if Garza struggled. So just do it right after that walk.
  7. So once again this ab. Gamecast shows Pitch 2+5 as low strikes called balls. Why is it we suddenly got squeezed this inning? There were 9 strikes called balls that inning.
  8. Gamecast had Garza with 4 straight strikes on Cruz but a 3-1 count to show for it. And now of course a walk.
  9. Brutal pitch count killing 10pitch Walk there. It's amazing that Garza can go in to the 6th inning with 67pitches on his way towards a 7 inning start and now he likely is done after 6 here if the pitcher comes to bat in the bottom of the inning.
  10. No because he's been trending in this direction. How many CFs are 6'3" 230lbs? Mike Trout is 6'2 McCutchen is just 5'10". Gomez has the physical body to be a power hitter.
  11. He's definitely going to get votes. The problem is until Troy Tulowitzki has hit 30game+ injury this season, he's running away with MVP at his pace. 4.7WAR in 49games. I don't want to go by on pace numbers. But it's legit to say Tulo can get 40HRs as a SS and bat over .340. while totaling over 10WAR.
  12. Great to see runs on the board already. Chen being lefty was the kind of pitcher I figured would throw out a 7IP 1ER line. The Brewers like to make 4+ ERA Lefties as Cy Youngs. Now Garza. Come on man let's get the W!
  13. Scooter hasn't started a game vs. a Lefty yet this season. You tell me what you expect a Lefty batter as young as Gennett is supposed to hit when the LOOGY RPs are who he's getting his PAs against? These guys are paid to get Lefties out almost exclusively. 20PAs in 18games 15 different LH pitchers he's seen. Weeks has 12hits in 28 ground ball at bats. a .429 BA. 12 of his 21 hits are ground ball hits. His Career avg actually is a surprising .297 on ground balls. But that means Rickie is almost 4hits above his avg. 4 extra seeing eye singles than normal. Take that away and his line is .243/.302/.371 on the season overall. Maybe these aren't seeing eye singles maybe the ball is hit harder through a hole, or maybe Rickie is just hustling down the line harder beating a few extra throws over the course of the season vs. previously since he's in a contract year and his PAs are reduced. So every single extra hit he gets just because of hustle. Scooter on the year has a .259BA on groundballs. You go to Rickie's career avg that's 2more hits for Gennett. Go to Week's BA on Groundballs and its 9 more hits for Scooter. So I think there's a bit of luck going on/ good for Rickie bad for Scooter. The best indicator to look at imo is Line drive pct. Scooter has a 25% line drive rate to Rickie's 20%. So eventually the numbers put up by these two will correct themselves. Scooter's avg up/Weeks avg down.
  14. Reynolds on the season had put 36 balls on the ground. 38 times hit a Fly Ball. And 19times hit Line Drives. Why do you bother putting the Run at Contact play on for a player who's not a Groundball hitter? Players like Jean Segura who has 93 GBs/20FlyBs/33Line Drives then it makes sense. I don't want to spend the time going through every single player in the lineup, but Reynolds' Ground ball to all out % just may make him the WORST batter to have the run at contact play on for the entire team! It's not all on Roenicke as there has to be at least one other bench coach in that dugout who has stats and situational details about each batter to go to Roenicke and suggest Reynolds isn't the type of batter to use the run on contact. Now if these other coaches in the dugout don't help Roenicke this way throughout a game because Roenicke simply makes the decision on his own, then Roenicke needs to go yesterday. And that may just explain why he's constantly making these gaffes. He's the only one making the decisions and not getting or using the added insight from his bench coaches.
  15. Woooo. Davis huge game today 4-4 and a Walk. OPS now up to .734 He's up to 6walks on the season and half of them are in the last 7games. He's on a stretch of 4 straight games with an XBH 2HRs, 4 doubles while picking up 2 walks. As to trading him and Nelson H&T. I'm worried in Davis' development this season(though this stretch is making it look much brighter) the worry just in terms of him batting .230-.250 with an OB under .300. Going back prior to May 19th's game his line was at: .215/.244/.376/.620 with just 32hits/ 10 doubles/1triple/ and 4HRs. I appreciate a batter more who can put the ball in play for doubles/triples if he's supposed to be a Power hitter. But Davis at that point wasn't exactly accumulating any strong amount of XBHs. I believe he will turn out as a fine OPS hitter, it just comes with not much more added beyond the hitting aspect. For what's a super aggressive base-running team Davis hasn't even attempted to steal a base, he really looks slow running. The walks weren't there that I see coming down the road. The idea is Davis was a piece that will hold this team back this year and going after Zobrist meanwhile is a piece that doesn't hold the team back. Then flipping Nelson for Pederson gives the team more offensive insurance while getting a player who offers more defensively as well as on the basepaths. (Whoa he has 15HRs/13SBs! already! in 48games at age 22) So I mean come on, Joc is the real deal a .300 hitter with .375OB potential. This team is pitching really well and offensively it just lacks depth. The bottom of the order is all hit/miss. Zobrist/Pederson would make for tough outs that provide a little bit of everything. Nelson can be something good, but if Pederson is a 30/30 guy? That's AllStar yearly with those numbers. How many here think Nelson will make even 1 AllStar game? We wind up getting the Best player in the deals for 6+years(since he's going to be team controlled Now through 2020 season. I feel like because Nelson is coming up through our system and appears to be a nice 5-6year team controlled it's leading to the idea we can't trade him away. Blinding one from trading him away for a better player who could be a 7-10 year guy. Did I mention Pederson is a Lefty? I feel it's a No Brainer to take a Pederson for Nelson trade if possible. Nelson is just a #3 with #2 ability if he's locating, remember that. Pederson is a 5 tool player. For an OF this is what you want to add to your team. And my stance still remains that our pitching depth w/o Nelson is capable to compete beyond the next two seasons because Jungmann will be ready, Pena or Hellweg will fill a back end spot with Thornburg/Smith filling in another. And who knows what we get with our draft this year? Aaron Nola could fall in to our selection and he's predicted to be the fastest to make a ML team. Now, this entire trade scenario playing out is based on the Brewers trading Davis for Zobrist(creating a hole in the OF minus Zobrist making occasional starts) And that hole is filled long term by acquiring Pederson. You don't trade Nelson away for Pederson if you keep Davis.
  16. This is crap. If you have run on contact on then why do you remove Lucroy? You can't tell me Lucroy running on contact vs Herrera running on contact there's going to be any amount of difference for the throw to the plate. Krod blew it but this was all on the lack of clutch hitting by the Brewer hitters vs Baltimore's hitters getting it done. 8th inning: 1out double, infield single so runners on 1st/3rd 1out, walk bases loaded 1out...Strikeout/Groundout inning over. 9th inning:1out single, sacrifice+error allows runners on 2nd/3rd just 1out! Double play lineout! 10th inning: 1out single, walk runners on 1st/2nd 1out. Ground in to Double play! It's comical that with runners on either 2nd or 3rd with 1out the team goes 0 for 4 making 6outs. Couldn't even lift a ball in to the outfield in B2b 3rd base and 1out situations for a simple sac fly? Someone said this is the worst loss on the season, but I still can't get over that Atlanta loss and that 7th inning blow up. The good news is ARam returns in under a week. As well as being a day closer to the day we call up Morris and/or make a trade for our bench.
  17. Is I think he's supposed to score throwing Braun under the bus? I think he could have scored too, Braun wasn't exactly flying around 3b. Watching the replay and Gomez's comments he slid purposely towards the McGehee in an attempt to block the throw like he said normally happens. If he had slid towards the other side of the bag though I wonder if he would have been safe making McGehee have to tag him vs just catching the ball on top of him? This isn't going to ruin the team's playoff potential and create problems in the clubhouse. That's foolish. Gomez will probably watch the tape, realize he was wrong and apologize to Braun behind the scenes and all will be well. They'll both shrug their shoulders and say they can't believe that throw was 110% perfectly placed. that 99 times out of 100 Gomez gets to the bag ahead of the throw that normally isn't even remotely close to the bag. So don't worry about it.
  18. Okay going off MLB's top 10 LHP/RHP. LH:Heaney no, Owens yes, Fried yes, Biddle yes, Urias no, Rodriguez yes, Nicolino yes, Escobar yes, Ball yes, Ray yes. RH: Bradley no, Walker no, Syndergaard no, Gray...I'd mull about it, Appel yes, Stephenson yes, Bundy yes, Taillon yes, Sanchez no, Zimmer yes. You're complaining about 17mil a season for a 5WAR player? What's 1WAR worth? 5mil? or 25mil in production for 17mil salary? Beltre is the kind of hitter that can flat out win series for you. In a 7game series he could go 10-30 with 5HRs 12RBI. When he's locked in, there's almost nobody better than him. (there may not be) For Milwaukee's current roster makeup the return on winning a World Series can supercede the cost of giving up your future SP. Again he's just that valuable of a hitter. I'm not going to get caught up with his age when he's a .300 hitter 30HR power with a .350s/60s OB. If Beltre wasn't the kind of hitter that can carry you through a series then obviously the trade is a bad idea. This would be replacing Reynolds/Overbay at 1b with ARam taking 1b duties...supposedly. Reynolds' bat will disappear come playoff time when he's facing #1,2,3s of Playoff contending teams. The HR that keeps him remotely valuable will turn in to 4-30 7game series with 21Ks 1HR 1RBI. And then you'll wonder why you didn't get Beltre when there was the opportunity to get him leaving the black hole bat of Reynolds in your playoff lineup to just get dominated at a time you needed him most. If you're playing to win a World Series you gotta do what's best to make that happen. If you're not concerned with playing for a World Series on a given season but just to cycle a continual competitive team than you never trade away your best prospects. Yeah Tampa has 6 straight winning seasons 5 of them 90+Win seasons. But just 1 World Series appearance in 2008. That year? Not one trade for the stretch run. Not 1 batter with a .300+BA. 2010, 96 wins. They acquired Chad Qualls a RP. Longoria/Crawford were approx .300 hitters, nobody else was above .265 on the season. 2011, No trades again. Last year they acquired David Dejesus for the late stretch run as an upgrade in the OF(and atop the order vs Jennings) over Sam Fuld/Kelly Johnson/Matt Joyce. It's great what Tampa has been able to do as an organization with their payroll. But they haven't won the World Series. The year they win the World Series will be the year they find that impact player the team was missing. Sacrificing say 4-6wins a year for the next 5years to get the 4 wins that matter the most.
  19. Some really good defensive plays on Miami's part. Yelich's throw was perfect with a lot on it. Tough situation to be mad at Gomez because Yelich is less than 1season in to his career. Probably don't know how good/accurate his arm is to not want to test it at this point. But with Braun coming around to score with 2outs, I don't think Gomez should be thinking advancing. Any base hit with 2outs Gomez should score, if it's not a hit the inning is over. So why risk it? Does Turner have Wild pitch tendencies? That throw out probably earned a lot of respect on Yelich's arm and I bet there's a lot more pause on running on it the rest of the season League wide due to it. I gotta say, Segura/Davis seem to be improving on their approach batting. There's definitely more shoot to the opposite field/shortened swings lately vs. earlier in the year and pulling so much. Davis with another Walk too, I feel like maybe the game is slowing down for him, he's not trying to do so much with every at bat. That's a good sign for this team once ARam comes back. The team really does need to find a better 1b. It is frustrating watching Reynolds and Overbay just doesn't offer much. A single here, a rare double there but a lot of nothing otherwise. If Morris isn't up before the end of June I'm really going to be upset. Excited about Nelson tomorrow! And to see Wolf? Could be a HR serving game.
  20. I'm watching Luke Weaver pitch and no way do I want that guy selected on my team. It's not going to work out well for him maybe a #4/5 starter at best. I honestly don't get how you fail to see the future of College Pitchers when watching them pitch throughout college and when they are 21. What they have is what they have there's just not going to be a whole lot of improvement. Weaver is going to get crushed.
