  1. Taylor Floyd has an 8.06 ERA | 6.30 FIP with 5.61 BB9 and 1.75 HR9 in 25 IP for the Twins AA affiliate. That’s who we traded for Megill.
  2. Nick Merkel (1 H | 2 K) and Tanner Shears (1 BB | 1 K) throw scoreless frames to close out the 9-4 TRats win.
  3. Eduarqui goes deep after JGJ and Metzinger singled to give the TRats an 8-4 lead bottom of six.
  4. Nashville gonna need at least three runs top of nine to keep this ballgame going. Jones, Devanney, Winker (on base seven times combined today) due up with Black and Hiura hoping to get a chance to cash them in.
  5. And a Robert Moore walk/steal followed by a Brock Wilken single gets Wisco the lead.
  6. Looks like EBJ came around to score on some combo of stolen base, wild pitch, catcher throwing error to tie it up.
  7. Dylan O’Rae doubled and walked, Jadher Areinamo singled twice, Jace Avina doubled, three guys got plunked and that was about all she wrote for the Carolina offense today.
  8. Sounds picked up another pair of runs top of five via Jones single, Devanney single, Winker walk, Hiura single. But alas, gave them back bottom six. Tied 4-4 top of seven.
  9. Nashville picked up a pair of runs top of three with four consecutive walks of Jones, Devanney, Winker and Black followed by a run scoring GIDP by Hiura. Gave em right back in the bottom half though, currently 2-2 middle of four.
  10. Don’t forget the Yankees, shelled out $520M for Judge and Rodon just to have their worst season in 30 years. Of the 19 teams with a higher OD payroll than the Brewers on Cot’s, only 5 have a better record. The Phillies (+$124M) and Blue Jays (+$91M) have needed to spend considerably more than the Brewers just to keep pace. The Mets (+$212M), Yankees (+$159M), Padres (+$130M), Angels (+$93M), White Sox (+$62M), Cardinals (+$58M) and even the Rockies (+53M) outspent the Brewers by fifty to two hundred plus million on opening day and won’t even be cracking .500.
  11. Brewers offense by month… April (18-10) 94 wRC+ | 4,57 R/G May (11-16) 79 wRC+ | 3.41 R/G June (14-13) 80 wRC+ | 4.11 R/G July (14-11) 99 wRC+ | 4.52 R/G August (15-7) 95 wRC+ | 5.45 R/G
  12. Josh Timmerman (3 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 1 K) and Osbriel Mogollon (4 IP | 2 H | 1 BB | 5 K) each had scoreless outings for the ACL crew. Justin Yeager gave up an unearned in the 8th on a Pratt throwing error followed by a ground rule double. Bayden Root on to try and close out the 2-1 Brewers lead.
  13. Yeah, thought it hit the knob from the sound/bounce.
  14. Believe it is speed out of the hand.
  15. Carolina will need the crookedest of numbers bottom of nine to come back from this one, trailing 12-4. Patricio Aquino worked around 9 H to only allow 1 R over 5 IP with 0 BB and 4 K before the bullpen blew things up. Dylan O’Rae (1-3, HBP, SB), Jadher Areinamo (1-3, BB), Tayden Hall (1-4, 2B), Jesus Chirinos (1-3, HR, HBP) and Jace Avina (2-4, 2B) did what they could.
  16. TRats trailing 8-2 in the 8th. Luis Lara (2-4, SB, CS), Brock Wilken (1-3, 2B) and Jheremy Vargas (2-2, BB) having the best days with the bats. Teheran went 3 IP | 1 R | 3 H | 0 BB | 4 K in his rehab start.
  17. Biloxi falls 6-4 with Isaac Collins (0-3, BBx2), Jeferson Quero (1-5, 2B), Wes Clarke (2-4, BB), Freddy Zamora (2-3, BB) and Ernesto Martinez (3-4, 2B) having the big days on offense. Best pitching line in the box was James Meeker giving up 1 R over 4.1 relief IP with 4 H | 1 BB | 1 K.
  18. Nashville wins 7-3 with Jahmai Jones (2-4, 2B, BB), Owen Miller (2-4, 2B), Tyler Black (2-5) and Payton Henry (1-3, BB) all reaching multiple times. Gasser gave up 3 R over 6 IP before Jason Alexander, Ethan Small and JB Bukauskas threw a scoreless frame each to close it out.
  19. ACL crew takes a 2-0 lead bottom of three via Yeison Perez walk, Cooper Pratt single and Juan Baez double.
  20. The guy I’ll probably always sync up Strasburg with in my mind is Chris Sale. Both were considered “injury prone” even during their mostly healthy and overlapping primes, then both fell apart after delivering WS titles and signing big extensions. 2012-19 Strasburg 1,346 IP (17th) | 79 ERA- (9th) | 76 FIP- (6th) | 30.9 rWAR (10th) | 33.2 fWAR (6th). 2012-18 Sale 1,388 IP (6th) | 70 ERA- (2nd) | 68 FIP- (2nd) | 39.3 rWAR (3rd) | 39.2 fWAR (3rd). Here’s a few other recent-ish guys with long runs of ace quality but not quite the quantity typically needed for the HOF… 2014-23 deGrom 1,356 IP (18th) | 65 ERA- (2nd) | 64 FIP- (1st) | 42.7 rWAR (3rd) | 42.6 fWAR (3rd). 2002-08 Johan 1,413 IP (13th) | 64 ERA- (1st) | 74 FIP- (3rd) | 45.5 rWAR (1st) | 36.9 fWAR (2nd). 2008-13 Cliff Lee 1,333 IP (5th) | 71 ERA- (2nd) | 70 FIP- (1st) | 38.5 rWAR (1st) | 38.1 fWAR (1st) 2009-14 Felix 1,394 IP (1st) | 70 ERA- (2nd) | 72 FIP- (3rd) | 38.5 rWAR (2nd) | 37.2 fWAR (2nd).
  21. Wisco picks up two runs bottom of two via Mike Boeve single, Joe Gray Jr. single, Darrien Miller HBP, Ben Metzinger single. Cornielle has thrown three scoreless with 1 H | 1 BB | 4 K so far.
  22. Dylan O’Rae doubled and Tayden Hall singled him home (then stole second) bottom of the first. Yorman Galindez has gone five scoreless with 2 H | 1 BB | 4 K as O’Rae leads off for Carolina bottom of five.
  23. "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty was playing on the radio at work and I said to my coworker, "Man, Tom really is Petty if he won't back down. I heard Tom Reasonable will consider changing his mind when presented with compelling evidence to the contrary." I also received a blank stare.
  24. This says they have the 8th largest market in MLB, though the Orioles have had territorial rights forever so I believe there is/has been ongoing dispute over TV money from MASN. MLBTR has the Lerners among the half dozen richest owners in terms of personal wealth.
