  1. Narvaez was 4th in framing runs (+8.8) last year & posted +3 DRS, what metrics are you seeing that have him below average? Since Stearns & company took over Brewers catchers are 2nd in MLB in WAR, better than Posey & the Giants, better than JTR & the Phil’s, way better than Sal Perez & the Royals, etc… https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=6&season=2022&month=35&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2016-01-01&enddate=2022-12-31

  3. As someone who admittedly doesn’t know anything about this draft class, should we pick two guys in the late first now that we have the Raiders pick too, or is there an ever elusive “needle mover” we could package the picks together to move up & grab?
  4. Step One: Draft WR Round One Step Two: Win SB Step Three: Internet Explodes Sounds alright to me.
  5. Yeah, believe you need Paramount+ to watch the full runs of 1883 & Kingstown. Haven't been watching Kingstown, but episode 7 just dropped for 1883 I believe. Maybe wait a couple weeks until all the episodes have dropped & sign up for a free month trial then cancel? I got P+ for The Challenge: All Stars (which has ruled, so totally worth it). They also have some of the older MTV comedy shows like The State & Wonder Showzen that have been fun to revisit. Wonder Showzen especially just gets funnier & funnier as the world devolves more & more.

    Pizza

I can almost guarantee that is because pepperoni just looks nicer than sausage on TV. You get the red to pop on the white cheese. Looks better than brown/gray sausage. Yup. The pepperoni also serves as a subtle subconscious reminder that pizza, much like time itself, is a flat circle. Unless you are in Detroit or Rocky Rococo's, then it's a rectangle.
  7. Might need to climb up on the roof & check the antenna?
  8. Anyone else been watching Yellowjackets on ShowTime? I really enjoyed the first two episodes. Its kind of like Alive, but with a high school girls soccer team instead. Some definite Lord of the Flies & True Detective season one influences going on too. Also does a nice job jumping back & forth between 1996 (when the plane crashed) & 2021 (catching up with the survivors) timelines.
  9. Ugh. Another year picking in the late 20s. If this team doesn't get its act together & start losing some games pronto we might not have another top five pick for some time.
  10. A few from the as of late... The Man Who Fell to Earth. David Bowie plays an enigmatic billionnaire building a personal spacecraft to return to his home planet. A little too on the nose being on Amazon Prime, like come on Bezos, just come out & say it. Mirror. Stalker is one of my all time favourites, so had to check out this other Tarkovsky that recently got the Criterion treatment & it did not dissapoint. Beautifuuly shot poetic ruminations on time, love, family, everything really. Minding The Gap. Documentary that is ostensibly about three skateboarders in Rockford, but uses that as a jumping off point to examine race, cycles of abuse & what people are willing to risk or relinquish in their lives to chase those ever elusive moments that actually let you know, you are in fact, alive.
  11. Except Pomeranz sucked as a starter and then improved when he went to the pen. Norris sucked in the bullpen and we are...keeping him in the bullpen. Except Norris hasn't really sucked in the bullpen. His ERA- of 104 out of the pen is slightly below average, but his FIP- of 75 & xFIP- of 76 (which hold much more predictive power over a sample of only 62 IP than ERA does) place him within the top 20-35 relievers in MLB over the last two years.
  12. Among 132 relievers with at least 50 IP since 2020 Norris ranks 34th in FIP- (75) and 18th in xFIP- (76). The front office seems to believe those underlying indicators are more indicative of Daniel's true talent level than his ERA- of 104.
  13. If anyone here is a Data Engineer, it looks like the Brewers are looking for a new one... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-milwaukee-brewers-data-engineer/
  14. Loved both Six Feet Under & the Leftovers, two of my all time favorite series for sure. John from Cincinnati is an interesting deep cut that is only one season, but it's David Milch so if you liked his other stuff maybe give it a shot. Also really enjoyed Painting with John that just finished up. Six episides at 20 minutes each, so its pretty much like hanging out with John Lurie for a couple hours on a tropical island & listening to him tell stories while he paints or has other little adventures.
  15. I recall Harrison having a lot of injury/production issues. I was not upset to see him and Brinson go. I was far more worried about Yamamoto and Diaz. The latter I saw as a possible option at shortstop as opposed to second base, especially with Hiura on the way. Too bad we missed out on that Braun at 3rd, Isan at SS, Hiura at 2B defensive alignment, it definitely would have been something to behold.

  17. Scanning the Marlins depth chart it looks like Diaz is probably in line to get most of the PAs at 2B this year. For the OF my guess would be Dickerson, Marte & Duvall are the starters with Brinson, Harrison & Magneuris Sierra battling for the 4th OF spot.
  18. If you didn't watch the MCU films that lead up to WandaVision, I would recommend watching the "Marvel Legends" episodes for Scarlet Witch and Vision, since they basically feed you the portions of the movie which set up the series. It's part of the Disney+ subscription, which I signed up for on Friday to watch the show. Thanks for the heads up, those Marvel Legends character shorts definitely provided some helpful context. The previews having that Truman Show/Philip K. Dick constructed reality vibe was enough to pique my curiosity & I thought the first two episodes definitely delivered.
  19. Never really been a comic book reader, haven't seen anything in the MCU...but I am super intrigued by WandaVision. Will definitely be checking it out. Also, not sure how many here have ever had the pleasure of seeing John Luries's show from the early 1990's Fishing with John, where he took celeb guests like Dennis Hopper, Willem Dafoe, Tom Waits & Jim Jarmusch on ramshackle angling excursions around the world, but it looks like his new show Painting With John premieres on HBO this Friday.
  20. Can't find the article now, but the gist was something along the lines of since home ownership in the USA is around 65%, that means that for around a third of the population their largest investment is their car, or computer, or television, or cell phone...all things which immediately depreciate in value upon purchase.
  21. Was kind of surprising to me too, but found it cited in multiple sources... https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-speech-stocks-analysis/trump-touts-stock-markets-record-run-but-who-benefits-idUSKBN1ZZ19A "Roughly half of Americans own some stocks through a brokerage account or a pension or retirement fund...What’s more, nearly 90% of families who own stock do so through a tax-deferred retirement account, meaning they can’t access the money until they reach retirement age, unless they pay a penalty." https://wallethacks.com/stock-ownership-in-america/ "When you look at the entire population of the United States, less than 53% of families own stock. They can own it through a taxable brokerage account or a retirement account, but only 52.6% own any stock whatsoever." https://www.forbes.com/sites/teresaghilarducci/2020/08/31/most-americans-dont-have-a-real-stake-in-the-stock-market/ "Of those earning below the median household income, the typical household owns essentially zero financial assets, and of those who do, most don’t have significant balances."
  22. Yeah, pretty sure those figures do include 401(k)s & IRA accounts. Around half the population doesn't even have that, which skews things pretty considerably. You're essentially looking at 40% of the population versus the top 10%. I'm not too concerned though, a couple two tree drops should trickle down eventually.
  23. I've got a couple two tree TV trays with my PacBell PC set up in the living room right next to my La-Z-Boy so I can comment on the IGTs & also have TI-85 graphing calculator souped up with Tetris to play during commercials. Sometimes I get up & refill my Jolly Good Sour Pow'r.
  24. People in USA watching Chernobyl when it came out May 2019, "lol Russia, we could never bungle something THAT bad."
  25. I was so excited I immediately went online & bought tickets when his first start was announced. Texted my buddy to let him know & he texted back, "um, we already have that game in our 20 pack."
