  1. Coleman Crow had a rough first inning giving up three runs, but Biloxi is fighting back in the second with Brock Wilken & Zavier Warren singles plus a Darrien Miller walk loading the bases up with no outs for Garrett Spain who responded with an RBI single to get the Shuckers on the board. Bases still loaded with nobody out for Jheremy Varga who lines into an unassisted double play taking out the runner at third. Will be up to Bladimir Restituyo now.
  2. Miles Langhorne gets the ninth inning call and works around a pair of walks and an E6 before punching out the last batter to secure the 27th out (for real this time).
  3. Good thing there was another inning for the Mudcats after all. Jose Anderson walked, Filippo Di Turi doubled, and a Demetrio Nadal groundout tacked on a ninth Carolina run.
  4. Whoops, got a little ahead of myself.
  5. Not quite so efficient in the 9th allowing a pair of walks and a single, but ultimately put up the zero to notch the three inning save.
  6. Easton McGee gave up a solo shot in the first, but NASH answered back with an Adam Hall single, Oliver Dunn single, EMJ double, and Anthony Seigler sac fly to take a 2-1 lead into the second.
  7. Arizona Brewers youngest batters lead the league in walks, Carolina Mudcats youngest batters lead the league in walks, Biloxi youngest batters lead the league in walks. & here I though kids these days had no patience, not to mention the old "Can't Walk Off The Island" old school scout take.
  8. We've Got A Walkfest. Luis Lameda the latest recipient. You Get A Walk ! & You Get A Walk ! & You Get A Walk !
  9. & now Reece "I'll Buy The Beer" Walling walks home a fourth Mudcat run.
  10. & Demetrio shows no respect for his elder by singling home a third Carolina run.
  11. Meanwhile opposing pitchers have been 23, 22 and now 25 for the Nationals.
  12. & Tyler takes his walk to put the Mudcats back on top 2-1.
  13. Filippo walks to load the bases, will be up to Tyler Rodriguez (or Demetrio Nadal barring a double play) to get themselves some RBI.
  14. Made walks & steals second, Anderson walks, Made steals third to get runners on the corners nobody out. Bitonti strikes out and now we've got Babe Di Turi at the plate trying to cash them in as Anderson steals second.
  15. Gets the first two batters to ground out to SS, then gives up back to back singles on his 93rd/94th pitches. Looks like they're rolling with him for at least one more batter and he gets the strikeout to end the inning. Impressive outing.
  16. Sam still working hard at 77 pitches through four innings with 2 H | 1 R | 3 BB | 5 K and a wild pitch. Looks like his season high is 82 pitches so that will probably be it for him.
  17. Literal boy among menz (Jackson Ross especially).
  18. That 6th HR ties Filippo for 5th in the Carolina League so far... Freili Encarnacion (8 HR) 20yo | 6'2" | 181 lbs Ramon Ramirez (8 HR) 20yo | 6'0" | 180 lbs Caden Powell (7 HR) 21yo | 6'3" | 200 lbs Cesar Hernandez (7 HR) 22yo | 6'0" | 195 lbs Jackson Ross (6 HR) 25yo | 6'2" | 210 lbs Filippo Di Turi (6 HR) 19yo | 5'11" | 165 lbs
  19. Filippo Di Turi (1 HR in 613 PA entering the season) went deep for the sixth time this year (177 PA so far) to lead off the second inning.
  20. Good to see Lara starting to heat up. His best run prior to this year was at Carolina in 2023... Lara (318 PA at CAR in 23) 285/379/354 (111 wRC+) 12.3 BB% | 14.5 K% .335 BABIP | .069 ISO Lara (200 PA at BIL in 25) 262/365/357 (116 wRC+) 14.5 BB% | 18.0 K% .321 BABIP | .095 ISO Before this recent stretch I had him in more of the Blake Perkins quality 4th OF most likely outcome. Think he's probably still there for me right now, but this heater has inched a few percentage points into the more optimistic Frelick/Turang kind of outcome anyway. Still feel like someone with his wheels should have better than a .312 BABIP for his stateside career, though I guess Turang wasn't much better with a .321 BABIP off the complex. Frelick had a .346 BABIP for his minor league career, though of course he was never a teenager in affiliated ball either.
  21. My gut tells me neither Peralta nor Woodruff will be dealt at the deadline so “not trading Peralta” will be the next big source of consternation. If Peralta is dealt & the return is anything less than a Consensus Top Ten Big Name kind of prospect (even though Freddy’s “never been an Ace”) then it’ll be “selling low on Peralta” instead.
  22. The other Jesus (Flores) walks the tight rope to secure the 4-3 Mudcats win. After Bitonti, Di Turi, and Nadal singles plated two in the top half of the eleventh, Jesus went single, line out, walk, wild pitch, intentional walk before striking out the last two with the bases juiced.
  23. Last year the Brewers played their 54th game on May 28th. On that date DET (26-27), HOU (24-31), NYM (22-32), and ARI (25-29) were all under .500. Three of those teams went on to make the playoffs and Arizona lost the tiebreaker with 89 wins. In 2023 the Brewers played their 54th game on May 30th. On that date PHI (25-29) was under .500 and made the playoffs. The Yankees were 34-23 and went on to miss the playoffs that year. In 2022 the Brewers played their 54th game on June 3rd. On that date CLE (23-24), SEA (23-29), ATL (26-27), and PHI (23-29) were all under .500 and made the playoffs. Most of the teams that are in the playoffs or close to it at this point are going to get most of the spots at the end of year too, but if recent history is any guide (I'm sure there's plenty more examples farther back too) they won't get ALL the spots. Personally, I don't have much faith in the Brewers making an improbable run, but if I did have faith it wouldn't be all that improbable either so the two go kind of go hand in hand. Here's what I do think I know, though. If the Ghost of Uecker is perchance pulling strings from The Great Beyond, he wouldn't draw it up for the Brewers to go wire to wire leading the division all year and cruising to the postseason. Feel like a gifted story teller such as Bob would come up with a much more devious arc than that.
  24. You honestly believe the front office will behave as buyers at the deadline if they keep playing like this for the next two months? Sounds like you've already moved beyond desperation to a crisis of faith.
