  1. Brian Fitzpatrick followed Cornielle with three scoreless frames of 0 H | 1 BB | 3 K work, but Bo Bowman (walk, walk, double/E4, wild pitch, walk) and now Will Childers (walk, sac fly, walk) have run into trouble in the eighth. Bases loaded, one out, lead down to 7-4.
  2. Liranzo (walk, pop out) and Tyler Jay (strike out, two singles, ground out) worked around traffic to put up another zero in the eighth. Adam Hall singled, stole second and scored on a Jimmy Herron single for an insurance run in the ninth. Bryan Hudson on for the save in a 4-1 ballgame.
  3. Wild pitch got the Mudcats within one at 7-6, but Bitonti flew out to end it.
  4. Two outs in the ninth. Tyler Rodriguez HBP, Walther double, Made walk, Payne single, Adamczewski double has it 7-5 Carolina. Pitching change.
  5. Cooper Pratt doubled, went to third on a balk and scored on a Ramon Rodriguez sac fly in the seventh. Now Biloxi has loaded em up in the eighth with a Restituyo HBP, Lara walk and Adams single setting up Pratt for a sac fly of his own to make it 7-1 Shuckers.
  6. Logan Henderson out after six innings of 1 ER | 4 H | 0 BB | 6 K. Jesus Liranzo on for the seventh and goes four up three down with a two out single to old friend Eddy Alvarez the lone blemish.
  7. Jadher Areinamo next in line for the homer barrage, 5-0 Wisco bottom five Letson at five scoreless with 3 H | 1 BB | 9 K.
  8. Ramon Rodriguez bomb gives the Shuckers a 5-1 lead top of six.
  9. Monasterio doubled, stole third, and scored on a two run Oliver Dunn home run. Now Wes Clarke has gone back to back to make it 3–1 Nashville top of six.
  10. Melvin hit the first batter in the fifth, then got a 5-4-3 double play before giving up a triple to the third man up. At a season high 75 pitches Jack Seppings is on to try for the strand.
  11. Carlos Rodriguez singled, stole second and came around to score on a Garrett Cooper single. Those guys ain’t Brewers anymore though so Nashville trails 1-0 middle two.
  12. Melvin Hernandez works around a leadoff single and one out double by getting a pair of groundouts to secure the zero top of four.
  13. Walther single, Made single (caught stealing), Payne walk (stolen base), and Adamczewski sac fly gets Carolina a run bottom of three.
  14. Biloxi strong out of the gate with an Adams double, Pratt single, Wilken double, Warren sac fly and Rodriguez single shaking out to three runs in the first.
  15. White Sox have beat BOS (three times lol), MIN (twice), LAA, ATH, and us for their eight wins. Rockies have beat TBR, ATL, WAS, ATH, and us for their five wins. So at this still early juncture it’s just the Brewers and A’s that have lost to each of the two legitimately horrendous teams. It would be perfectly reasonable to find this kind of not so fun fact to be a harbinger of doom, but I don’t see it like that. Way I see things, Afterlife Ueck was never gonna pull those strings seven months straight for wire to wire dominance, that wouldn’t be exciting. I think Zombie Bob is a lil more mischievous than that. He’s gonna want to inject some drama (and levity) into the proceedings, some ups and downs along the way. Curious to see what heavenly delights he has in store for the first Cubs series.
  16. Interesting that Carlos Rodriguez made the list over Chad Patrick when they are the same general kind of pitcher but one is taking care of business in MLB versus AAA. Also surprised Black came in higher ranked than EMJ considering Ernesto raked to end last year, and then again in spring training and continuing through to Nashville versus Black being underwhelming and now hurt for going on a year now Mildly shocked Wilken, Lara and Knoth all held onto spots between injury and spotty performance when so many other players of the same calibre are healthy and producing right now. Hard for me to include Mike Boeve too as a guy who is currently hurt and was trending towards being a contact only 1B prospect pre-injury, much less still in the Top Ten. Thought I'd be in the minority with Misio over Made, but looks like that wasn't the case either.
  17. Looks like he's reigned in his command somewhat to start the year with "only" 8 BB in 15 IP versus 42 BB in 52 IP last year. Hopefully Carolina can show some patience and then pounce on any mistakes.
  18. Looks like StatCast has Sal in the negative too, though not quite so severe at only -2. Would imagine that should stabilize some as the season goes on. On the team level the Brewers are a little below their usual rankings at +2 DRS (20th), +4 FRV (7th), and a .708 defensive efficiency (11th) which is just a simple measure of what percent of batted balls result in outs. Since that last one is a rate stat it does a decent job showing how volatile the early season numbers are. Last year the Brewers .709 DefEff tied for 3rd behind SEA in 1st at .724 and just behind LAD in 2nd at .710. So far this year there are six teams at .724 or higher (CIN tops at .754), and another three teams ahead of last year’s second best 162 game rate, so still lots of noise in there. Other bottom line thing to look at is good old fashioned ERA/FIP gap, currently at 4.08/4.47 for a -0.39 (7th). A little behind their recent pace of -0.51 the last two years, If we look at just April after the ugly 0 W - 4 L start though it comes out at 2.95/3.64 for a lot nicer -0.69 gap.
  19. Jacob Misiorowski Still have him over Jesus on account of proximity and the chance he manages to stick as a potential top of the rotation SP. Jesus Made Crazy that he has maybe even exceeded already redonkumongous expectations.Cooper Pratt Holding his own as one of the youngest players in the Southern League. Interesting profile change with a 8.5 BB% | 9.6 K% | .159 ISO so far this year versus a career 10.2 BB% | 20.0 K% | .125 ISO entering the season.Logan Henderson Dazzled in his MLB debut. Work on that slider/cutter in Nashville and wait for the call.Braylon Payne Best OF prospect in the system. Just love seeing this kid succeed, especially after all the consternation over the pick in the draft thread.Luis Pena As nuts as Jesus has been maybe even more nuts that Luis has continued to keep pace.Jeferson Quero Injury Holding Pattern.Craig Yoho Getting acclimated to MLB. Chad Patrick Has held his own for an injury riddled rotation.Robert Gasser Injury Holding Pattern.K.C. Hunt Results aren't quite there yet here at the outset, but best combination of stuff/proximity after Misio/Henderson.Bishop Letson Pretty dominant 1.65 ERA / 2.08 FIP in early Midwest League action.Bryce Meccage Holding his own 2.92 ERA / 3.65 FIP in first taste of full season ball.Caleb Durbin Has helped solidify an ugly 3B situation in Milwaukee.Ernesto Martinez Raking in Nashville waiting for a call.Josh Adamczewski Destroying the Carolina League, have to imagine he'll se Wisconsin soon.Marco Dinges Bat looks ready for Wisco, will just depend on how the catching part comes along.Carlos F Rodriguez Has been lights out in Nashville with his 1.26 ERA and 2.66 FIP ranking 3rd and 5th among 55 International League pitchers with at least 20 IP at the time of this typing.Luke Adams He and Brock Wilken have matching .169 AVG | .183 ISO at the moment. Give Adams the edge for being two years younger and having a more stable looking 13.5 BB% | 19.1 K% compared to a 25.5 BB% | 28.6 K% for Wilken. Eric Bitonti Strikeouts (34.4 K%) and zero HR are a little concerning, but his eight doubles are tops in the Carolina League so hopefully a little breakout is forthcoming. Dang, what a tough vote. Easily another ten pitchers (Cornielle, Hardin, Rodriguez, Holobetz, Gillis, Bjorn, Travis Smith, Melvin Hernandez, Stiven Cruz) and five position players (Areinamo, Alastre, Di Turi, Burke, Wilken) that have made legit cases for those last few spots after Dinges at #17 in the early going. And that's not even mentioning the injury holding pattern guys like Coleman that just came back or Black/Boeve who are yet to play and have been Top 5 to 10 org guys in the past. Or Knoth who we won't be seeing again until next year. Then you've got the new crop of DSL guys (Antunez, Fenelon, Acosta) and ACL guys (Anderson, Corobo, Ortuno) that we have to look forward to later in the summer. Fun stuff.
  20. After losing the Finals at age 27 in 2006, Dirk’s Mavs went out in R1, R1, R2, and R1 before finally winning it all at age 32 in 2011. Next couple seasons look pretty bleak with Dame out, then coming back off major injury at age 36, but who knows how everything else will look two years from now. The “smart” move might be to trade Giannis for the best possible return of young players and picks to get a head start on the next 50 year rebuild, but sounds like Giannis doesn’t want to go anywhere and I’d guess Horst doesn’t want to be known as the guy who traded him away (& the Bucks certainly aren’t smart). No matter what, we’re hoping for a miracle either way, so which one would you rather dream on? A legit contender somehow coalesces around Giannis over the next two to four years to make one more magical run? Or we somehow land another superstar with loyalty to Milwaukee beyond his first extension & assemble a legit contender around them? The Bucks FO has a way better track record acquiring veterans than they do drafting, so I’m cool riding with Giannis until the wheels fall off.
  21. Just a comically obscene walk rate. His .183 ISO was tied with Adams for 6th in the Southern League entering tonight so he’s at least been doing damage in the rare instances he’s getting hits.
  22. Luke Adams two run bomb after a Zavi leadoff single has two more on the board for Biloxi. But that ain’t it. Darrien Miller triple and Ramon Rodriguez sac fly adds one more. Now 6-2 top of six as Bladimir Restituyo has just singled.
  23. David McCabe of Columbus is second with 17 entering the evening.
  24. In order below are the numbers for Brewers 3B in aggregate, McMahon, Ortiz and oft mentioned off season target Alex Bohm... 182/248/283 (49 wRC+) 3.6 BB% | 19.6 K% | -0.6 WAR 152/280/242 (42 wRC+) 14.4 BB% | 33.9 K% | -0.2 WAR 190/264/220 (40 wRC+) 8.0 BB% | 15.2 K% | -0.3 WAR 221/252/274 (45 wRC+) 2.5 BB% | 17.6 K% | -0.4 WAR Brewers might just have been doomed from the jump on 3B this year, though Durbin has at least stabilized things somewhat over the last couple weeks.
