  1. Baseball: Byung Hyun Kim (awesome arm angle) Football: Warrick Dunn Basketball: Michael Jordan
  2. Burnes reasonably could have thought he was the best person on the planet at doing his job before entering the arbitration room. It is not common for genuinely top performers in corporate jobs to hear ‘no’ very often.
  3. I thought Burnes generally pitched his heart out in Milwaukee. He received a rude awakening during arbitration. I’m sure we all would be unnerved if our bosses made arguments about how undeserving we are of a specific salary increase.
  4. I wanted to believe the same thing but just saw Burnes has a 2.84 ERA in 19 postseason innings for Milwaukee. Plus, eight innings of 1 ER for Baltimore.
  5. Is Burnes due for an arm/shoulder injury in the next few years? I certainly don’t wish that upon him but he has had many high intensity innings.
  6. If we had $35 million in additional payroll, would we want to give it to Corbin Burnes in his thirties?
  7. Mitchell has .805 career OPS in 322 MLB at-bats. Career OPS+ is 121. That’s not bad and demonstrates some power, to be sure.
  8. Nice move from a billionaire. I do not expect Wisconsin sports teams will follow suit.
  9. Better than being closed off on trading Hoskins? 🤷‍♂️
  10. Quickly put together, I think Milwaukee will have more HR in 2025: Brewers had 177 HR in 2024. I don’t expect many HR from Frelick but some of our bench bats will be in double digit HR totals.
  11. Would someone claim him off waivers? I assume so? Interesting way to free up money. Maybe poor form and Hoskins will almost certainly improve during a contract year.
  12. Maybe Caleb Durbin is the next Belliard? I liked Belliard.
  13. Loved Callix Crabbe! Unrelated note: I have a Brewers logo home plate signed by Prince Fielder, Dennis Sarfate. Manny Parra, Tony Gwynn Jr and John Vandenberg (accidentally). Good memories of the 2003 Beloit Snappers.
  14. Dustin Pedroia was 5’7 Luisangel Acuña is 5’8 Short is the new market inefficiency 🤷‍♂️
  15. We didn’t love Burnes trade until it ended up being good or fine.
  16. Altuve has 229 career HR. .451 SLG last year for Durbin isn’t nothing.
  17. Durbin had much higher SLG and ISO at upper levels of minor leagues compared to Frelick. That must account for at least something?
  18. I don’t envy teams signing aging stars to expensive contracts. The Angels committed $911 million dollars to Pujols, Trout and Rendon and will have nothing to show for it. I appreciate Milwaukee would almost never be a destination for these players but it should be noted that we probably don’t want many of these aging stars on our roster, anyway. The 2023 World Series winning Texas Rangers roster is not appreciably better than ours.
  19. Isn’t it within an owner’s rights to overpay a player, though?
  20. Eventually, the super teams will have hundreds of millions of dollars committed to players past their prime. I have to believe there’s a tipping point in a few years.
  21. But we shouldn’t want Adames on our roster for the next seven years, money aside. I expect Adames will have a nice 2025 before regressing to the point where the annual salary begins to hurt the Giants. The Brewers should not want that.
  22. Adames is not Giannis. In 2025, in terms of defense, Adames would be the third best option to play SS behind Turang and Ortiz. Not every free agent should be resigned by Milwaukee. I am happy the Giants believe Adames is worth $180 million. Truthfully, Adames probably is not worth that money. Especially after a few years.
  23. Aaron Jones? Aaron Rodgers, in part because of his excessive salary.
  24. The point I’m making is we should not take Adames signing with the Giants to be a data point for grievances against how MLB is structured.
