Something doesn’t seem right with all these HR… -
Stroman is missing over the heart of the plate, a lot.
-
Looks like pen will need 18 to 21 outs today.
-
Exciting if this is Stroman’s command today:
-
Dallas Keuchel, Zach Davies, Jordan Lyles, Chase Anderson and Julio Teheran are each available. 🤷♂️
-
Must win
-
Cortes velocity was down a little bit. I’m not smart enough to know if his pitches lacked movement compared to usual though.
-
Civale did not pitch well in his last start at Yankee Stadium on 4/21/24. 4.2 IP, 8 H, 5 BB, 5 K, 5 ER. Most of the Yankee lineup will be different today compared to last April, though.
-
Career vs Stroman Yelich .900 OPS (15 PA) Bauers .795 OPS (12 PA) Hoskins .217 OPS (19 PA) Stroman faced Brewers in Milwaukee on 4/28/24. 4 IP, 6 H, 5 BB, 4 K and 4 ER. Brewers lost 15-5 after Uribe, Peguero and Junk allowed 11 ER in three innings of relief. Bauers pitched a scoreless ninth 🙂

Cortes left the ballpark without speaking to reporters in what the Brewers said was a miscommunication .https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44456561/yankees-slug-four-1st-inning-home-runs-brewers-nestor-cortez

I forgot about Janson Junk. Now with Triple-A Jacksonville.
-
There has been even more game thread activity today in a non-competitive game compared to a competitive opening day.
-
Most HR allowed in franchise history
-
Brewers tie the franchise record with eight home runs allowed in single game.
-
Remember that time against the Dodgers we allowed eight HR, including four to Shawn Green? We lost 16-3.
-
Brewers have only allowed seven home runs today. Team record is eight home runs allowed in single game.
-
Was Cortes throwing harder than 90 mph in spring?
-
Cortes with a team record for most HR allowed in one inning.
-
Most HR allowed by single pitcher in a game is 6. Michael Blazek https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/WAS/WAS201707270.shtml
-
Batting seventh for New York #31 Pablo Reyes. Yankees decided that batting a catcher lead off one time in team history was enough. Austin Wells batting sixth. Trent Grisham batting ninth.
-
I appreciate this AI generated story: Oliver Dunn sitting again. I guess some people conceivably have Dunn on their fantasy rosters. https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/headlines/oliver-dunn-news-sitting-again-versus-lhp-953926
-
I suppose I could have put my comment in blue. Trying to get the game thread overreactions into midseason form.
-
Same as opening day, partially expected Chourio to bat ninth. I guess that’s why I’m not a manager
-
Royals are throwing LHP Kris Bubic against Milwaukee for home opener. We have not seen him since 2021. In his 11.1 IP he has 11 K, 2 hits and no runs allowed against Brewers. Granted, there’s nobody on our roster today that was around back then aside from Yelich.

A closer look against our victory over the Braves on 5/18/22. The damage against Fried came from Tyrone Taylor, Rowdy Tellez and Mike Brosseau. This is also the game historians call the ‘Keston Hiura game’’. An 11th inning walk off against RHP Jesse Chavez.
