  1. I also enjoyed how matchups he is watching was just Carolina vs. whoever. Didn’t matter who they were playing, this is the low-A team to watch.
  2. Assuming they are doing it again at least to start the season, I wonder who Hosterler’s tandem partner will be.
  3. If you want to be optimistic, at least it isn’t the shoulder again.
  4. Once Wichrowski and Crow get stretched out this should be a really good pitching staff. I hope Vargas takes the surprise opportunity and runs with it given the lack of outfielders.
  5. I guess on the plus side you have to figure that a version of EMJ who walks more than he strikes out will be good eventually. Realistically, they should get better. They have enough guys who have hit before in AAA, but the lineup did look better on paper when we thought it would include Quero, Black and Collins.
  6. Great to get the opening win. Mildly surprised by the one-inning outing for Garcia. I kind of had him pegged as the fifth starter until Patrick is back. Then again, if the rehab stints run through Nashville, they might not need a fifth starter for a while.
  7. I thought the Brewers official on the prospect game broadcast (maybe Flanagan or Castro? I missed the start of the interview) said the tentative plan was to start Anderson in the ACL, although plans could change. If they didn’t (or if Payne misses time, I think Alastre could get a fair amount of outfield time.
  8. I’ll say 88 but that is still enough to take the Central with the Dodgers being the only NL team over 95 wins.
  9. They might also just be looking at Collins as a short term placeholder if Perkins’ rehab is going well.
  10. It seems like Collins vs. Margot. Collins seems a bit more likely to me (don’t need to clear a roster spot, can play second as well).
  11. The last two names were two of the more interesting inclusions on the camp roster. Outside of Torres, who was a given, it is interesting that these were the two brought over early and not any of the other other pitchers who seem likely to find themselves stateside in the ACL this year: King, Quezada, Aparicio, Downs, Bravo, etc. Mercado was obviously already on my list of names to watch. Mercedes wasn't even really on my radar, though, and I've probably written roughly a novella's worth on the Brewers' DSL teams from last year.
  12. Yah, I think it is definitely one of the two popular guesses, but I lean Cirillo.
  13. MVC! MVC! MVC!
  14. He was a scratch from the prospect game with back tightness. I am guessing it relates to that.
  15. Is it bad that I was glad that outside Low missing another season, there weren’t really any surprises?
  16. I wonder if that was the first MLB spring training hit for Alastre and Rodriguez. I can’t remember if either got any at bats last year.
  17. Yep, made a last minute change and didn’t account right for it
  18. I'll give it a go. POS | Player | Team | Value C | Willson Contreras | Cardinals | 50 1B | Christian Walker | Astros | 75 2B | Ozzie Albies | Braves | 25 SS | Gunner Henderson | Orioles | 150 3B | Austin Riley | Braves | 50 LF | Christian Yelich | Brewers | 25 CF | Aaron Judge | Yankees | 200 RF | Anthony Santander | Blue Jays | 200 DH | Shohei Ohtani | Dodgers | 200 Total: $950
  19. I mean, the Brewers have shown a definite willingness to deal early. Adames is the obvious example, but they literally had the earliest trade on this list last year.
  20. They are so bad they almost seem intentionally bad. Like this conversation seems plausible. ”How are we going to get attention for yet another line of hats?” ”Why don’t we make them so bad that someone will feel compelled to write 30 pieces of vaguely surreal poetry in tribute to their supreme awfulness? And if we can make some of them appear to spell dirty words to generate controversy, let’s do that, too.” ”Eureka, that’s just the thing to do it.”
  21. Once Quero is healthy enough to catch, I'm guessing the No. 1 lineup, assuming any of Bauers, Canha or Margot who don't make the 40-man opt out, would be: C: Quero 1B: Martinez 2B: Seigler SS: Delgado (he has been getting a fair amount of time there this spring) 3B: Loser of the battle for the last couple infield spots OF: Black, Collins, Hicklen DH: Clarke Unless Zamora makes a big leap from last year, he might just be backing up Delgado. Collins could shift to the infield when Seigler or, we'll say Monasterio, have a day off, opening more time for Herron and Oliva. There are also a number of permutations that could occur based upon the big league roster. If the team keeps Dunn/Durbin/Monasterio over Capra and loses him to another team, that opens a spot. If Canha or Bauers, Capra and Thomas all make the team, someone is getting DFA'd, potentially a hitter who could elect free agency.
  22. I don’t think I have ever said this before, but this feels like the product of a mind that hasn’t slept in two days in the best possible ways.
  23. Nice to see confirmation Corobo is stateside!
  24. I read that as, Uribe could be affected as they wouldn’t have him serve the suspension if Mears is unavailable.
  25. Did I miss one or was today the first Demetrio Nadal sighting?
