  1. I don't think hes being undersold at all. Quite a few people are banking on him (totally unproven at the MLB level) to be a serviceable starter in year 1 over proven vets like Cobb and Lynn.
  2. I'd be a very unhappy individual if we only got Cotton for Santana. Mortgaging the farm for Archer would look brilliant compared to that Bubba Derby/Nottingham-esque return for Santana.
  3. I might give you Yelich but Cain is 32. His 5 years of control is more like 3 because he's going to decline throughout the contract. You don't know that, it's speculation. Tom Brady was supposed to decline about 4 years ago, wasn't he? What about the 45 year old Olympic ski jumper I watched this morning? Sure skills will likely slow down as one ages but Cain is not a Gomez type that abuses himself. TVM for the first three years may outweigh the slight overpay in the last year or two.
  4. Darvish, pay through the nose and get it done.
  5. Absolutely, yes. Without question you take Suter and Woodruff over Lynn and Cobb factoring in money and picks. Why? Because Lynn and Cobb aren't TOR types and that's what we need. Absolutely not on Brent Suter, I could see the argument on Woodruff. Cobb and Lynn are proven MLB starters, the latter of which is a bulldog. Brent Suter throws freaking 43 mph. Don't know why youd compare them to a TOR type either because Suter or Woodruff are #5's and that wast the question. Not saying I want them unless its cheap, and loss of a draft pick is a factor for sure. But Suter absolutely doesn't belong in a regular full time starters role in MLB. IMO
  6. Haven't we already been through this trivia game of how virtually nobody below Vaughn has been useful? Or the other picks?
  7. Agreed, and I think to be fair to Braun (who isn't the world's best defender) he needs to be given one position and not moved around from game to game. I'm really warming to the idea of holding onto Santana and our prospects and simply signing a free agent SP, ideally one who will sign a 2-3 year deal so probably Lynn or Cobb and not Darvish or Arrieta. If we can get a solid young SP for Santana then do it, but otherwise there is no harm in holding onto him and making lesser deals for Aguilar and/or Thames to free up first base for Braun. I wouldn't get too warm with it, he's probably still gone.
  8. I created quite the controversy apparently. Lol. All I said was I thought folks should be careful out there, nothing more. Some people (myself is one) are a bit more aggressive than the tortoise 40 year plan so it is a bit more imperative to pay attention to the shorter term trends. And that's not to say the 40 year plan is wrong, most people should be doing it as they don't have the time, energy, wherewithal, etc to be doing anything different. The free money rolled for quite some time, we're due for some sideways/volatility for awhile. Especially when the algorithms decide to sell 3-400 points off in afterhours trading based on what turned out to be a fake news piece like they did tonight, or when Credit Suisse ETN's go bankrupt and terminate in a half hour during extended hours trading when it had been one of the "best" money makers for years. Many many managers got F'd bad with XIV and SVXY.
  9. Boy it's a sad state of affairs when the New York Yankees are trolling for attention. What a pathetic offseason.
  10. Frazier isn't even worth 8 million. He's a washed up has been, anybody that watched a Yankees game late last year could see it.
  11. Be careful out there folks...something is broken in this market. Totally irrational volatility and the ETN's that the big boys have been using to "short volatility" for free money the past several years just absolutely blew up. SVXY and XIV
  12. I think this has always been the most likely scenario of "TOR" the Brewers would add. While I don't love the idea of 5 years $125 million, I do love the work ethic he brings. Intensity like that tends to rub off on younger more impressionable people. Also on the plus side the significant upgrade we're in the process of doing in the OF will help pitching out as well. See: Byron Buxton added to Twins OF to a higher degree.
  13. Mike Ferrin of MLB Network said today the Rays are looking to shed payroll but wont be dealing Archer to achieve that, he said Odorizzi is more likely to move. He has an in within someone in the org. If we got Darvish I would be fine with Odorizzi. If not I don't really like the idea of it much.
  14. Pretty good move to me, trash for somebody that can bang a bit down low. Without giving up any of our pieces
  15. I spy Daenerys!
  16. Because a trade hasn't happened for a week and no FA's have signed anywhere that means the team is set?
  17. I just had this discussion with a few Vikings fans. Even though they don't have that elusive Super Bowl win as a franchise, their history is as rich as just about anyone else. They have one of the better winning percentages of all time, been to four SB's, ton's of division championship teams and many great and even quite a few HOF players. Hard to bag on that franchise too much. But it's so much fun..... Living over in MN now i've become much more neutral to the Vikings and their fans. Most of them know they will choke a game away when it counts and embrace it. The Bears on the other hand I will NEVER stop hating.
  18. Eliminate Instant Replay. WOAH SOLVDD
  19. I don't care which way it goes but in it's current form it is the dumbest thing I have seen aside from "Leaders and Legends" in sports.
  20. Nice take Davison. Completely unaware of the clock....first 10 seconds of basketball I've watched in two months and will be the last of these turds. Hope next year is better.
  21. Shall we test this theory with Marsh...Miles Plumlee? Ekpe Udoh? Johnny O' Bryant? Dan Gadzuric? The options are pretty deep in this organization the past decade. I think people severely underestimate the learning curve these guys like Giannis and Thon are undertaking. Patience is a virtue, not everyone can be a once in a generation achiever like Giannis so fast. No I don't think Thon will be of that level, but with experience and time I think he might be a serviceable piece to the organization. It would also help if J Kidd didn't put him in bad situations on offense and his pathetic defensive scheme. This is the point where the Bucks management we've known for 20 years will give up on a guy like Thon for a quick fix like Jordan or Whiteside. I'm all for getting him and the team some help because it's really needed, but throwing the towel in would be an asinine idea. As for Brogdon, I love having him around and hes a really good player, but he's not taking us to any sort of promised land and I concur with a previous poster. We need to trade him when we can while he's a good asset (1st round lottery pick or something controllable down low for a couple years??) before we dole out a 10+ million a year contract to another 6th-8th man candidate...we can't have the temptation there for management to do this either, it's another patented Bucks move over the past 20 years.
  22. Winning cures all ills. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Astros (from the doldrum years) say hi.
  23. We're all in withdrawal from the high of Yelich/Cain week I actually think Bauer makes more sense than Salazar for us.
  24. I would bet he's the guy Stearns wants given the kind of nerd both of them are. Salazar is probably a fallback.
  25. I doubt it, but that's at least something else to talk about and an interesting catch. Lefty 1B close to the majors, I know nothing about him but i'd imagine we would be mortgaging the farm for him and Archer.
