  1. Give me Walker instead if these are the two options and send prospects elsewhere.
  2. Sounds to me like a sell high on Thames is afoot.
  3. Sign somebody - WE SPENT TOO MUCH or THIS GUY STINKS Don't sign somebody - WHY ISN'T STEARNS DOING ANYTHING
  4. This is a pretty big get for the cheap Pohlads. Didn't think i'd see the day when they start shelling out 8-10 mil for relievers.
  5. "Defense keeps getting torched every night" They're T-10 in the league in defense per NBA.com. Allowing less PPG than Golden State, Cleveland, Houston, three of the four representatives in the E/W conference finals this year. No they aren't regarded as defensive powerhouses, but all those teams do is win and/or win championships. https://stats.nba.com/teams/defense/?sort=W&dir=-1 I know Kidd is vehemently disliked around here, and there are things I wish he'd do better too. Please do name a few coaches you think are better though that aren't named Poppovich or Brad Stevens. Lebron makes the coach wherever he goes and Kerr lives off the best team in decades. Most coaches in the NBA are a dime a dozen, it all comes down to the players he has. I'm not sure what you expect out of this team on defense when you're playing a stick that can't shoot beyond 5 feet (Henson) 30 minutes a night that has not progressed very much in 5 years, and an EXTREMELY raw and new to the game Thon Maker 20 minutes a night. We are likely hoping DJ Wilson or Thon can become that lengthy big that can run the floor and contribute as a secondary piece to Giannis/Bledsoe/Parker in time. Whoop de doo Rashad Vaughn flopped, after the first 5 picks of any NBA draft it is a total crapshoot. They took a shot on a kid that is so young he's only 21 today, and it probably won't pan out. This isn't 1999 anymore, defense is not a priority in this league until you get deep in the playoffs. It's all about who can shoot the 3 ball, scoring in general, and who shows up every night. We looked into Dwight Howard several times recently, looked at JaVale McGee and ZaZa for trade recently, and who knows what else. The bottom line is there just isn't much out there for quality bigs. The 76ers had to take 2 elite draft picks just to find one that would work...and they had to gamble on his injury history to boot. Not sure what you expect the Bucks to do when we have people to pay soon.
  6. Nope. I can't cheer for the Vikings. Its like cold fusion... just doesn't work. Agreed. Viking fans are insufferable enough as it is. I'd hate to see what they would be like with a championship. I'd like to keep the 'you've never won a Super Bowl' thing hanging over their heads as long as possible. While I'd hate to see Brady win another one, with 5 he's pretty much already considered the G.O.A.T. by everyone around. Everything else is just icing for him at this point. Mind blowing to me that Brady has played in a combined total of 18 conference championships and Super Bowls already. I'm not going to lie, I'm very envious. We've played in a total of 10 in my entire lifetime, and obviously we've been a highly successful NFL franchise. It's not so bad after you live over here for awhile. Most of them realize that they will just choke in the big game every single time and alot even get a laugh out of it. I've learned to be more neutral on Minnesota as the years go by for that very reason, the Bears on the other hand...NEVER. If you're moving over here the Common man on KFAN will be your best friend since we rarely get Packer games...he's an equal opportunity offender.
  7. I can't even imagine what they're going to value that slob at. It may be a good company, but the Goldman Sach is going to price that IPO so high it's going to ruin any chance of making money on it for a fair bit of time IMO. Hopefully you are able to get in on the IPO and not the day it starts trading.
  8. I'm hoping he is so smart that he just driving up the price for the Cubs and Cardinals. I guess that is about the last hope left with this situation. Arietta's pedigree is miles ahead of anybody on this pitching staff. Your standards must be pretty darn high. The only comperable MIGHT be Nelson, but even his "good year" this past season is not really better than Arietta's several year track record. Who knows when/how Jimmy bounces back from injury. Not saying I think we need to sign the guy, but he'd probably end up being one of the best pitchers this organization has seen in decades when all is said and done. Plus we'd have our prospects to go out and buy another top pitcher when the time is right like an Archer in his prime to assume the #1 role when Jake's older.
  9. This one makes sense to me. Looked decent up until the past year or two...my guess is what homer said that they think maybe his delivery is fixable.
  10. But he was a shoe-in for the #5 spot??
  11. There's no problem relying almost exclusively on draft/ develop if you draft really well. They won a SB doing that with Rodgers, Matthews, Raji, etc. He brought in Woodson which worked out well. Problem is, much like Ron Wolf, TT ran out of steam as the years went by. Nobody is going to have a perfect record on draft day, but TT had some bad drafts, and whiffed too often in the 1st round. Hard to draft and develop guys that don't even belong in the league. Then in recent years he developed this odd fascination with players from the West Coast. When you fall in love with one scout over all others, it's a problem. Agreed, I think the downfall of the packers were that, the last 3 drafts were not that good and TT had no backup plan for Rodgers going down. Jones and King will probably be good but were just rookies, but after focusing on defense the last few seasons, besides Martinez and Clark, there wasn't much there. Also after being caught with no plan in 2013 when Rodgers went down, you would think they would have a better idea than throwing out Hundley. If they had a veteran QB as a backup I think they are a playoff team even with Rodgers for the last 3/4 of the season. Look at what the Vikes did after Bradford went down. My biggest gripe with TT. Most people learn after getting caught with their pants down once. I will go so far as to suggest that an organization should be drafting a QB every single year. The position is THAT important to the franchise and it only takes one wrong step to take a guy down for a year or more. Worst case scenario you end up with a RG3/Cousins type of situation and have to trade one of them...but that's not such a bad thing is it? I guess that may be too forward thinking for pencil pushers inside GM offices.
  12. Not the Wisconsin basketball i've grown up with the past 15 years.
  13. Lovely. So we pegged a successor less qualified than TT while alienating both our star player and Eliot Wolf in the process. This reeks of a 'good ol boy' move. Someone in the organization for years that has probably been promised the role by Murphy. They knew who they wanted all along and nothing was going to change their mind. So we're now entrusting the last few years of Rodgers' career to a guy who can't evaluate talent. What could go wrong? I never thought in my life the day would come where I would absolutely hate my football team and this organization. If this happens and Perry becomes DC it will officially be here. What a dump we're turning into. Ask the Minnesota Twins how the "good old country club" worked for them the past 25 years pre Molitor/new GM. And don't give me the line of "all we do is win around here," and "last time he canned his staff they won a Super bowl." The Titanic made it halfway to America before the rearranging of the deck chairs quit working too.
  14. I'm calling this #FakeNews. Timed all too conveniently with the start of the playoffs....let Angry Tom and Angry Bill ensue as they plow their way to another Super Bowl like they always do when they are angry.
  15. I don't think success needs quotes. He had it. Won a Super Bowl with it. I don't know why you are arguing with me. We both watch enough games to see that the defense is stale and not operating the way it did (7) years ago. Matthews is old and useless and there is no Woodson or Collins. Blame Ted, blame Dom, stick up for one what does it matter? The bottom line is his teaching is not getting through to the players on the field. Hideous defense and guys like Haha missing tackle after tackle are his responsibility. That's the bottom line. Should we reminisce over Colin Kaepernick record rushing days or Larry Fitzgerald 80 yard bombs in the playoffs to get the point?
  16. Because he had one of the best DB ever Charles Woodson, a hall of fame performing talent Clay Matthews, and a fantastic safety Nick Collins to bail him out. Especially when Collins quit that was a huge blow. Doesn't every good defensive coordinator have good players? I guess I don't understand your point? If anything your statement shows how poorly Ted has done with giving Capers the players he needs to get it right. I'm no Ted defender. You were pondering about Capers "success" early on, and that's why IMO.
  17. I like Cain alot in his present state, but the thought of paying 2/3 of our OF big money when they're starting to get close to the ledge scares me a bit.
  18. Though this is correct, the difference is that Fangio has had immense success at both San Fran and Chicago. Their defensive rankings improved SUBSTANTIALLY in both places his first year on the job. Didn’t Capers have some very good success early on in his first years on the job? I just think most of these guys are so interchangeable. Dom will probably go somewhere and have success again. Because he had one of the best DB ever Charles Woodson, a hall of fame performing talent Clay Matthews, and a fantastic safety Nick Collins to bail him out. Especially when Collins quit that was a huge blow.
  19. I don't want those retreads Philbin or McAdoo around here. They are just putting McCarthy in his comfort zone, rather than lighting a fire under their butts to perform. Surely there is better out there than "bringing back the old gang."
  20. This, this, and this. The national championship was Georgia vs. Oklahoma. Clemson loses to a 4-8 team and gets in, Wisconsin loses to the #5 team in the country and doesn't get in. I still want to know what the W/L record is for top-10 teams for home night games over the last three years. Wisconsin didn't just win their bowl game, they won a night road game against a top-10 team. Know how this gets solved? It's simple. 1) Don't lose to OSU when it counts (again) 2) Don't schedule Florida Atlantic (2017), New Mexico (2018), Kent State (2019), Southern Illinois (2020). There literally is not a legitimate NC game until 2020 with Notre Dame. Sure you can't predict BYU would be horrible when you scheduled them, but some of these other cupcakes are a total waste of time. We don't need Alabama on the schedule, but a respectable mid major or usually lower ranked school would be a serious + for our resume yearly, especially with us being in the weaker half of the conference. Play a road game if nobody wants to come to Madison.
  21. The difference however is IF you give 20 million/year to Cobb, then you HAVE to spend more money elsewhere on multiple players or the move makes absolutely zero sense. You can't sign a mid rotation guy and then be done. With Archer we give up prospects but we don't need to blow our budget in order for it to work.
  22. Hope it's not Russ Ball or we can kiss free agency goodbye for another 10 years.
  23. If we drop 20(+?) mil a year on Alex Cobb Stearns should be fired immediately.
