  1. Stearns may yet rule the day. If Hader's time as an elite reliever is over then he made the trade at precisely the right moment.
  2. I agree with Brewcrew82. 1. The close to 50% whiff rate is just not acceptable. Even the best power hitters dont whiff 45-50% of the time. 2. He is a terrible defender. In the end that is just not a guy that belongs on the roster of a contender.
  3. Needed to get a couple back there. This one is not likely to end well.
  4. I hate to write this. However, this series against the Jays is probably a "just dont get swept" type of series. Finding a way to grab 2 of 3 would be HUGE. Burnes is going on Saturday so there is a chance.
  5. I'm not quite ready to write off Binelas. However, that trade does not look like an absolute disaster.
  6. This Chi Chi Gonzales thing reminds me of Zack Godley from last year. Dude does not belong anywhere near the team but is starting. Not likely to end well.
  7. Jopal is spot on. This team just does not have an elite bat, much less multiple. It was supposed to be Yelich, but we all know he is a shell of 2018/19. We knew this was a problem at the end of 2021. But Stearns did very little to fix the problem. The problem has now come home to roost. IMHO if this team wants to compete it needs to acquire: 1. Elite or very good DH. 2. Elite or very good CF. 3. One more reliever. Think a Boxberger clone or 2021 Strickland. This could be done but it would completely gut the system. Bottom line: The 2022 Brewers should be sellers. The offense is terrible and good teams are exposing the problem.
  8. Oh boy. You're going to have a bunch of people come by and say, "well he's the 26th man, so who really cares." I actually agree with you. This guy is terrible and does not belong on an MLB roster, much less the roster of a contender. This is the type of guy I would not trust to protect a 5-6 run lead. Yuck.
  9. Gotta figure he will be easier to slip through waivers when they remove him from the 40 man.
  10. The guy the crew recalled, Trevor Kelly, kinda looks like a gas can. Am I missing something? He was good at Nashville, but has been absolutely shelled at the MLB level.
  11. So Mejia was on PED's and sucked. Yikes. Hopefully that is the last we see of him.
  12. I am hopeful Mejia is DFA'd by noon tomorrow. Awful. If this team is "going for it" Small should be up asap.
  13. Here's my 2 cents with comments on the Top 12. 1. Garrett Mitchell - Mitchell has all the tools to be an MLB All-Star. I'm not bumping him down based on 129 AB's at AA. 2022 is a big year for Garrett. If he struggles and/or is injured, let the bust talk begin and I will drop him significantly next offseason. 2. Aaron Ashby - Another MLB starter up through the system. The question is not if he's good, but how good? 3. Joey Wiemer - 4th round pick to top prospect? I'll take it. Most people did'nt even rank him mid-year 2021. If he destroys AA this year he goes to #1. 4. Ethan Small - I still think he's an MLB starter. And yet another produced by the system. 5. Sal Frelick - I should have him ranked lower. I hated the pick and still don't like the pick. Dude is not likely to develop power. He is going to need to play ridiculous D and put up a very high OBP to be an above average MLB player. I hope I am wrong and missing something here. 6. Abner Uribe - Throws gas. If it goes over the plate he will be in the MLB pen asap. 7. Hedbert Perez - Still young. Likely will move him up next year. The low walk rate is the first sign of concern. But this is still a very young player. 8. Brice Turang - Can he develop power? If yes, he's JJ Hardy. If not, he's another dime a dozen SS who cant hit. 9. Freddy Zamora - Here is my sleeper in the whole system. I loved this pick two years ago and still do. Check the 2021 OBP numbers which hovered around .400. 10. Mario Feliciano - 23 years old now. I have Mario much higher than most. I think this is the year we find out if Feliciano is just another light hitting catcher. 11. Ernesto Wilson Martinez - Big upside here. Could be a legit 1B prospect by mid season. 12. Zavier Warren - Nice OBP numbers and a little pop from a 3b prospect. Maybe the crew has something here. 13. Antoine Kelley 14. Dylan File 15. Carlos Rodriguez 16. Tyler Black 17. Joe Gray 18. Felix Valerio 19. Jackson Churio 20. Corey Ray 21. Zack Brown 22. Luke Barker 23. Jefferson Quero 24. Clayton Andrews 25. Wes Wilson 26. Alex Bettinger
  14. Boxboerger with a nightmare outing tonight. Yeesh. 5 ER.
  15. I think about that just about every year. I find myself going to fewer games and becoming less interested. This just adds to that feeling.
  16. Well, here we are, February 1. We are about 2 weeks from when pitchers and catchers should report and about 4 weeks from when spring training should begin. I think it is safe to say that spring training will not likely be starting on time. If they cannot get things hammered out in the next 3.5 weeks I think it is doubtful the season starts on time.
  17. IMHO one of the following 2 outcomes will come true: 1. Stearns Sold High. Binelas destroyed A ball last year. If he comes back down to earth, then I think Stearns acted like a magician and sold high on him. In accordance, the Brewers got rid of JBJ and acquired Renfroe for the equivalent of Lucas Erceg. 2. Binelas is for Real. If this comes to pass then the sox got an everyday 3b for the expense of JBJ's salary. This would be pretty bad news for the Brewers. Who knows what happens. I figured Erceg would blossom and be an everyday MLB 3B.
  18. Possible Boxberger replacement from the scrap heap. Absolutely no downside here.
  19. Never thought I would see this day as a Brewers fan.
  20. Probably the first of many scrap heap bullpen signings.
  21. Wiemer had 29 points, the 38th highest total. Ah yes, you are correct. Still amazing the dude still wasn't sniffing the top 25 and ended up the Brewers minor league hitter of the year.
  22. The Brewers named Joey Weimer their offensive POY this year. Dude hit .295 with a .405 OBP between A and A+. It doesnt appear he received a single vote in the mid-season rankings. If we re-voted today I would have him in the top 10.
  23. Yep. With Hader pithing in the 8th of a game we are losing it is clear Counsel is treating these games like scrimmages to get things ready for the postseason.
