  1. Really cool for some of the guys to step up when needed. Lopez in Game 5 and Middleton/Holiday in Game 6. They catch flak at times, but yet, led the Bucks to the finals without Giannis. Bucks are certainly not a one man team and that certainly showed in that series. That being said, here’s to hoping Giannis is healthy and can play come Game 1 of the finals.
  2. Up to this point, he has missed what? A few days of practice going through plays he has done for years? I mean, if he starts skipping training camp, I get it to a point.
  3. I wonder if his lack of homers is because pitchers aren't giving him much to hit? I checked some stats at the MLB website. Right now he has 42 walks in only 50 games! https://www.mlb.com/stats/walks Doesn’t really make any sense. You don’t go from a slugging % of .671 to barely over .400 because you aren’t getting as many good pitches. Also, MVP Yelich got a bunch of great pitches to hit, but now that he is struggling they are going to challenge him less? Not sure I’d buy that completely. Not sure why he is back to his Miami time power numbers…but I’m sure there are much better explanations than less quality pitches.
  4. Because that is what sports fans do, especially when on a message board. It is no different than questioning a line up or who to sign or anything else for that matter. No one here is an expert about anything we talk about on here. A lot of it is just guessing because the team is going to provide nothing about the injury or timetable to return. If all we did was talk about what we know I would be talking about economics/finance...AKCheesehead would be talking about building igloos and fending off polar bears, so on...
  5. After last night is it possible a team entirely without Giannis is better than a team with a 50% or whatever Giannis? Kinda like what people thought when Harden came back and the first game a forum member could have been better? I wouldn't even consider using him in Game 6 unless he feels near 100%. Of course in Game 7 the Bucks would never subject themselves to potential elimination with Giannis on the bench if he has any ability to play. I am guessing they would rather die with Giannis on the court versus holding him out if he 'could' play.
  6. I use the same logic on my wife. For instance I’d talk up a Traeger to the point where she gets the feeling I’m going to buy it regardless of her opinion (I wouldn’t) and then I’ll smack her with the idea of the $600 Char-Griller. She will think she is getting an incredible 50% off deal and would pretty much push me in the car to go get it. Sometimes I feel like a slimy car salesman…almost.
  7. I recall them saying during the game he was practicing/testing it prior to the game. Did they show or elaborate on what exactly he was doing? I didn't actually put the game on the TV till the 3rd Q so I missed, what I imagine, was the in depth talk in the pre-game.
  8. I think we get a bit tired going into the break (5-6), but we will be refreshed coming out. We also get a lot of off days that should really help our main strength, pitching (9-4). Overall: 14-10
  9. Great game for Lopez. With Giannis out he is the guy you’d expect and need to step up…he did that tonight to say the least.
  10. So the key to a hot start is not starting Giannis, WOAH SOLVDD
  11. How much did this cost you, if you don't mind me asking? The top sections of our driveway are cracked all over the place, primarily because we did #1 about 10 years ago and the mud they used eventually settled, coupled with a heavy vehicle parked on it. It is a pain to shovel. We have a paver brick front walk and want it replaced along with the top part of the driveway. Concrete is about $6 a square foot for nothing but basic…no design etc. Then consider there might be a slight charge for removal of any brick/concrete that you want gone. Of course things can vary depending on location
  12. They deferred his entire salary over a decade into the future, that’s a bit different than deferring a few million from each year. It was also going to take 35 years to get all his money. It’s an extreme case because the Mets were under the impression they were essentially going to make money off the deal by not paying him for 10-35 years. Today’s contracts are just built to look simpler. I’m sure any players agent has a finance guy to run the numbers for deferrals to see what it’s “today’s value” is to compare it to a competing offer without deferrals. There was a recent mega FA that got some borderline insanity offer that included massive deferrals and complicated language. Bryce Harper? I almost feel like it was even more recent though. I recall the deal being more money, but the deferrals were so large the lesser deal he took was actually the better financial offer.
  13. Even on Bonilla's end it isn't a total genius of a contract. If he would have just gotten $6mil in 2000 it would have probably been worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $50mil come 2035 just by being lazy and investing in the SP 500. Though if he invested all his deferrals through the years that might close the gap a bit.
  14. The contract essentially gave Bonilla an 8% return on his money or something around there. Bernie Madoff said he could easily get the Mets owner 10-15%. So essentially Madoff was like, "Not only can we defer this money down the road I can MAKE you money on it too!" Of course if you trusted Madoff with your money back then your returns were, non existent. Of course that is hindsight and at the time it made perfect sense for the Mets to pull the trigger and do that type of deal.
  15. A dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow...simple as that. Teams employ smart people and have financial resources to figure out it all out. Well...except the Mets back in the day. Even Bonilla's made sense in theory at the time. The problem was the fact their infamous financial guy wasn't so honest and it wasn't as good as he made it sound.
  16. The Brewers have been awarded a national telecast on a Sunday. The July 25th game against the White Sox has been moved to 6:08 PM.
  17. If we are depending on a defining moment from Bud, I am off to Vegas to bet on the Hawks. Because I don't see anything changing. If Bud had it in him he would have done it in Game 4 when the Hawks were without Young and we should have crushed them through the crust of the earth. Instead we played from behind the entire game. Instead his team came out like the game barely mattered.
  18. Yesterday the question popped into my head if NCAA athletes were previously forbidden from doing OnlyFans. Outside of the name/likeness questionable part of it, probably not because I think it is considered social media. That was definitely not allowed. That is where some of these players, notably women, will make a ton. Olivia Dunne has massive followings on TikTok/Instagram. I am guessing she can easily transform that into six figures a year now.
  19. You think Alabama or Ohio State doesn’t have a booster willing to pay 5x more, quite optimistic of you. I predict the the top earner will not be from a booster or play college football…not even a man. I will put my bet on a woman creating an OnlyFans as the top earner.
  20. I guess you could say, no one is going to be even remotely shocked if they lose. Even if they lost the next two, is anyone really surprised? So I don't think losing is much of a defining moment. Unfortunately they probably need Middleton and Holiday to show up in the same game...which sure doesn't seem like it happens very often in the playoffs this year. When Holiday scored 33 in Game 1, Middleton had 15. When Middleton scored 38 in Game 3, Holiday had 6.
  21. All good, I didn't think you were trying to, that is why I was a little confused. The offense certainly has turned a corner in the last month. At the start of the month you could have questioned if we even had competent players at 1B/SS/3B. Urias had a stellar month, Adames has proven to be a great addition, and Hiura has looked much more competent at the plate. The big three continue to dazzle and don't seem to have any ill effects since losing sticky stuff. Yelich's .844 OPS was also a welcome site. July should be a defining month for this team. Are Hiura/Urias for real? If not how do we fix those positions? Then of course what kind of bullpen reinforcements will we get? I think this team is the NL Central winner and I would have probably said that before the recent sweep of the Cubs. It seems to have so much more talent and is more balanced than anyone else in the division.
  22. The beauty is we still have 3-4 weeks to figure out what Hiura and Urias are. One should be skeptical of Hiura for obvious reasons, but even Urias doesn't really have a track record of success. Urias has had a stellar month, but it wasn't long ago we traded for Adames and Stearns somewhat hinted Urias was going to be a utility guy. If the deadline was today though, we probably wouldn't be adding a major bat at 1B or 3B. I hope it turns out to be that way, but the team is on a big hot streak right now...things can appears rosier than they will be in the long run.
  23. Starting to believe yet? Not sure why you are quoting me. There were multiple people predicting a sub .500 record and many others predicting 15-16 wins.
  24. I think you already answered your own question. If you are staying in the home long term do option 3. Just go with a quality well known company, you will thank yourself in 20+ years.
