Yeah, as soon as they punted that, you knew the game was over. They score there, it's a 5 point game and the Browns likely tighten up. They punted on 4th and 1 with maybe 2 real possessions left in the game at mid-field. I'm not sure what to make of Tomlin...I think people are being a little hard on him, but I don't know what the hell he was thinking tonight. Going for 2 when it didn't make sense but then not going later... The Chiefs SHOULD beat the Browns by about 30, but if Myles and company can pressure Mahomes and the Chiefs keep playing down to their competition, it might be a good game. KC might well do that & should rightfully be favored, but for the 1st time in 2 weeks the entire coaching staff should be back for the Browns (on the sidelines/ in the booth). Very good chance all 3 of Bitonio/ D Ward & K Johnson will be back & available to play for the Browns. Unless more Covid cases emerge in CLE all 10 day periods will be up come mid-week.

Plus Garcia was coming off a MUCH better season, and can play defense. So out of curiosity... What would the Brewers be looking for if they wanted to move Garcia (& reallocate resources)??

It is a light return... I'm curious if getting a few of the pieces will allow CLE to package some parts & move in another direction. BTW - Removing Lindor & Carrasco from the payroll drops the remaining 2021 payroll to 35-40M range -
FYI from JJCooper today (1/5/21) Baseball America @BaseballAmerica The Minor League season at the Double-A and Class-A levels will be delayed in 2021. MLB informed teams in a memo yesterday. Both the Steelers & Browns had a number of players missing today (some for rest, others due to Covid). It will be interesting to see which players are able to return from the covid list for the game next Sunday night... Might even be a determining factor of who wins..

I thought the same thing... Why not get it done right after the season? Surgery is normally looked at as the final option.. If they spent the past 6+ weeks trying other treatments to see if surgery can be avoided, I give them kudos. First for trying other paths & then getting the surgery soon enough to hopefully have him back without much time missed in 2021..

And yet 2 teams can make the playoffs. Make a mockery of the added playoff teams. Tank and get in. Draft high. Maybe luck in upset the Padres or Dodgers in a 3 game series. Seriously want to root for 70s win division winner and wild card team like the NFC East being won at 6 or 7wins. Just in time to bargain a new CBA. Its back to pitchers hitting in the NL & a total of 5 playoff teams for 2021 unless another 1 off agreement is made between the owners & MLBPA...

The 2021 MiLB season was destined to be shortened, first due to the setup changes and then due to covid & precautions being taken as a result. You might recall there was talk about having a staggered spring training where MLB & invites would go first (& go thru completion) before the minor league camp would even start. In the past the minor league camp would get underway during the 1st week of March (so during MLB spring training) and some milb players would shuttle back n forth between the camps/ games being played IF the MLB season gets pushed back, the MiLB season is sure to follow. seeing that mlb rosters no longer expand to 40 in september, wouldn't it make sense to have minor league seasons go a little bit deeper into september--or at least for class aaa teams? how do reserve players stay in shape while the major league season is still continuing. . . lifting fedex parcels? Keep in mind that MLB does not like ANY OTHER BASEBALL news to interfere with the post-season & World Series. So that would mean any minor league post-season would be completed BEFORE the MLB playoffs would begin. Those teams in the various milb post-seasons would be playing during September (& most leagues have 2 rounds of post-season)..

Wow.... The stock of Francisco Mejia has fallen bigtime since 2016/ 2018... In '16 he would have been the main package piece for the vetoed Lucroy deal.. In '18 he netted Brad Hand & Adam Cimber... now he is 1 of 2 catchers in a 4 player package for Blake Snell...

I was catching up on a Tribe podcast this morning (while shoveling snow) & heard 2 info nuggets that will have some impact to the Brewers: 1) complex (AZ/FL) teams are being limited to 1 per ball club & 2) Tribe is not sharing a DSL team with MKE this upcoming season as the Tribe will be having 2 teams on its own.. I have no idea if MKE will be fielding a 2nd DSL team on its own or sticking with 1 club only...

I'm doubting Zimmerman plays for any team other than the Nats.. I'll seen a few posts on other sites suggesting that the Nats might use Zimmerman/ Bell as a platoon (with Bell vs the lefties)...

Its clear the Wisconsin (& all the Big 10 teams actually) could use the additional practice time afforded by going to a bowl game. That said, I am surprised the Mayo Bowl was not one of the many bowl games to get cancelled this year. I'm surprised more than 10 bowl games are being played. Beyond that the games should be cancelled for safety reasons but all schools should be afforded 11 more practice days (with full pads) for player development
