  1. Todd Coffey isn't good. The Brewers really only have three good relievers at this point. Of course, some teams don't even have that many... Edit: I guess I'd say four pretty good ones, but still.
  2. Why is the ground rule double rule never called? If the runner would have scored the ump is supposed to give him the run, yet I've literally never seen it called.
  3. Boom goes the dynamite. Well done.
  4. Alright so is there reason for me to start getting excited that Arnett is still there? I really only know what I read here, but people seem to love him. Do we expect the Brewers to take him if he's there?
  5. I could get on board with Randy Johnson as well. I think you're likely to get the most bang for your buck there because as you said he'd cost less than other guys because of his age. I was actually hoping the Brewers could sign him in the off-season.
  6. You beat me to the punch on this. Macha over Yost has probably been as big of an addition as Hoffman. He routinely puts relievers in favorable situations. A complete 180 from Yost.
  7. Zing! I'm not sure how I feel about Andy Richter as the announcer. The podium off to the side like that just seems awkward. It just seems strange for the main "sidekick" not to be a member of a band or something so they don't just stand there when they aren't talking.
  8. The best way to say it would have been, "He has given up a run every time he's pitched" instead of "He gives up a run every time he pitches."
  9. Sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but I didn't catch the broadcast last night or see it anywhere in the JS... But what's the word on Cameron's knee? I imagine it's not thought to be serious?
  10. I disagree and think it's misleading. I thought the same thing. "He gives up runs every time he comes up and pitches" makes it sound like that's what will happen every time he pitches IMO. It reminds me of the "The Brewers lose every time Chris Capuano pitches!" thing from a couple years ago.
  11. I've been telling everyone all off-season to watch out for Rickie Weeks and Mark DiFelice. I apparently have the kiss of death. Great. This would be a big loss if it's at all serious.
  12. The Brewers have a huge edge in the starting pitching matchup today, so a sweep should be expected. Not to beat the dead horse, but I'm really hoping we see Gamel back in there today. Since it's a Sunday lineup, I half expect to see Gerut in center or right as well.
  13. Macha is deferring to Hall's big career numbers, but I don't see why the Brewers refuse to play Hall at second. I agree that if Gamel is up he should be playing third, especially against righties.
  14. But he hasn't solved AAA pitching yet, so why take offense to his point? All he said was his line isn't good, and it isn't.
  15. Razzzor, pretty sure you were going for an Arrested Development reference there? Because that one from GOB is a great one.
  16. Another common misconception is that Ben Sheets was overpaid or didn't earn his contract. He was actually very underpaid. How many of the booing Brewer fans would admit that? This value is according to fangraphs. 2005 Salary 6 mil, Value 12.7 mil 2006 Salary 9.6 mil, Value 14.7 mil 2007 Salary 11.1, Value 9.4 2008 Salary 12.1, Value 20.6
  17. Penny wouldn't be a terrible addition, but I just think the Brewers will look at several other better pitchers before they look at him.
  18. I don't know if I'd be upset by offering him 4/70 necessarily, but it wouldn't be a slam dunk in my eyes. The way it's backloaded makes it a huge risk. That 2013 amount of 22 million is a huge burden. He's had nagging injury issues creep up the last couple years, and his fastball is already down a couple ticks. He's already seen his best days. He's still young, but so was Ben Sheets when the Brewers re-signed him. If fans thought Sheets was overpaid (wasn't at all), they could end up despising Peavy. Sheets was good enough to still be worth 10 mil or more when he was injured for partial seasons, but at an average of 17 mil per season Peavy will need to stay healthy.
  19. I don't understand why the Brewers don't target a pitcher without a gigantic contract? There will likely be number 2/3 type pitchers available that they could get for a similar package to a Peavy trade. Picture Peavy as a free agent this offseason. Wouldn't you be iffy on offering him $70 mil over four years? I know I would, and that's without giving up a bunch of good talent.
  20. Everything I've read shows it's pretty impossible to bring back CV, Sessions and sign a first rounder. I figure Villanueva is gone. He's a nice player to have, but he's not really a building block so it's not the end of the world. As has been mentioned, the Bucks simply have to start drafting better.
  21. Holliday is already out of his slump. He has an .890 OPS the last 28 days. He should be fine, and the A's should be able to get something solid for him at the deadline if they decide the want to move him. That said, I prefer the Brewers go after a pitcher as opposed to A) Another rental player and B) a hitter.
  22. Just curious, but with the 11 beers, what was the point of the one soda?
  23. Yes, I understand, and I'd love for them to somehow get rid of that contract (just don't see it happening). But you said nobody ranks Redd as a top 50 player, which just isn't true. Obviously you don't, but there seem to be many here who do. You named a little over 30 and there's already a couple on the last who I'm not sure I'd take over Redd talent-wise. I don't think you could come up with 50 and get very many people to agree they're all better than Redd.
  24. Yeah, but that's not the argument they're making. In fact, it kind of proves their point because they're saying people let Redd's bad contract affect how they see him as a player. Nobody said Redd was worth the money he's getting, just that he's still a good player.
