  1. DiFelice also made it because of his success in Milwaukee last year in limited innings along with good minor league numbers. Jorge Julio has nine lives. He's somehow managed to make it through another series.
  2. No they couldn't name Beckham right now, but like you said he could be a PTBNL. But Gammons' report said he wasn't included, so I assume that's correct.
  3. I realize the Brewers wouldn't take on the full 5.5 mil, but three mil is still quite a bit to add if you're still planning on adding a good starting pitcher. To me, that's a much bigger need than a second baseman.
  4. A bit surprising the White Sox didn't need to give up Gordon Beckham. Depending on the other two players aside from Richard and Poreda, it might not be too bad.
  5. DeRosa makes 5.5 mil this year, which is too much money. The Brewers don't have much payroll flexibility, and I'm sure they'd rather save it to add a pitcher.
  6. I don't see how Delgado is tougher to replace than Weeks. Delgado's only value is in hitting, and Weeks has been a better hitter than Delgado this season. Weeks also brings value in defense and baserunning where Delgado does not.
  7. Well Dave Winfield just told me the Mets losing Carlos Delgado is a bigger loss than the Brewers losing Weeks, so it must not be that bad.
  8. His quotes are great, and the exchange with Edinson Volquez was funny too.
  9. Wow, that would be hilarious. I'd love to see that.
  10. This will probably be very similar to Snakes on a Plane. Seeing that in theaters was one of the funnest experiences, because it was completely unlike any other movie. People talking, laughing and cheering throughout the movie.
  11. It's also nice to have a reliever he gets a ton of strike calls that aren't strikes, since we're usually on the other side of that facing Marmol so much. Hoffman really has gotten some borderline calls this season.
  12. I have been telling every non-Brewers baseball fan about DiFelice to the point that I'm sure it's annoying, but he's really made me look smart (at least in this case). He has one unintentional walk on the season... Absurd! I think I'm a bit torn on making him a starter, though. Can he really be good enough as a starter to be more valuable than the lights-out setup man he's become? Especially since his low velocity seems to allow him to throw so often? I wouldn't be opposed to making him a starter, but I'd probably turn to Dillard first when they get their first injured starting pitcher, and maybe even McClung. McClung is one guy who I feel more comfortable with as a starter than a reliever, because he's had better control in that role. 4.7 BB/9 as a starter, 6.7 BB/9 as a reliever.
  13. I thought the same thing about Gammons. He was just making excuses and sounded sorry for Ramirez. It was sad.
  14. Not sure if this totally belongs here, but I just wanted to mention that the ball he hit in the first inning was the hardest ball I've seen hit all year. It reached the wall without ever getting more than 15 feet off the ground, and almost got out. He's really hitting the ball hard right now.
  15. Baseball Info Solutions records infielder position, at least to an extent. Not for every play, but when Ortiz/Dunn/whoever hits into an exaggerated shift, the positioning is noted.
  16. Wow, it's gone? Really? That sort of makes me sad.
  17. Here's the scenario. You're at a store and there's a couple registers open with long lines. A third register opens up and the cashier says, "I can help someone over here." A person just walking up jumps in ahead of people who've been waiting and gets the immediate checkout. That's happened twice in the last month, and it bugs me.
  18. Sounds like I need to find myself a wife.
  19. I liked it better than the pilot as well. Tom was great this episode, and there were the other parts mentioned, but I agree that Amy Poehler is just way too much like Michael Scott.
  20. To me this is a chicken-egg thing. I'd probably argue the best way to hit for power is by learning to lay off bad pitches so you get better pitches to drive.
  21. I got one as a gift and it's great. I think the brand is Magellan, but unfortunately I'm not sure of the cost. I suggest getting one that says the name of the road, in other words "Turn left up ahead on Main Street" instead of "Turn left up ahead."

    Philly

Well I've been to Wrigley with Brewer stuff on, so hopefully this won't be too much worse. Philly fans obviously have that reputation though. Independence Hall sounds good to me; hopefully it's not too far. Thanks.

I'm going to the games on Wednesday and Thursday. I've never been to Philadelphia, and I'm wondering if anyone here who's been to the stadium and/or surrounding area has any advice? Good places to park for the game? Good places to eat? Things I should see or do while I'm there? Thanks!
  24. Hardy doesn't make sense for the Padres because they'll only have him a couple years, plus he's not cheap. They'll want a young cheap guy they can control for a long time. Escobar makes much more sense for them than Hardy.
