  1. I agree that Hardy is right around average to slightly above average. Tulo is in the top tier in my eyes too.
  2. Probably for another thread, but why not? The Giants have no offense to build around. Lincecum, sure, he's not going anywhere. I can definitely see Cain going for three or four players though. They have needs everywhere.
  3. You're probably right, and if that's the case, then so be it. I hate the idea of moving one of those two or Jeffress for two months of a pitcher, no matter how good he is.
  4. Sweet, I imagine I'll run into at least 100 berniebrewer4life lookalikes. I'll be at Alkaline Trio.
  5. I am going to Summerfest tonight and was fully prepared to bite the bullet and spring for the $15 ticket. Twenty minutes ago a coworker sent out an email announcing he has one Summerfest ticket he isn't going to use--first come, first serve. I booked it over there and got the ticket, just seconds ahead of two other people. Munny!
  6. It's going to be a great month. 17-10 with a new pitcher coming in within a couple weeks. Also, I can't believe the Cubs have any games left against Pittsburgh.
  7. And emptied your farm for two guys: one you control for two months, the other you control for 1.5 seasons. When Sabathia leaves, and if Sheets leaves, you have nothing to help you acquire pitching.
  8. I disagree with that. Two top prospects are worth a lot more than two high draft picks, because high draft picks aren't a sure thing to become good MLB prospects, much less MLB players. For example, Gamel and Salome are worth a lot more than two comp picks. As far as Burnett is concerned, I'd be worried that he would not opt out of his deal and the Brewers might be stuck with his contract for next season if he's no good. I don't think he's that good; he walks too many guys.
  9. I'd react to that deal with the fury of a thousand suns. I'm not convinced they should give up LaPorta or Gamel, much less one of their major league starters in addition. He's a two month rental! If they're moving any of those guys, it should be for someone like Greinke, Cain, etc.
  10. To me, it holds more water when evaluating managers than pitchers. Wins/Losses can sometimes give you an indication, but when I want to evaluate a pitcher, I don't even consider W/L. That season by Carlton is just unreal.
  11. I really hope you're not trying to insinuate what I think you are insinuating... Reading that again, I think I may have, uh, insinuated what you insuated...? I really just meant that Braun is getting a free pass because the Brewers started his campaign earlier, yet I don't feel he deserves to go any more than Fielder does (at least before this road trip). Fielder was probably deserving before this road trip, and Braun may have been, but now I don't think either are. Braun's now down to an .848 OPS, behind the likes of our very own Corey Hart. I still think their only deserving all-star is Ben Sheets, with maybe Sal Torres on the cusp, but I'm definitely in the minority there.
  12. Wow, great play Rivera! And Mota is really bad. He was very lucky to get out of that. DFA Mota!
  13. Suppan has 53 strikeouts and 41 walks with a 1.55 whip entering tonight, and those numbers only got worse. Hard to argue that's anything but bad.
  14. I don't think the Indians have to move Sabathia at all. If they don't get a deal they like, they'll just keep him and take the two draft picks for him. Washington did this a few years back with Soriano, for example.
  15. You wouldn't trade Prince and LuCroy for Felix Hernandez? I'd be shocked if Seattle accepted that.
  16. I hope Doug remembers this. I'd really hate to lose Gamel, LaPorta or Jeffress for a rental...
  17. No. Prince just played his way out of the all-star game and all it took was 7 bad games. Yikes, he sure did. Guess I jinxed him or something. Of course, Braun has plummeted since then too, but for some reason that doesn't seem to affect him the same way...
  18. To me, this isn't about Gagne vs. DiFelice as much as Stetter vs. DiFelice. I agree with giving Gagne one more chance, but why would they demote DiFelice over Stetter? Is having a second lefty really worth getting rid of the better pitcher?
  19. This umpire has the worst strike zone in a Brewers game all season. Two identical pitches, one's a strike, one's a ball. Terrible pitches are strikes, good pitches are balls. It's like there's no rhyme or reason to it.
  20. Way to stand by your ace Ned when the game's out of reach and he's cashed. Take him out!
  21. What is the point in keeping Sheets in here? He's already thrown plenty of pitches, and it's not like he's dealing.
  22. You sure seem to have a knack for twisting and exaggerating people's words. People say Inman doesn't have a high ceiling, and you turn that into a "scrub." People say they'd like Braun's OBP to be higher, and you claim they said he "stinks." Why can't you just address what people are actually saying rather than twisting others' words to make your stance look correct?
  23. Is there a big difference in value right now between Gordon and Gamel? I see Gordon as more valuable than Gamel because you know he can play third, and Gordon should still be a good hitter. Even if you see Gordon/Gamel as a wash, then this becomes Salome/Jeffress/A ball pitcher for Greinke. I don't think KC goes for that.
