  1. I was eating a sandwich when BA said that and I almost choked. Then I was crying when Bill said a good WHIP is "somewhere between 1 and 1.5."
  2. Man, no kidding. I remember a few years ago there was a thread about Marte and people felt he was a can't miss, MVP-type stud. I don't really see how the Brewers are more of a contender than Cleveland at this point, and I'd rather target someone the Brewers could control for a few seasons--particularly if they're giving up LaPorta or Gamel.
  3. Neither has good plate discipline, both have arm strength as their main defensive asset and both are struggling mightily right now offensively. Neither is making the case that they should be kept around long term this season. I'll take Hardy on defense, and offensively it's kind of a pick your poison right now. It's a big concern, because I don't see how Escobar will hit enough to be a full time MLB starter. If he is, he certainly won't be more than an average starter at short.
  4. 40th worst is pretty bad, but since the collapse came in July/August instead of September, it's probably overlooked and honestly, less painful. I went to bed with the Cubs down 3-1 and was very angry to see they won. I can't ever root for them. That said, San Diego's not going to contend for the wildcard more than likely, so I have no qualms rooting for them the next couple games. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Yikes, what an ugly game, but exciting wins are fun I guess. Heck of a job by Torres. There were two or three times when Branyan should have been pinch hitting, so that was frustrating. At the same time, I was shocked when Snyder squared with two strikes.
  6. Man, incredibly lucky that they miss Webb and Haren. Less than 2 of 3 would be a disappointment.
  7. I guess I'll be "rooting" for Boston. I don't care much at all who wins, but I like Allen and Garnett. I think the Lakers will win in six though.
  8. I'd like to trade Suppan after this season. It won't be possible to do it now because of the NTC. His salary goes up quite a bit next year, so I imagine the Brewers would have to eat a few mil.
  9. If you're going to dock him for one game-full of strikeouts, you probably need to acknowledge his 1.163 OPS so far this season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I suppose today wasn't the worst, but he does that all the time. Even today, if he would have stayed home, Weeks would have had it pretty easily because it was hit slowly. Edit: And I just realized this may have been the point you were making, but if he wasn't ranging that far, he should have been able to get to the ball.
  11. Today, Prince once again pulled what I like to call "A Prince." That is, ranging way too far to his right for a ground ball that would have otherwise been a routine grounder to second. It leaves nobody at first, and occasionally makes for a dangerous collision at first base (like today).
  12. My friend student teaches, and her school was part of the S.C.O.R.E. program yesterday. Guess which Brewer they got? Yep, Branyan. Luckyyyyyy!
  13. Really? You don't think that's extremely dangerous for pitchers? Not to mention all statistics would need to be re-sorted. I've actually heard more rumblings about banning metal bats in high school and particularly college.
  14. I disagree with this. From what I've seen, he doesn't even do that many baseball games. I see him much more during football season, and watching football highlights becomes unbearable.
  15. Not like I have any inside info, but I'd be willing to be a substantial amount of money that Prince's struggles are due something with his approach/mechanics at the plate as opposed to his diet.
  16. The polish would wear off Kapler after about a week of starting.
  17. Why does Ned intentionally walk Jones? Why does he leave in McClung so long? And why does he continue to double switch out Corey Hart?
  18. I'm somewhat surprised Yost doesn't have the forfeit lineup out there on the day game. I also would like to add that I have no idea what to expect in this game with two unproven starters.
  19. Well you turn that around and say, "You think the Rays are that poorly managed that they wouldn't trade for a great young hitter when they have the best record in baseball?" I agree that they probably wouldn't do it, but it's not like the Brewers would be trying to send them prospects for Kazmir.
  20. Is it just me, or did that interview with his father give off a pretty strong impression? All the "we're going to be great" type sentences where he lumped himself in with his son. And why is his father giving an exclusive interview in the first place? He seems like the type of guy who would cause trouble if his kid didn't get "enough" playing time.
  21. Man, I saw some rough games last season. The Bush-Hudson game, the A-Ram game at Wrigley and the Yost-Aquino-Pence game. Ugh. Unfortunately I just don't see many other options either. I imagine Bush will be in the rotation for the rest of the year, mainly because they have nobody else who is even decent.
  22. Wow, he sounds like a left-handed Braun.
  23. Sure, but if the Giants openly put any of those pitchers on the block, they'd find a much better offer elsewhere.
  24. Sheets would be the best player available at the deadline and the best player in free agency if the Brewers don't sign him. They should try like hell to get an extension worked out right now IMO. If they find that Sheets wants to test FA and the Brewers are more than seven or eight games out, I imagine he'd be traded for a nice haul. That Colon deal was brutal for Montreal. Was he in his walk year when that went down?
