  1. I'm not saying Oswalt isn't good, I was just saying that his numbers have been slightly declining for a couple years (he is off to a poor start this year as well) and I don't trust him with that small frame to not decline even more over the next few years. I don't think I'd give up Laporta for him.
  2. I know Oswalt's contract is not bad by itself, but considering you'd have to give up three top prospects I'm not sure I want him. I don't think Oswalt's close to top 10 anymore. Just perusing through some stats, here are guys I'd prefer over Oswalt: Webb Haren Santana Peavy Sabathia Carmona Verlander Kazmir Beckett Lackey Harang Wang Shields Matsuzaka McGowan Even guys with injury issues like Bedard and Sheets have been better than Oswalt when they are healthy, and younger guys like Gallardo, Lincecum, etc. may pass him soon. Oswalt's more like top 25. He really had a pedestrian season last year.
  3. A couple years ago in La Crosse people were sure there was a killer disguised as a police officer. This is the first I've heard of the smiley faces, but definitely not the first conspiracy theory.
  4. I like the pitchers the Brewers have throwing, but I'm concerned about tonight. I'm worried about Sheets in the cold-ish weather, and I don't expect him to be sharp. I'll just be happy if he gets through the start pain-free.
  5. If you'd bring up to the majors straight from AA after a full year, why wouldn't you want to move him to AAA for half a season first?
  6. Considering the contract and what the Brewers would have to give up, I don't even think I'd want Oswalt. His K rate is in decline and he's not nearly as good as he was five years ago. He's still solid, but I'm not sure he's an "ace" anymore, and it's only reasonable to expect a decline to continue.
  7. Not sure they could have gotten Haren without giving up Laporta. I still don't see a reasonable option for an ace-type pitcher that is more attractive than trying to re-sign Sheets (I realize this is mainly about acquiring an ace for this season, but still).
  8. Ok I will tonight. SituationalLefty
  9. Great, thanks.
  10. This I don't agree with. They aren't struggling because they're trying to hit home runs; they're struggling because they're swinging at bad pitches (generalized). There's nothing wrong with trying to hit home runs, because sometimes you get a home run out of it.
  11. Ennder, can I ask how you were able to find that information? That's good stuff.
  12. I think it will be very close, but if you made me choose I'd go with Cameron. He's finally out of a pitcher's park and he takes walks much more than Hart does.
  13. Yeah, he does this as well as any manager. I've never seen someone totally use and abuse an opposing manager the way he did to Yost last season.
  14. Fukudome is hitting like a HOFer right now. He's good, but I don't expect that to continue. Unfortunately, I think Derek Lee's April is legit, as the last couple years he was hampered by that wrist injury.
  15. I went to UW-L, so I'm mostly familiar with the ones there in recent years. In those cases they had extremely high BACs.
  16. I recently bought PS3 and started playing online yesterday. I beat the Padres and Jake Peavy controlled by a guy who was 18-8 with Ben Sheets, so that was a lot of fun. I get the feeling I'll be playing online a lot.
  17. No, because co-eds with blonde hair are not nearly as likely to drink themselves in a stupor, insist they are fine and wander off on their own as "macho, manly" athletes are.
  18. http://ford.pro-motors.ru/content/_large/ford-1091-1.jpg Teal '94 Ford Tempo. This isn't the one I had, but it looked just like this; the teal was just hilarious. It shook whenever it got over 65. I drove it until repairs cost more than it was worth. I believe I "sold" it to a garage for $75.
  19. I'm not sure I'll get it, as I'm debating whether the GTA concept is a little stale. I'm interested to know what others think of it though.
  20. I'm guessing it's because Counsell is the only one.
  21. Hart is no more likely than Cameron to have a better OBP. It doesn't really matter which one hits second or fifth to me.
  22. McClung won't be pitching many high-leverage innings once the inordinate amount of extra inning games slows down. Off day tomorrow before the return of Ben Sheets, Bullpen Saver.
  23. I support this idea. Having Branyan here makes up for losing Gross.
  24. Cameron will be returning just in time, because I've had just about enough of Kapler batting second. He did a great job for a couple weeks, but then he got injured and his return to Earth appears to have come about a week early.
