  1. It should be noted that Dykstra has had a very good season and may now be the best prospect of anyone involved in this trade.
  2. Typos and whatever don't bother me too much, but the writing is a different story. That sentence that Russ posted is practically nonsensical, and you see that type of thing from Witrado fairly regularly.
  3. Andre Dawson never should have made the HOF. If Braun had his career I'd be disappointed.
  4. Wow. I see it's really only a two year extension, as it includes next year when he was under contract anyway. I really like that. They're on the hook for three total years instead of four.
  5. Three years is nice and short. Can't really complain about this one. I agree that if they're set on moving Gamel from third, I'd like to see Lawrie to third and Weeks extended. Ideally Braun would go to 1B, but I don't expect that to happen.
  6. I don't like the idea of firing Macha. There's a good chance that just by random luck the team will play better, and then I'd be afraid Randolph or Sveum would be retained beyond this year. I don't want either of them as the next manager.
  7. This is annoying. McGehee should be the one moved off third base.
  8. [quote author=X ellence wrote: [/b] Do you think the Brewers next GM would like Sanchez? Just because you think Melvin should be fired (not necessarily saying he shouldn't) doesn't mean he will. I'll be shocked if Mark A fires him.
  9. The Rangers became a win-now team when they traded for Lee. It would make sense for them to go all out and acquire Fielder. I'm still guessing Fielder won't be moved. People don't seem willing to offer a great deal now. If that's the case, they should just hold on to him. The last thing I want to see is a Haren-type return.
  10. Very sad news. Ben is my favorite Brewer of all time. An absolutely awesome pitcher who was criminally underrated during his prime.
  11. That may not necessarily be the case. He just may not be getting good offers. I'd rather have him wait and hope the offers improve in the off-season than to just take an underwhelming return just because it was the best current offer.
  12. I always kind of liked the midnight deadline. It was fun to stay up and watch. Not practical, sure.... But entertaining for me, anyway.
  13. All I was criticizing was this idea that winning the next two games should change the team's direction entirely.
  14. True, but I'm not angry that they might not trade Hart or Fielder. Like others, I don't want them to trade just to trade. I'm angry that it sounds like they could decide to take them off the market if they win these next two games.
  15. Rosenthal just tweeted that the Brewers are waiting until after the next two games with Cincinnati to decide on any deals. Why am I not surprised at all by such stupid logic? Even if they sweep the Reds they'll still have extremely long odds of making the playoffs. Terrible.
  16. The Brewers aren't on the fringe of the hunt. Making the playoffs this season would be one of the biggest turnarounds in history. You absolutely cannot be a buyer when that's what it would take. PECOTA has the Brewers with a 0.7% chance at the playoffs.
  17. I didn't. I just was saying that there would be plenty of teams willing to top this offer. Haren definitely could have restricted their options... But then again, if that was the case, you'd think that would have come out by now.
  18. Can we temporarily delete this thread for the sake of the organization?
  19. I bet there would be at least ten teams willing to top this offer, including the Brewers.
  20. Ugh. Just terrible timing for Hart to get injured. This seems to be a wasted season.
  21. Come on Kenny Williams... Stay crazy.
  22. It's certainly worth shopping him around to see if he has good value. He might not yet.
  23. The Brewers need to do something about their atrocious team defense. Out of their many bad defenders, McGehee is the worst offensive player relative to his position (omitting Escobar, who gets a long leash). His best fit is on a team hurting for offense but good enough defensively to account for his terrible range. Basically, the Brewers' opposite. He should be traded.
  24. If Boras manages to make Howard the benchmark, Prince will get more. He's both younger and better than Howard. The Phillies gave him just an awful contract.
  25. Of course, by bunting, his best case scenario is a single. He has home run power, so I don't like him bunting too much.
