  1. Infante thought he was being traded when Frank Wren called to tell him me made the team. That tells it all.
  2. I pine for his defense in the corners after watching our current corner OFs.
  3. Brendan Ryan looks like Freddie Mercury. BA talking about how "the Cardinals think he'll hit." He's 28 years old and hasn't hit yet...
  4. Man. Ridnour is going to get five freaking years.
  5. That's my biggest issue. I lurk at realgm a few times a year, and really appreciate the very knowledgeable posters there, but so much of it is filled with condescension and hyperbole that I eventually lose my patience and get tired of sifting through it all. I'm not excited about the Gooden deal either, but many of the posters there reacted similarly to drafting Jennings, signing Delfino, letting Sessions walk, and signing Stackhouse. All ended up being good to great moves.
  6. They're not going to trade anyone. I just have this sinking feeling they'll make more Felipe Lopez-type moves and keep everyone else.
  7. Why wouldn't Brett Cecil be a solid target? I'd certainly rather have him over Marcum. Cecil is 23, a former high pick, very good minor league numbers, and in a small sample this season has 60 ks to 20 BBs.
  8. With the White Sox hot streak, not only does it take a competitor to Fielder of the market (Konerko), it could actually add a buyer in the White Sox themselves. Couple that with Prince's home run binge getting his trade value back up (shouldn't have been too low anyway), and there could be real opportunities.
  9. Sorry. I like Lucroy from what I've seen but I wasn't really counting him because he just came up.
  10. The only plus defenders on the team are Gomez and Counsell. Terrible defense is the biggest reason the team is bad. It's painful to watch.
  11. This really made my day. I haven't watched a second of Leno, and I'm glad to hear many others haven't either.
  12. Normally I would say the Giants would never give up Bumgarner, but they did trade Alderson for freaking Freddy Sanchez, so who knows. I wouldn't expect it though.
  13. Still, Braun has a .316 OBP the last 30 days. At the very least, he's in a pretty bad slump.
  14. I'm also not upset about Bush being removed from the rotation. He's no longer an MLB quality starting pitcher. His velocity and strikeouts are way down, and his walks are way up. Either he's injured in some way or just regressing hard.
  15. Umpires miss 10-15% of ball/strike calls. It's become so noticeable the last few seasons since this technology has existed. The sooner we have an electronic strike zone, the better.
  16. I'm trying to figure out how on Earth Escobar is third.
  17. Agree with all the thoughts on Davey. Every game I almost forget he's there because sometimes he'll literally go a couple minutes without saying a word. It's to the point that Provus actually brings him into the conversation. "Well Davey, would you say that..."
  18. Remember to wear your seersucker suit (no matter the temperature), and make sure your girlfriend brings her giant Kentucky Derby-style hat to go with her bright spring dress. You must be respectful to the opponent, so stand each time a Cardinal hitter comes up to bat. Remain standing until the walk-up song is turned off. Always be conscious of the volume of your voice and your body language. Should a Brewer player strike someone out, hit a home run, or make an impressive defensive play, it is acceptable to quickly stand, clap lightly 3-5 times, and even give a small nod before promptly sitting back down. On the off chance the Brewers actually win the game, smiling is permissible, but make sure to stare straight ahead and avoid any eye contact with any Cardinal fan whatsoever. Should you see any other Brewer fans, it is acceptable to stop, give a firm handshake, and begin walking briskly again. Sorry, I've never been to STL, so can't really tell you what else to do there. I hear the zoo is nice.
  19. Totally thought of The Pink Panther also. What great movies. I find it incredible that someone is able to pull off a burglary like this in present day.
  20. I have OOTP 10. It sounds like there are still way too many middle relievers. Do you know the reason for this? Almost all pitchers begin as starters right when they're drafted. That's honestly probably my biggest complaint about the game, which I think is great otherwise.
  21. We would've had to tank last year to get Bryce Harper. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Wow yeah, total brain cramp. Darn, now there's no upside to being this bad.
  22. I can't stand watching Gallardo. He's wasting his talent the last two seasons. The walks are beyond frustrating. I compare him to Braun when he hacked at everything a couple years ago. Good, but could be so much better.
  23. I'm not crazy about Macha (at all), but I think some here may either be caught up in the current frustrations or just forgot how bad Ned was in 2008. Horrendous bullpen management, ignoring platoon stats, getting caught up in detrimental beanball wars, snapping at harmless questions (not that it matters how a manager handles the media, except it showed he was on edge). He couldn't handle the pressure of managing a good team. Sure, there won't be pressure in Kansas City, but what's the point then? I'd take Macha, or just about anyone, over Yost in a heartbeat.
  24. This makes me think of the Dusty Baker quote about Norris Hopper from a few years ago talking about how the ball has a special sound when he hits it. Found it: "Boy, [Norris Hopper] can hit that ball hard. He's a strong little dude. The ball made a loud sound. I use my ears a lot. I can tell what kind of bat speed [he] has by that sound.
