The splits aside, my point is that Gavin Floyd is not a number 1 or 2 starter and won't ever be. He's a number 3. He's good at times, and not so good at others. He's seen by Sox fans and those that cover the team to not have the top of rotation makeup that other guys on that team possess. That's not my observation, but that of those that follow the Sox closely. 2010 AL Ranks26th in ERA 11th in xFIP12th in WAR 2009 AL Ranks22nd in ERA8th in xFIP8th in WAR Floyd is at worst a strong number 2 starter. He's was far better than anyone on the Brewers in 2009, and only Yo compared to him in 2010. I care about that much more than how he's "seen by Sox fans."
