  1. Is anyone else completely stunned they got him for this cheap? He's a great reliever... Better than Gagne was when they gave him one year, 10 mil... And I defended that contract. What an awesome off-season.
  2. Ted Davis and Matt LePay are outstanding. Davis is funny and sarcastic, and does a great job on the road games by himself. I love LePay's excitement; I don't find it to be over the top at all. It seems genuine. I love Homer's show, but I'm not sure it translates to play-by-play. I like Larrivee, but I think Larry McCarren is great. He can tell you what was going on in the offensive line immediately after a play ends.
  3. A 3.8 ERA from the rotation seems like insanity considering what they've had the last few years.
  4. I think the Braves will be better than the Cardinals. I don't expect the Cardinals to make the playoffs.
  5. Not saying I disagree, but it sure seems like we're asking this question every season.
  6. That's really expensive for a rotation that is merely "solid."
  7. IMO, if the team doesn't look like it could reasonably win 90, there's not much of a point in hanging on to Fielder. The 87 win mark is the "true talent" level. Or, if we played the season through 100 times, we'd average 87 wins provided we stay healthy. We could win 82 games or 92 games next year.Right, but a rotation of Yo-Marcum-Wolf-Blanton-Narveson doesn't make the Brewers an 87-win talent level team. Probably more like 83.
  8. All I hear when Michael Kay talks is "Alex Rahj-riguez."
  9. IMO, if the team doesn't look like it could reasonably win 90, there's not much of a point in hanging on to Fielder.
  10. Yeah... Lee really didn't give up all *that* much with all things considered. Certainly not 50 or 60 million.
  11. Blanton is ok, but like trwi said, I don't see the Brewers making the playoffs with that rotation. Especially if they trot out the same defense as last season.
  12. Rangers/Yankees will get Greinke, and I wouldn't be surprised if the other got Garza. This probably hurts the Brewers in more ways than one.
  13. Wow, that's awesome!
  14. I don't meant to be a jerk, and I don't mean to single you out because I see this type of comment all the time, but they really drives me crazy. Why does it matter how he gets results if he actually, you know, gets results! If a guy threw underhand and was a 3 WAR pitcher, I'd be glad to have him.
  15. I'm picturing him interviewing players and managers with a glove on his head.
  16. Yep. Second to last game, but essentially the game that got Yost fired. Some may call it sadistic, but I think it's a pretty awesome souvenir. Definitely will be a conversation piece, anyway.
  17. Went to the clubhouse last week mainly just to see what it's all about. My brother was looking around too, then waived me over. At first, I laughed, not believing they were selling it. "Oh wow, this would be pretty funny to have." Then I thought about it some more, and kept looking at it. "Man... I actually think I want this!" It was just sitting there, unassuming, tucked in with all the other lineup cards. I bet almost nobody gave it a second thought. It wasn't a game the Brewers would promote, that's for sure. Still, it's a monumental game in team history. I still talk about it all the time, and I will always remember where I was while watching it. And now, I own the lineup card. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g312/saltstadt/DSCF1139.jpg
  18. I keep forgetting Yost manages the Royals. Awesome.
  19. I like Pavano a lot, but he's a guy who's a great fit for a strong defensive team. He walks nobody, but he also doesn't strike out too many. The Twins' defense is a lot better than the Brewers'.
  20. I'm not convinced Tillman will ever be a front end starter. This may be a "fair" deal right now, but if the Brewers trade Cain, I'd prefer it to be as part of a package to get a better/more established pitcher than Tillman.
  21. I sure hope that my future wife is sport ornitated.
  22. True, but if Tampa Bay is aware that everyone who doesn't get Lee or Greinke is going to come calling, don't you figure they'll probably hang onto him until then? Quite possible, but I'm speculating that Lee could drag on into the winter, and perhaps Greinke too. Tampa might not want to be in limbo that long. Possibly wishful thinking on my part, but the Jays did just deal Marcum very quickly.
  23. Similar to Marcum, Garza seems like a great quick-strike target while teams are still waiting around on Lee and Greinke. It sounds like some teams are seeing Garza as a backup plan if they can't get either of those two. I'd love to see Doug move quickly on this one.
