  1. Playoffs--.357/.464 Reg Sea-.389/.578 ARod seems to be a step below his regular season totals, though that makes sense, considering that you face better pitchers in the playoffs, and rarely face the #5 starters and mid-long relievers. He's far from "struggling". The small sample police just don't understand, which is fine, it lets me know who to avoid paying attention to.
  2. The Dunn deal was rumored on Cincy talk radio first, then on their blog, if memory serves.
  3. I think the Matt Wise for Dunn rumor missed prospects, but that may have been the big league part of it, or most of it.
  4. "Higher end"? You can attend any game for less than an evening movie, never mind theater, opera, comedy clubs, etc. Never mind I'm sure they will have plenty of specials in the Spring Madness, 5 County, and so on. Robert always mentions live entertainment is expensive, yet folks act as if the Brewers should be exempt from that. As Hawing points out, significant discounts are available to any fan with the ability to go to 10 or more games...and 2.87M came out this year. I think 3M will attend with a good start and aggressive marketing in April. A dollar here or there makes no difference to most fans.
  5. Heh. By not going with a season ticket option, you'd actually spend more going to the same amount of games. That's hitting 'em where it hurts!
  6. If you were to build a perfect owner using molecular science, you would not be able to build a better owner. He always says and does the right thing, and talks just like he's the dairy dept. manager down at the local grocery. Anyone with a problem with Mark A is a grumpy gus who is unhappy with everything.
  7. You are correct Patrick, but it takes really bad luck to have that perfect cycle. You do not pay any interest if you pay it off. In a case like you described, you might owe something on interest, though minimal, as your refund will prevent interest from accruing for any amount of time.
  8. You do not pay interest on a card with a $0 balance, as long as you don't let it cycle a month. If you carry a balance, you pay interest the second you charge something, as it goes by your average balance. I have never heard of the "waive the interest" thing, but it makes sense, as many states have laws that you would think would prevent interest from being collected in that manner. As for your credit rating, it is usually best for your credit rating to have high credit limits, no debt, and no late claims. I have read many people say the best way to increase your rating is to apply for a card, then cut it up upon receipt, so you are not tempted to use it...if you ever need it, they will always reissue it. I am not an expert on how teams operate, but I think it would be wise for them to give a credit of 101-105% of what they paid, depending on money spent and/or how long they've been a season ticket holder, or an immediate refund on 10/8.
  9. I can't believe anyone would just not put it on a card with $0 balance. I suppose some folks only have one.
  10. Heh. Yum Brands is up 25% in the past 3 months, yet no one eats at Taco Bell, I guess.
  11. MR: Wise MR: Free Agent MR: Tim Dillard/Zach Jackson/ Steve Hammond McClung and Aquino are much more likely part of the April 2008 'pen than any of those. Wise is a longshot, but might come back cheap.
  12. I don't see the 6th and 7th options in the rotation being used an inning at a time.
  13. If they would have had a sponsor, the same ones would be saying they "sold out". That's the way they are, happy only if they are unhappy.
  14. Mark A has a deal with the vendor I'm sure so he only has to pay cost or something like that. $10 of concession food is what, $1.50 cost? Terrific PR move, but allow me to say Mark is a genius. His moves are very nice and friendly, yet end up costing nearly nothing. Seats to games that would have sat empty? Pop with a ridiculous markup? Brilliant.
  15. Given the casual attitude of many Astros during the Brewers' series, that's a huge surprise to me. There was more jogging to 1B and lazy play in 3 games than we see from the Crew all year.
  16. Until he owns part of another team, it's meaningless. As long as Mark A owns 51% of the team, Canning's shares mean nothing.
  17. As Patrick points out, how anyone could be happy not ordering them is beyond me.
  18. A 27 year-old AAA vet might be a utility player option, but I'm sure not getting excited about him as a starting LF.
  19. If you plan to keep your car for 5-6 years, I'd buy the warranty. It's piece of mind for $20-30 a month, and some of those repairs are $500-1000 just for labor. I can't fix anything, so I do not hesitate.
  20. The Brewers have already said unused tickets will not have to be returned.
  21. Good catch Brian, I'll edit.
  22. RD, I'm 6-3 and the Ion is a bit tight for me. Of course, so are the Ford Escape and the other small SUV's.
  23. Saturns have both the Ion and the one slightly larger. They hold up nicely, and service/sales is wonderful.
  24. Maybe a decent starter and a good leftfielder. 8 SP's is a plenty, I don't see another being added. AS for LF, you can make an argument that they cost too much, but you're not going to go out and sign a FA likely to beat our LF production. Most of the effort will be on the bullpen this offseason, as it was far from perfect and has 2+ FA's.
  25. Matt Stairs and Corey Hart are comparable offensive players, though I hope Corey keeps getting better. To think this kid will step in and be as good as Hart and Stairs is probably a bit pie-in-the-sky. As noted, blocked guys like this are excellent trade targets, however. On a related note, i feel bad for TOR, they are almost identical W/L wise as the Crew, but they are in the wrong division.
