  1. Counsell might be tempted by a contender and a platoon job. I hope he returns, but nothing is for sure.
  2. He's been very good except when he was recovering from his injury. I'd hate to see a 4th year.
  3. I doubt Overbay could play LF any better than Dunn. That would make him equal to about a 720 OPS LF. I'm all over Conor Jackson, if available, though word is ARI plans to tender him.
  4. Hart is a speed/power combo who is taken for granted in MIL because he's no Prince or Ryan. Corey compares well to Mike Cuddyer, who the Twins just picked up a $11M option on, and Hart is a far better defender and baserunner. No chance he's non-tendered, though I suppose it is within the realm of possibility for next year, when he'll probably get $7-8M from the process. As for McCarthy, I'm underwhelmed. He's never thrown much over 100 innings, and he's going to be 26. He's worse on the road, so Texas hasn't affected his numbers. Hart should be worth at least a solid #4 SP, hopefully with the potential of being a #3. Brandon looks like a #5 SP who might have a very good career in the bullpen, maybe with a #4 ceiling. If he throws 93, I might be convinced, but his K numbers don't indicate that.
  5. I'd have no problem with Kendall at $2M. The only C available with a higher OBP than Jason is Gregg Zaun.
  6. Lopez, Counsell, and Vargas.
  7. She is on Firefox with adblock plus.
  8. Brett Myers would be a target of mine as a "buy low" guy, but I have to wonder if Doug will consider him, as he's had personal/criminal issues, involving domestic abuse I believe. He's a guy that has sort of flown under the radar, is a big RH who throws hard (Doug's calling card), and is mostly durable. Mulder will be a minor league signing for depth. He won't be considered one of the two added.
  9. Reed might fit in nicely as a reserve OF, especially if Gerut or Cat is kept around as the other reserve. Reed is solid at all 3 spots, has some pop, and gets on base nicely. Reed and Gabe Gross (or Gerut) would likely be close to prototypical "ideal" reserve OF's...and they would not embarrass you as a platoon option should injury occur.
  10. Everything is backed up. She had to reformat about a year ago, and it's worked fine until a month ago, when problems began.
  11. She "fixed" it a couple weeks ago when my brother-in-law removed spyware and a registry error a couple weeks ago. Now, back to crashing, won't even come on w/o crashing. The one thing she noticed is the NIC port has two lights flashing nonstop. It is just less than 2 years old, out of warranty. She's thinking it might be time to give up and buy a sharp new pretty one. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.
  12. I would say a durable guy like Davis and a guy like Sheets or Harden might be in the plans, if they do not acquire one in trade. Narveson almost certainly be in reserve, Butler will be in AAA, and probably one other guy in the 'pen will have some rotation experience, like a McClung or similar type pitcher. A comparable guy is Ismael Valdez, who rarely was healthy for a full season, but he gave his team 15-20 starts a year, usually. Is 15 starts of 4.20 ball helpful? Of course it is.
  13. They have a pair of catching prospects, so I doubt they'd want another for him. Young pre-arby guys is what it will take.
  14. The guy now has a lighter complexion. Happens with burn victims all the time.
  15. Hermedia may well break out. Good OBP, solid yet unspectacular, and what, 25? That's almost exactly the recipe you look for.
  16. Hart is in RF unless he is dealt. amel or Cain could end up there...heck, so could Lawrie.
  17. Note his bad season was marked by injuries, a common theme. PIT would require a lot though.
  18. Looking at Bowden's numbers, he looks very solid. If he threw hard, I bet that deal would have been made.
  19. Buchholz and Bard are stud prospects, Bowden is a more pedestrian one.
  20. Doug has always mentioned baserunning metrics and good defense. I think it's very likely he knew he needed a solid defensive CF to replace Cameron, as that difference would be very noticeable. Gomez is as good as it gets on D, and his offense should continue to improve, as he's several years from his mythical peak of 27.
  21. Only two months behind me, but since you have all that amateur info on your mind, I'll let it go this time.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Perkins will be entering his year of 27, and has a career ERA of 4.73, so the NL transition would take that down to about 4.35. I'm not sure why so many are afraid to take anyone but a proven guy like Yo in return...no one is going to give up a guy like Yo. Young guys, former #1 picks, are exactly who the Crew should be looking for...sadly, I doubt Lincecum or Blackburn are available. That next level down is exactly who Doug should look for, and I'm sure he will. Perkins is an odd case, his secondary stats were almost the same as '08, but he was far less effective...a guy who may well have struggled with guys on base, maybe Rick P can find something.
  22. KC gets a pair of guys who can't hit at all for a useful, steady, versatile Teahen. That's about right.
  23. If they deal him at the deadline, it might be a win for them. Other than that, they traded a hard thrower locked up for 5 years for a decent 2B who'll be long gone after this coming season. After their deadline maneuvers, which left them young and loaded with young talent, it's a puzzler. They will not close to contending, so it's either about the possible reward for dealing him or the long-term plan is in doubt.
  24. Kapler left last year because he wanted to play more, and it's hard to see him getting more time than in TB, where he'll platoon again. Hard to figure he'd have any desire to leave, as long as he liked it in in TB.
