  1. In the playoffs, managers will go to their bullpen earlier than they may in a Wednesday game in June. I’d be interested to see the occurrences of multiple hit, non-homer, crooked number rallies in the playoffs (I am not going to do the work).
  2. If it was a strategy, they would have picked up Hiura. Now excuse me, I am going to duck out before rickh150 shows up.
  3. Agreed. I can accept that they did the cost/benefit analysis, and they decided no more moves was the best move.
  4. I consider myself a rational fan. I am generally very optimistic, and the Brewers are having a season that I am enjoying immensely. However, it is possible to see the Priester and Vaughn trades as wins. Getting Woodruff back and inserting Mis into the rotation have been beautiful. While the FO gets credit for all that, the trade deadline is a distinct event. It is one last look at your team and determining if it can be improved. I think it is a diversion to point to previous good moves as de facto deadline moves ("We made our deadline move with the Civale trade", for example). I believe that a Willi Castro would have been an upgrade from Siegler. And they could have had it all. They chose not to. Doesn't diminish my fandom to point out my disappointment that they didn't do more. In fact, they seem to be so good at these decisions, that I want them to do more. Shelby Miller's ability to get healthy and contribute is how I will grade this deadline.
  5. At the risk of sounding like I’m not a real fan, one who accepts mediocrity, I’m enjoying the heck out of this season.
  6. Same crowd that celebrates a 2-run home run by complaining it should have been a 3-run home run.
  7. “Reds are playing very good baseball right now.” 8-6 since ASB, 6-6 their last 12, 2-3 this week.
  8. Butterfly effect. Two men on, there is no guarantee the same pitch to Turang would have happened. If Siegler hadn’t been picked off, Turang may have grounded into a double play. Or Murphy may have had him bunt. 3-0 is pretty cool.
  9. Great tribute to Ryne Sandberg by the Cubs. Losing 4-3. That’s what you write in the scorebook on a groundout to 2nd. It’s almost poetic
  10. Remember, if you throw out the 11-game winning streak, the Brewers had a losing record in July (6-7). I’m concerned.
  11. IT WAS JUST A TICKLE!
  12. Other than hearing he had a sore arm earlier this spring, is there another arm issue I am unaware of?
