  1. Is Mitchell expected to be ready to compete at the start of Spring Training? Sorry if I missed some announcement. Is he in the best shape of his life?
  2. I agree with this completely.
  3. We Suck in October? Man, that's negative.
  4. I agree with you on this power discussion. I would gladly take power from any position on the diamond, but at the moment, the Brewers are set at SS, 2B, 1B, C, CF, and RF. That leaves looking for a new power source from LF or 3B. So, asking for power from 3B or LF isn't from any kind of "dinosaur" thinking, it is because that is where there is an opening in the roster to insert a power hitter. If Contreras became Cal Raleigh or Chourio channeled 1996 Brady Anderson, I would be content with a lighter-hitting third baseman. Short of that, the Brewers don't have an obvious option at 3B. With that in mind, I wish they would find a guy for that position who can mash.
  5. Went over to Sox talk. Initial fan response is positive. This guy: Wow! Can’t believe the Brewers accepted that trade. This was a steal. We got a promising and controlled IF for literally pure garbage. Edit: Is "pure garbage" an oxymoron?
  6. Rob Z hasn’t been healthy for three straight seasons. Not saying I want Banda, but Z is another player that I expect to hear is having “discomfort”, then he disappears for three months.
  7. I do worry about injury, of course, but my anecdotal evidence of being in Arizona during the last WBC is that it was a blast to attend a couple of games. The country pride really made being in the stands feel like a soccer match. Singing, chanting, non-stop cheering. Then the celebration after was great as well. I'm interested in seeing the team from Japan so I know what the Dodger lineup will look like in a few years as well.
  8. Namath did it three times.
  9. I will not allow you to erase the finest season of Jamie Cocanower’s career. 8-16 records don’t happen every year.
  10. GB loves to promote from within. I'll guess Al Harris. This is the franchise that took Ryan Mahaffey from Asst. OLine Coach to Wide Receiver coach.
  11. I’d prefer the Altuve Axiom. An undersized infielder hits above his weight and helps his team to a WS win even if it means cheating
  12. I know nothing about Jett Williams except he’s another guy who needs a booster seat in a restaurant, but describing him as a “utility man” in this article made my stomach churn.
  13. Better than Michigan? C’mon man. It was won in the best possible way. Rip their hearts out. Two road wins in the Big Ten is better than I expected.
  14. Do you apply the same standard to LaFleur? Does he have to win the Super Bowl next year? And as far as "starting from scratch", that's not really the case. Same GM, a lot of the same roster, it's a nice job for a candidate. And as you said, it can be done in the NFL. I don't believe that it can be done with LaFleur. If GB keeps him, obviously they disagree with me. Gutekunst builds a roster with the philosophy of getting rid of someone a year too soon rather than a year too late. Do the same here.
  15. Season-long success, post-season failure/underperformance. Are we talking about the Packers, Brewers, or Badger basketball? I know all the reasons are different, but man, it's tough to be a fan from where I sit right now. At least Badger FB doesn't get my hopes up. I'm okay with them moving on from LaFleur. What I don't agree is that you need to wait two seasons for a new coach to be successful. I'm not saying fire the new guy if he is not, but we can point to Ben Johnson (Bears), Curt Cignetti (Indiana fb) and Dusty May (UM BB) as coaches that didn't need two seasons. Not the norm, I understand, but not unreasonable to expect success immediately.
  16. But were they as talented as a team that outscored Chicago 41-6 in the first halves or not as talented as a team that got outscored 68-30 in second halves? The one that got a ten-point lead at Cleveland or the one that blew that lead? Had they been consistently outplayed, that’s one thing, but the manner in which this team lost is beyond the talent level. If they clean house, I’m fine with that. Just don’t do the same thing and run it back with the “youngest team in the NFL” and expect different results.
  17. I’d fire him because they were a “fringe 7” in the first place. They played last night from a script that became familiar this year. Good teams don’t hang on for dear life like this one did. What’s good to say about a team that ended the year on a five-game losing streak?
  18. That same casual fan probably won’t align their schedule to attend on a day when Peralta pitches. They just plan on going on a random Saturday or Tuesday night. That lessens the importance of a particular starting pitcher to a casual fan as opposed to an everyday player
  19. "Mitchell is the great unknown for the Brewers." I would suggest that he is completely known at this point. And that is the biggest problem with planning on him in your lineup. He wouldn't be in my top 25.
