  1. Nope, gotta do it for the whole state. Because there may be a bunch of drunk college kids three counties away that will invade Milwaukee and end up killing everyone's Grandma because they will infect someone in a room at 50% capacity, whereas they cannot infect someone in a room at 25% capacity. But in all serious, gone are the days when government is expected to maintain law and order and provide a few basic services like cleaning the streets and picking up the garbage. Now Evers is expected to be the Grand Patriarch of all mere mortals in the state of Wisconsin. So everything is applied equally, because the perception that the government is protecting everyone must be maintained. Hopefully I'll have time to read the new order when I get home from work tonight. The new order doesn't really change much at the end of the day. The responsible establishments were already operating at a drastically reduced seating capacity, if they were allowing in-person dining at all. The irresponsible establishments just simply aren't going to adhere to the order, so it's going to be status quo.
  2. Honestly, today is the first time since he signed that I actually looked at the structure of his contract. It's actually apparent now that the Packers only intended it to be a 2-year deal even when it was signed. I see very, very little way they keep him on the roster with a $16 million cap hit in each of the next two seasons. He's either restructured or gone this off season. That's why questioning the Rashan Gary selection even though the Packers "already had the Smith Bros." was kind of a fool's errand. Now when they are forced to either trade or release Preston, they'll have an uber-talented 23-year-old with a couple years of game experience ready to step into his role.
  3. Packers tagged and traded Corey Williams to the Browns back in 2008 for a 2nd rounder. The last player to receive the franchise tag was Ryan Pickett in 2010, and that was only for a short period while they worked out a long-term deal.
  4. Masks and distancing was never, ever presented as a surefire solution. They are precautionary measures that simply buy time in an effort to keep the country's medical infrastructure from being overwhelmed until a viable vaccine is available. The problem is that the restrictions were never really relaxed in Wisconsin. They were simply not followed to begin with, from probably the end of April on.
  5. Exactly. Some team is going to back up a Brinks truck for Jones, and that team probably cannot be the Packers, unless they want to turn into the salary cap hellscape that is the Minnesota Vikings. Williams isn't nearly as dynamic as Jones, but he's still a very good RB. I think Dillon was drafted exactly for that scenario playing out. I still think there's a chance that they franchise Jones and deal him, though, rather than just let him walk for a compensatory 3rd rounder.
  6. Gross. I want nothing to do with the Yankees poo-poo platter. Both those guys, while having some upside, also have serious flaws.
  7. The practice squad signing is a formality. Per new NFL rules, new signings have to have 6 days of negative COVID tests to even enter the building, which means that Harrison isn't going to be able to play this weekend for the Seahawks anyway. Why waste a 53-man spot on a guy who won't be eligible to be up this weekend? They'll likely elevate him next Monday.
  8. Second draft related hot take- they not only drafted with the intention of the guys they took having little contribution this year, but they also did so with this 'cap reckoning' in mind.... Aaron Jones is playing himself into a massive contract. I wonder if there's a chance that he'll be franchise tagged, then dealt?
  9. Nobody thinks it's fake. Well, sure, there's a handful of people that believe anything. What a large percentage of people DO believe is the concern isn't worth changing your entire life for a year, or maybe two. Not saying we're right or wrong, that's just where we're coming from. Masks or no nasks, this virus will take it's course. It's why certain spots pio up, ir dies dow, pops up somewhere else. It's what viruses do. It can certainly be argued that that large percentage of people selfishly not willing to change their lifestyles is also strongly contributing to the explosion of cases in Wisconsin, which is only going to prolong the mandates.
  10. I imagine that Freddy Zamora must be entering the final phases of his rehab from ACL surgery if he had it in late February/early March. Understandable that he isn't on the instruct league roster, as it's typically optimistically a 9-month rehab, but I wonder if they'll be able to get him any action this winter prior to camps opening?
  11. Braun proved once again this year that even with a very short season and many days off he still couldn't hold up. He only played in 39 games and he had to leave 3 of those games early because of injury. He is way to risky to waste $5M on, especially if Stearns is cutting payroll again. Vogelbach did a nice job and deserves to get the first look at DH if the NL continues with the DH. Plus he's only making the lg. minimum. You likely never want Dan Vogelbach taking an AB against a left-handed pitcher, though, if you can help it. His splits are pretty extreme, to the point where he needs to be used as a platoon option at either DH or 1B. You know who has historically been great against left-handed pitching, though ...
  12. I don't know if Sinclair is tough negotiators so much as they are severely overvaluing their product. They likely paid Disney too much for those RSNs, and feel they need a return on their investment. But yes, Sinclair does have the reputation in the industry of being extremely difficult to work with.
  13. Watson will likely draw the starts at the beginning, but I expect Berger to eventually run away with the job. Groshek will play in his typical 3rd down, change-up role.
  14. Brewers have the 2nd lowest TV revenue in the league at $28m for 2020 and only the Marlins have a smaller TV revenue at $20m. Both the Marlins and the Brewers TV deals have completed after this season. I am not sure the Brewers will get much more than what they are already receiving. At best I think the Brewers could get what the Indians received and could get a boost of $12m more a season but I don't think that is going to happen. I think the Brewers may only get $7m more a season if I were Mark A. I would completely drop Fox Sports and see if I can get a deal with either Youtube, Amazon, Hulu or Apple. Completely drop cable and go with a streaming service this may alienate some now but I think future wise this will pay off more for the Brewers. At the rate those Sinclair-owned regional networks are being dropped by providers, they may not be anywhere by next spring. Sinclair has really dropped the ball on finding compromises with providers.
  15. Pretty sure he was referring to the prospective payroll coming into the season.
  16. Begelton's time to shine! Been high on him ever since it was announced late last year that they were grabbing him out of the CFL. Will be interesting to see if he gets any field time tonight.
  17. To me it's a no brainer. 1. Narvaez 2. Nottingham 3. Vogelbach Obviously You forgot Freitas!
  18. I would have enjoyed listening in on that phone call this morning between Adams and Matt Lafleur.
  19. I expect Deguara to be back up tonight, and for them to go heavy quite a bit with him, Tonyan, Lovett and Sternberger. Lewis is doubtful, and that would be a rough loss if he can't play since he so vital to the running game. I also expect to see both Jones and Ervin split out quite a bit. It's going to be a very interesting game plan for sure.
  20. Adams just deleted his own tweet. He probably sensed it was a little unprofessional to vent publicly in that manner (though I hardly blame him). With how secretive Lafleur is with injury news, he's was probably pissed. That's been really my only gripe with Lafleur so far. I guess it can be argued that he does it for competitive purposes, but it still irks me that he just can't come out and give any sort of injury updates on players.
  21. Only so many spots available in the pen, though. Hader, Williams and Yardley are locks, and Suter is about as close to a lock as you're gonna get. Rasmussen, Houser and Topa will definitely be in the mix. They still need to figure out what they are going to do with Knebel. Still have Black, Claudio, Feyereisen, Lauer (if he doesn't make the rotation), Wahl and Perdomo. That's already 14 guys under team control for next season. At the same time, they only have three rotation spots nailed down, and that's if you count Lindblom. So in other words, this offseason should be all about bats, bats, bats. Good problem to have and much better than the opposite alternative. I could see them grabbing a Brett Anderson-type again. Heck, they might even grab Brett Anderson again. He was very solid when available this season. Not an exciting choice by any means, but you could do a heck of a lot worse for a #3-4 starter. Maybe they take a shot on a reclamation-type project who had a down year like Robbie Ray or Mike Minor. I could see Jordan Zimmerman on a cheap, incentive-laided deal or even a minor league deal.

  23. You are probably on to something. Houser looked good in relief against the Dodgers on Thursday. Unfortunately Peralta has typically looked much better in relief than starting too. I still love Houser, but I think I was wrong on his potential as a starter. Unless he develops a pitch in the offseason that will allow him not to get clobbered by left-handed bats, I think his days as a starter with the Brewers are done.
  24. I've seen early to mid November, which would work just fine. The bye weeks comes at precisely the right time in this case. If Adams doesn't play Monday night, though, it's going to be a bunch of no-names at WR. MVS might get peppered with passes.
  25. Ah well Would say good season, but it really wasn't "good", per se. More of an "ehh" season. I am glad that we got to have baseball this summer, though, and glad that the Brewers were able to field a competitive team for the most part. Also excited to see what Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, Devin Williams and that cast of anonymous fireballers in the pen bring to the table next year. Time for David Stearns to get to work fixing this offense.
